RE/RE/RE-RECommendations (9.3.10)

1) "Tokyo Tower" (SwissmissE) - A great example of stock footage RECording. There are so many great moments in this, including the ascending elevator, the POV of the tower employee, and the city at the end. So many moments in this could be used for so many different things.

2) "Cities Record- Philadelphia Skyline" (Janet) - These types of animations are really awesome. I like how the city comes together piece by piece. Again, this could be used in so many different projects and Philly could double as almost any other metropolis.

3) "The Vinyl RECord - Rough Cut" (HGus) - HGus has gone super ambitious with this "Vinyl Initiative" RECord. I'd love to see where this goes.

4) "People In This World (poem)" (doubleMdoubleL) - Easily one of the best readings on the site. This would make for a great voiceover in a video, or animation, REmix.

5) "Movie Reaction" (LydiaSaskia) - There's something just genuinely nice about this video. Sure, it could fit into some kind of music video mash-up for a split second, but the real challenge would be to build something around it where the entire clip stays in tact. Or maybe it should just stay as is and everyone should just watch it once to get inspired to smile and laugh more.

6) "the sun: a reading" (jesuisMEGan) - This is another great reading that could make for a really creative video or animation REmix.

7) "tree of life" (Jane_TH) - This immediately reminded me of another tree RECord from several months ago (the title escapes me at the moment, but it was a tree with roots on a blue background.) I actually thought this was a REmix of that, but it wasn't. Anyway, the main reason I like this (besides the fact it is visually beautiful) is the fact it is a "digital" tree and it doesn't come off as cold or mechanical. I see it as a modern interpretation of a tree. We do live in a digital age after all, but sometimes artists present that concept as cold and almost evil. Not here.

8) "RECord Science T-shirt" (Tasseltop) - This is such a great idea for a design. I think it needs to be REmixed a bit more though. If a bunch of artists take a stab at this then it could continue to develop into an evolving design. Personally I think it works best without text. i think it's so cool that the design speaks for itself.

9) "Professor and Girl" (JacksonBlack) - Everything about this is intriguing. It leaves so much to the imagination as to what the hell is going on.

10) "Influence" (Saavy) - I've pasted the REmark I wrote to Saavy: "Influence in general is such an interesting issue. Globally it isn't necessarily in the same league as many other issues but socially it is something that affects many of us. Great way to illustrate it and leave it open to interpretation."
