Hey guys! Thanks for everyone posting in the other thread where I've hosted version 1! However I felt it was appropriate that people should be able to download the film uploaded here on hit record so its more easily downloadable as a resource, and is searchable in the database!
I am currently writing an epic essay about the work flow, which ill be adding to this thread once the films uploaded! Im posting parts of it on the old thread for the film, but i'll be shifting them over here!
Im so grateful to the artists whose work i was able to use, and to whom I could contribute! Metaphorest, Jenyffer, Lula and Joe and everyone just blew me away.
When I see what people are making here, and are aspiring too (me too!) I think wow, this is the kind of work i enjoy - to me this art, is what entertains me. To see us work together and develop ever more ambitious projects that Hit Record can eventually share with the world, to eventually become self sustaining - is one of the most exciting things ive seen occur in the creative industries.
So im waffling there - but exciting times!
Version 2 - will be including a number of graphic improvements, extra shots here and there, particularly to credits! Ive asked for ideas and suggestions in the last thread but deffo port them over here and ill give them a good consider!

I do pride myself on being able to read just about anything english aloud. This one was hard. Then again, it's not strictly english.

Jen, if you can draw the characters in a few more positions, we can probably just use those over and over. Profile, three quarters. A few different emotions. Or probably better, just keep doing like you're doing and picking out scenes and moments and drawing those.

an invitation
i want us all to collaborate on a video that invites anybody and everybody to come be a part of hitRECord and participate in our collaborations for Sundance.
I already started it.
I'm gonna release the script, right after I release this Regularity video (which is almost late!)
We don't have to stick to that script, in fact, if you feel like re-writing it, refining it, adding to it, please do.
I also RECorded a basic reading of the script so far. It's simple, just me talking to the camera.
I'd like us all to add on to that.
We need visuals to go along with the ideas and sentiments.

also it'd be cool if you guys want to do a reading of the script, or some variation of it. the more the merrier.
For example, at one point, I'm like, hi, I'm joe, this is hitREcord, say hello everyone. Can everyone RECord themselves saying hello, or hi, or what's up, or hola or salut or something?
And just get creative with it. Do whatever to it. I'd like to really focus on this one this week (along with Morgan and the Desk Drumming). Let's get it out to the world soon. But it's gotta be better than what I've done by myself. So have at it!

Last night was the longest night of the year. Lula and I spent it editing. I really think Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny is going to Sundance. We just gotta finish it, and we need your help!
The Invitation is also coming along great. TanjaTHEawesome made a super-pro-beautiful animation to go along with it (can't wait to see what she does to MMM!). Miss Awesome, I'd love to get a Resource version of your Invitation video without the music. The music you chose is great, but I'd like this video to have music we all made together. And everyone else keep the contributions coming -- Tanja's video is wonderful, but there's no reason we can't keep going with it.
In desk drum circle news, Albert uploaded a .zip of all the different pieces he cut up and looped to make his remix. That is a perfect set of Resources that I intend to make use of toute suite!
Also, the Secret Santa collaboration is fantastic! I love that you guys are making physical objects that represent hitRECord. I do indeed think that while 1s and 0s are destined to be free, physical objects offer we artists a legitimate way to sell our work. All the cooler of you guys to be giving them away!! ;o)

Firstly, I can't remember which RECord I resourced at 4:54 for that "SUNDANCE 2010" on the computer screen. I apologize, can someone remind me?
Yes, it's going to be about a week, and then hitRECord.org v4, the new website, will be launched and liv!! Ahh, we've been working on this for such a long time, I can't wait for you guys to see it. It's gonna make our collaborative creative process so much more effective and fun.
Morgan M. Morgansen, the collaboration continues. Lots of great contributions. Discussing color schemes. Drawings, videos, dancing, birds, photos. Still lots to be done, what do you want to throw in?
Obviously, there's lots of collaborations revolving around our upcoming stint at SUNDANCE. But I hereby want to start one to make a 5-10 minute video about Sundance itself. Most of this video will probably be RECorded during Sundance. But we might as well start now. There's lots of Sundance stuff from last year that we can begin to remix. I'd also love to see what you guys might RECord regarding Sundance. What does it mean to you? When did you hear about it? What are some of your favorite films that have come out of Sundance? Etc...
Tonight, at long last, I got a live-action spine done for MMM. I'll release it tomorrow (along with REGULARITY) promise!

