HitRECord LIVE! : NYC Chapter

*SEE BELOW FOR FINAL INFO. LET'S ALSO TRY TO PRODUCE SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR THE FALL FORMAL.

-----

I'm sure this idea has been proposed before by someone, but with everything going on related to SITC, the Chew and View, the Skype meetings, and the hitRECord Artshow, I wanted to actually get started with setting up a monthly LIVE meeting between local hitRECorders. Many people have expressed the incredible opportunities that come with a LIVE meeting that simply is not available in this 'post-based' environment. To get you excited, let me rattle off a few hitRECordy things that could happen with regular meet-ups:

-- brainstorming and bouncing ideas off each other!
-- getting a team together to go out and make a short film!
-- showing each other lesser-known but still amazing records on hitRECord!
-- street teamy advertisey promotey stuff!
-- reading/acting hitRECorder writing LIVE and receiving instant feedback!
-- recording multiple musicians at once!
-- utilizing each others' equipment/props/costumes...etc. (aka PHYSICAL things)!
-- creating a boardgame!
-- creating a single collaborative art piece/ urban art projects!
-- presenting tutorials/sharing tips (video editing, animation, sound recording, even...cooking?)!
-- playing improv games!

AND WE'D POST THE RESULTS!

My proposed itinerary, both for our first meet and meetings in general:

Saturday, September 25th
2-4 PM - meet at Bryant Park (free WiFi!) at the fountain as a big sloppy group. http://www.bryantpark.org/plan-your-visit/map.html
- everyone introduces themselves and their interest in hitRECord
- we show a couple 'hidden gems' found on hitRECord
- brainstorming session for random, CRAZY ideas specific to what we could do with the people there.
- we pick a few to focus on for at least the coming month.
- everyone picks one or two (depending on the scale) that they would be excited to participate in.
- separate into groups to plan how we'll go about reaching certain reasonable checkpoints in the various projects over the coming month.

4-5 PM
-for anyone interested, I'll give a short tutorial on using Adobe Premiere and AfterEffects
- someone else gives a short tutorial on something else (let me know if you'd be willing!)
-goodbyes...or maybe food?

OVER THE NEXT MONTH : meeting with your group, maybe a couple times per week, maybe just once, to do whatever you need to do to reach your project's immediate goals.

Saturday, October 23
2-4 PM : Bryant Park again! Same idea, except now we're also giving each other updates on the various projects, and maybe even World Premiers of a few!!

So, as I said, I want this to happen. What'd you think?Let's conversationalize this and maybe we'll modify things a little (even the date if there's compelling reason to), but the point is to actually get going with some regular meetings and start getting all messy and creative face to face!

PS- I'm doing NYC, because that's obviously, where I'm living right now, but with everyone discussing this and a little trial and error, hopefully we can set up a template for anyone who wants to start up a Chapter in their own city! Fight Clubs, but way more intense :)
