This is a marker sketch I did of Brando as Colonel Walter E. Kurtz in "Apocalypse Now."

I recently compiled a list of the Top 10 monologues in movie history - just for the hell of it - and I almost had Brando's "Ohio River" speech crack the front five. What an amazing performance he gave, despite the contradictory nature of his on-set behavior.

In all the years since '79 rarely has the screen felt the presence and awe Brando created with that very peculiar performance.