Joe and I got together a few days ago to get theatrical with Metaphorest's tall tantalizing tale. We wanted to make a spine for the short film we're all making that could pull together everyone's contributions. Not only the original text, but everyone else's drawings, animations, music and various Morgansen oriented records were so inspiring we had to try them on ourselves.
Jen, thanks for drawing such a cute bow and fabulashes!!!
This is simply a base layer - there's lots more work to be done!!!

We need:

Some of these things have already been RECorded to great effect and just need to be REmixed in. We could also use other RECords on hitRECord that might not have been intended for this collaboration, but will work anyway. Some things we'll just have to make starting now...

Forgive me (mostly to Metaphorest) but this how I envisioned him. Maybe a little older but just as awkward. I reread the story and then listened, as I listened I closed my eyes and doodled up what I saw in my head. Of course, I refined him a bit -- ha!
Also forgive me for the lousy quality, my camera battery is dead, I have no scanner, and all I have is an out dated point and shoot. :(

Quick note: The camera I usually use to share my stuff with the internet is missing its battery charger. I have a scanner now though but of course it's a generic size. Part of this (and the last Personette piece) has been cut off. I scanned it numerous of times trying to get her all in. Some sacrifices were made but easily reproduced by others if you decide to remix.
That's why we're here after all, to add/finish to others work. :)

I should add that despite my appearance for this role... i do actually have a love life! I do... really! I do! IIIII'm Beaautiful!!!!
My brother and I filmed a live action sequence of the Food Penguin to be REmixed however seen fit.
My brother will take the footage back to New York and edit it (ever so slightly) pretty much to clean-up any obviously unusable takes. However, it'll be REalised fairly RAW and in some instances (specific shot set-ups) where the camera rolls (or jump cuts) where I (portraying the "Food Penguin") do a few takes back-to-back trying out different things, taking direction from my brother, or just outright laughing.
We filmed a variety of different shots and inserts simply for options for potential REmixes and REsults.
There's still more to be added. For continuity sakes we specifically shot medium to close-ups to avoid the fact that I did not have white gloves (as seen in the over-the-shoulders of the original Food Penguin), as well we neglected other props such as the "eatplate containing the baby-bunny". Some of those inserts can be easily added by the talented members of hitRECord.
Other than that, we shot some cut-aways and complimentary shots to Triple-M and the Personette's POV of the "Morgan & Destiny" live action version. We also gave it a high contrast, blew out the background, and tried to match the style at least complimentary to the original video enough to be usable. The B&W and other style choices can of course be done in post by whomever REmixes the footage.
Hope it's usable, but either way, it was definitely a fun shoot!

I took a 2 day break from Morgan to get my gaming on (I just got my hands on the New Super Mario Bros Wii, ha.) But I now need a break from that, so onward with Morgan! Expect a couple more doodles by the end of tomorrow. :)

I was chatting to Metaphorest about getting the name right for the restaurant and heres an exterior shot of it. The actual video of Joe ive chopped up to allow me to fit in more spaces, visuals, exteriors etc.
I'll probably add background smoke coming off the factory stacks, while the pink and blue haze is actually mists (that move about, and mingle) over different layers. Might have a car chug chugging along too!
Aweee i really do appreciate that Lula's performance is just awesome in this short. Herself and Joe manage to capture every little mannerism with the kind of detail that I would blooming hard!!
Anyway ol' Morgansens getting all the attention but what about his personette! hehe so here are some screens from the film wip of Lula's character!
Notes - The bunny on the table is COVERED by the blanket, but before so... jen's tragic illustration makes its film debut! Oh and the red line if you notice on screen 2 hehe (is just from my vid editor) not in the film - but the flowers do really fly!

i'm a little slow on what's been happening on hitRECord this week, but when i stumbled across this little project, i was itching to dive in: i love the story, i love the doodles, i love the voiceover, so i wanted to animate it all & get the chance to put all the pieces together.
animating takes so painfully long (even more so when you're a perfectionist) so i've only managed the first installment so far. there's scope for more actions! and i'm hoping to find time to animate the rest of the scenes really soon.

i've been sitting on this for some time.
(as of last weekend's over-enthusiastic animation session, i've had an on-off tension headache all week, so I've had to keep computer work to a minimum to save my brain.)
however, i can't believe how many wonderful versions are springing up, how many people are participating in adding bunnybabies and scenes and thinking up songs. it's really magical to watch and be a part of. i wanted to jump in & contribute some more asap.

