3am Ambulance
I love seeing the red and blue lights of an ambulance cut through the darkness on a lonley road at 3am in the night. Something about it moves me. It's as if your seeing a rainbow when you shouldn't be. The lights of the 3am ambulance symbolize many things. At first it symbolizes that you're not alone in the world. Which can sometimes become a common feeling when driving on that dark and lonely road. The desolate emptiness. The hour of hallucination; seeing things that aren't there. The ambulance lights will comfort you; showing you that you're not by yourself. The aid to someones possible suffering somehow becomes your road companion. These lights are your friend. The colors of happiness speeding towards horrid emergencies. Sometimes speeding towards someone's death; but the colors remain happy. The same colors of the blocks that you played with as a kid; as bright as the colors of a Saturday morning cartoon. The ambulance hollars, wails and whistles; yelling at you, showing you that it exists. Letting you know that it needs to be heard; and when this happens, you put all of your lonliness to the side. You become aware that you're not hallucinating, and then you stop; and watch. And for that split second that the ambulance makes itself known, you see the works of righteousness, sorrow, bravery, companionship, responsibility, honesty, calamity... and...... beauty.
