The Lamp post.
a solitary character with a love for music,
the Lamp post spends much of her time
humming tunes that she’s
heard from passersby,
the moon her only audience.

She doesn’t have much of choice as
to where she chooses to be,
but she can always choose
the song that she’ll sing.

Her only regret is that she has never
heard the ending of a song.
Many beginnings, but no ends.
Humans don’t often stop
under lampposts, when they sing.

Sometimes at night,
when spirals of smoke
twirl their way up to her
flickering orb,
she knows that the Anglerpod has arrived.
She would love to speak to the Anglerpod,
but alas, lampposts don’t come with
voice boxes.

The lamp post is
unsure of her feelings for this Anglerpod.
Perhaps it is this ‘love’ that is so often mentioned in songs.
She would not know, but she knows that the Anglerpod is alone as she is, and she enjoys the company while it lasts, or at least, until his cigar burns down.

Weeks and months go by,
and she feels the faint beating of
her heart slowing.
Do lampposts have hearts?
She stops to muse,
before hearing the familiar
scuttling of the Anglerpod.

"How I wish I could have spoken to him,"

is her thought before everything
fades away.

I would love for someone to do a voice recording of this. Animators, actors, all are welcome to take this and REmix.