Morgan comes to life
Since I first read Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny, I have wanted to turn it into a short film. It is a wonderful story and beautifully narrated by Joe.
I tried to incorporate a lot of the work that has already been done with this story. I added some of the drawings and animation where there were some holes in my filming. Please remix if you think it needs work. Maybe some more animation? Sound effects? Filters?
Also, this is my first upload to hitRECord and I would really appreciate some feedback. I love what everyone has been doing and am blown away by so much of what I find on here. The only thing I don't like is that I didn't get involved with hitRECord sooner!
Because all great stories deserve titling sequences
Something that I'm personally really interested in doing more of in the future on this site is titling sequences and intros. This is a small attempt at titling for Morgan M. Morgansen.
The sequences may or may not get better in time. :) I'm really excited for the next few months, when I will have enough to buy some editing programs that I've been longing to use for quite a while now.

So - not much else to add, except that I made the corrections on the title, and am still uploading a vimeo version (720 - 16.9) that ill upload tomorrow! And the player on hit record plays everything in 4:3 - so this video uploaded is 4:3 cropped -but the vimeo one is straight 16.9

Just to know if it's the kind of effects which could work. It's just an image, from what I already tried to do in After Effects. If I have well understood the explanation of the key frames in this software, it needs some time to do this "special effect". But I can do it if no one knows another solution! it could be in that way, my personal contribution... (even if I think I've got some bottles of wine somewhere which could be used as well :D)

It needs some time but it's possible! I colourised the lips of Personette when she arrives to the restaurant. Because the video is not high resolution, it's a little more complicated (because I need to enlarge the video, so I lose some quality), and the result isn't perfect. But it's a first test, to see if it works or not... that's why there is no sound and it's only a small part of the video.

I have a vision, but am unable to execute it. Allow me to elucidate:
1. This music plays while MMM horizontals his neck bow.
2. At the diner, JeffPuff's "Edgar" plays quietly underneath, until the bunnybaby is ordered, and that classic record scratch sound effect plays while Destiny looks at MMM with shock and appall.
3. After the sacraficiality, Madron's score plays, up to the lovespolsplosion.
Anybody think that sounds lovely? Anybody with half-decent film editing software? Eh?

Just thought I'd throw this out as an audio option for the Morgan M. Morgansen's Date With Destiny finale. I came across Madrond101's lovely ambient piece "The Cold Beginning" and added some of my theremin sounds to it. I saw that he already contributed some piano, but thought it couldn't hurt to add some more audio options.
The video looked kind of shoddy after I compressed it, but I'll include the music as an isolated REsource in case anyone wants to experiment with it.

I decided on a whim to, in half an hour, put together a theatrical version of Morgan M.Morgansen's Date With Destiny.
Writen by Metaphorest and read aloud by RegularJOE this is my remix of their work added with mine.

I think its a great idea to make a crazy collage out of the Morgansen animation. Anyone could add something to every scene. Of course acting it out partly would be great but considering my acting skills ..hkhm.. Im more comfortable just scribbling I guess ;o).

When I saw Melanne's screencap I just couldn't help myself, teehee! I opened up MS Paint and started erasing and copying and pasting.
Our personette did such an amazing job capturing both what Metaphorest wrote and what I doodled, I still can not get over it.
I have a hard time watching movies that I have read the book for before hand. Because I am always left so disappointed and many the times have I shook my fist at a screen and just wished they would have consulted me before release, ahahaha. A silly thought that not even in my wildest dreams would I have thought would come true.

This was shot at Sandfly Bay, Dunedin, New Zealand.
This is just the first edit. We are planning on shooting some more but until then, we put this together as a starting point.

I was thinking of how we could do "Morgan M. Morgansen almost lovesploded with butterflation..." and I remembered I have this clip of fireworks that I REcorded from a trip in Hawaii. Please REmix if you think it will be a good addition to Morgan's date with Destiny! I haven't quite experimented with video editing programs yet...

So this small record was originally for MMM, but after hearing Joe and Catstolen, I thought that this might be usable. Although this isn't really a small personal thing. When the birds at Granville Island do their rounds, everyone watching is touched with a little awe.

I tried to animate the timeteller, the result is not perfect (it's quite rough actually ;-) but it was a lot of fun doing it!

I love the "Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny" project that has been going on here (you all are so talented!), and I've been dying to contribute. I don't have any video skills, however, so I've decided to contribute a grapic/flyer/poster type deal.
I stumbled across IrmaVep's "Substitute Frames" and fell in love with the frame that had the bird on it, so I decided to use that frame as a starting point for my Morgan contribution.

I'm not sure how I feel about the fonts that I used. I don't have any great downloaded ones, so I just used a few of the ones that came with CS2. I have a copy of the image saved without the text, so if any of you have a font that you think would work better and would like to remix this, let me know and I'll upload that one!

I'm adding just a little bit of color to some of the shots. If you want a higher resolution version let me know. Did this in Photoshop CS4 lots of drawing frame-by-frame and lots of fun!

this is a rough idea i had after the dec.28th update. let me know what you guys think. the resolution of the table is low because it's a rough, also for render time. You can't see the candle flickers well cause it's so small, but on the 1280x720 it's real clear.

While working on some hand titling for Triple M, I explored the fun of inkblotting, and thought that Morgan and Destiny's lovesplosion may be able to put some of these ink splatters to good use. And so I tried. Too much? Too little?
It's been a couple of years since I've worked in After Effects, and forgot just how much fun (as well as frustrating) the program can be. Working on smoother keyframing, but just thought I'd put this out there in the meantime and revise it a bit later.
I was going to put Sat's "Lovesploded - a snipet for MMM" video of birds in flight on the right hand side but couldn't as it's a /wmv file (which is unfortunately incompatible with Macs), and really wanted to use mushr's video of LizzieMackie's lovely dancing as the base, but for some reason I can't download from vimeo, and though I do have a version with the piece in it, it isn't nearly as clean as the former.
Fireworks taken were from imadealine. :)

Lizzie's Dance with Joe's Prayers...
Even though Lizzie's dance was contributed for the Morgan collaboration, I'd been thinking how the "lovesplosion" moment isn't very long and it would be nice to find a place to show the dance in its entirety. So I had the idea that Lizzie's dance could act as the Pattern to Joe's Prayer.

A remix of the "Morgan M. Morgansen" story with an altered version of the characters falling in love.
I used The Made Shop's remixed version of Regular Joe's "Morgan M. Morgansen" reading, complete with a hard-hitting beat by Mangoose. The second half of the story was altered to have Morgan and Personette fall in love before their date really gets underway.
Lots of RECordings went into this and it was a great experience collaborating with everyone else on the site.

This is just a quick poster I made. I wasn't sure if there should be more color added and I haven't sifted through my fonts to find the *perfect* one.

I know its kinda late, but this is my HAPPY NEW YEAR vid ;) I thought I’d wait to RElease it on v4 and celebrate both the new year and the new production company :-P
basically its just 3point5minutes of fireworks. here in Hawai‘i fireworks are legal for July 4th & new year’s, however these large aerials and pipe bombs aren’t… though that doesn’t stop my neighbors from having massive firework shows right in the middle of the streets :-P

Tried my hand at some custom lettering and then decided to cut it up and remix it with some other things. :)
This is actually just a base for the poster.
What I see happening with this, maybe, is to have everyone who has contributed to Morgan M. Morgansen write out either their real name or handle in their own handwriting, and have all of the signatures encompass the heart. After all, each one of them had a hand in creating this project into what it's become, so everyone deserves some ownership of the poster, too. :)
This is actually 12x18 and 300 dpi (CMYK), but obviously scaled down so as not to eat up bandwidth.
Don't have any cool graphic design programs, but I do have music notation software. Here's my stipple-style image of Morgan and Destiny.
If you remix this, please use the "Corrected Image" version.

I never quite got the chance to contribute to the making of Morgan M. Morgansen, but watching the process and seeing the result(s) was really inspiring to me, so I thought I'd make a little something, which can be used if ever needed! **If it is needed, feel free to ask me for a larger version!
I haven't contributed anything to the grand and glorious Morgan Collaboration yet, but I have been watching all the contributions and have loved seeing this piece come together. At the same time, I was replaying 'The New Deal' and wondering if there was a small piece of it I might want to play around with. When it came to Joe describing how a collaborative project develops, I felt inspired to pay tribute to the wonderful blossoming of HitRECord's own Triple M.
Ok, let me know if this is better...or if it's better off being just b&w.
after seeing imagined's beautiful morgan & personette snow people, me & my sister created a paid eatslave to take their order...
(today is my sister's 27th birthday. it's snowing so hard in england at the moment, that my family are all snowed in & the restaurant hosting her party had to close, & therefore her birthday meal was cancelled. so, to cheer my sister up, i threw her an impromptu birthday party, which involved laughing our socks off while sculpting a snow foodpenguin's moobs & beer belly. he has twigs for nose hair and leaves for eyes.)
hopefully you can use this as the moon, I hope MMM date with destiny makes it to the sundance, and really good work it looks amazing.

I really wanted to add something to the Morgan M. Morgansen collaboration. I just loved how everything turned out in the live action version that Lawrie Brewster posted and wanted to give it a poster. Also kellibean's awesome poster made me want to make one too. so....yeah...
