Animated Susan0987's illustration of smweed's "Midas (Greek Tiny Story)" using the voice over from the live show at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This also has the potential to be expanded quite a bit to include the lead-up to the reading at the TIFF show, as well as the applause and all of that after the reading (similar in style and arrangement to my remix of Pamagotchi's "Wicked Witch" reading from the Fall Formal.)
Now I'm not sure if "Immortal Trees" is in the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, but I wanted to use pamagotchi's mystical (and magical) reading of the Tiny Story in some promotional way. I did some REmixing of horrorshock666's "Creation?" (which is very poetic.)
thehidingmushroom did an exceptional job of integrating turning pages into the ad campaign. That's present at the end here. Hopefully all the promos can somehow use his work. It's great!
If this Tiny Story isn't in the book, I can always REmix without the bumper stuff. <3
Here's a RE-REmix of caceth, tonguecutsparrow, and todd68976's latest "Immortal Trees" RECords.
Here are the latest alterations:
* New bookend title/logo
* Added pamagotchi's voice over to the beginning
* Moved the song later in the video
* Did some slight trimming to the animation at the end to coincide with the musical score
A visual REmix of my Tiny Story "The Duality of Man."
I was able to score performances from my pal Dan Chandler (whom you may have seen as a vampire in "Seeking Bloods") and his roomie Nick Griffin. Nick stars as Stephen and Dan co-stars as Ken, Stephen's neighbor.
chigwinkle did a fantastic reading of the story a ways back and I had been meaning to shoot some video for it for quite some time. Much thanks to him for the reading, and his patience.
I'll upload a bunch of raw footage from this shoot later on...
a tiny film cut of Noah Segan reading "The Diver" at the Vista show in California.
The High-Res file can be downloaded here: http://hitrecord.org/records/456438
Last summer Geno uploaded this really interesting footage entitled "The Talk Man." I did a rather serious type of Tiny Film remix while RegularJOE, well, went in another direction with his cut (to say the least - haha.)
And it's absolutely funny as all hell the way he cut his mix - right to the point.
Oh, and I also liked his title a lot too. It's another great part of the punchline set-up. Deceiving, ain't it?
So, over a year later, I decided to return to the footage and basically fuse the two versions together. I've made the intro to the character from my version slightly longer than before but used the same vocal clip and timing (more or less) that Joe used.
I just think the establishing shot sequence of outdoor location clips adds to the peaceful (and clearly misleading) set-up for the shocking profanity that follows.
Frank couldn't get a date.
His friends and family blamed his hideous mustache.
He blamed his goblin ears.
An illustration for Ericar's Tiny Story "Zombie Gentlemen."
Zombie Gentlemen by Ericar
Zombies are such gentlemen. They love you for your brain.
Updated the previous version of this, "Invincibility: Tiny Story," with new artwork (based on work by The MOCKery) and replaced the stock broker character with a lawyer. Slight text revision as well.
Another idea for text would be: "In the courtroom the lawyer was invincible... but dead inside."
The invincible stock broker happened to be dead inside.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Based this concept a bit on jamignott's "Tiny Story: Death is Obvious." Originally it was going to be the zombie-like character (with business exterior) saying "blah, blah, blah *croak*" but then I shifted the concept a bit.
This is definitely more of a mock-up rough draft; I'd love to see others' take on this.
A philosophical discussion ensues during a fireside poker match-up between wirrow and I. Maybe some REmixers can roll in and play with this? It could use some colors, a background, more props, a sky, and maybe different dialogue and additional characters? Oh... and animation?
Jimmy Tuck sketched with booze & cigarettes.
But he only drew blanks.
_____________________________________________________________________________
REmixed MadisenMusic's "Tiny Story: Jimmy Tuck" and focused more on the "drawing blanks" concept.
Ways to add on to this could be to create an art studio that he's in, or create an easel in front of him. Just some initial thoughts...
Here's a mock-up of one way to illustrate "Shady Shadow: TIny Story."
I like the overall arrangement and the characters (so far.) The text and the quote bubble could use some work (i.e. better placement and style.)
Perhaps the character has a prop or two (a briefcase with money leaking out of it a bit, or something suggestive of theft or whatever.)
The gun the shadow is holding could use some work too (looks like he is pointing as it's drawn now.)
Basically this is a rough sketch just to play around with if anyone's interested...
Horns are so 1200 B.C.
Note: I can upload just the artwork (no text) if anybody wants to remix it in any way. :)
An illustration for MadisenMusic's "Tiny Story: Hursery."

Ok I'll admit, I have a few skeletons in my closet; but they weren't skeletons when I put them there.
Thought I'd do something a bit diabolical for Dee's diabolical "Clowns" Tiny Story. zeogle had some wonderful illustrations to remix in his "Circus Sketches" RECord.
Note: I left the text at the bottom so that the main imagery at the top would be easily remixable.
Don't shoot the messenger...

Don't worry. The pollution got me long ago.

It's customary to be afraid in this day and age.
I drew some artwork of Richard Nixon for my Tiny Story "Options."
Marielv's latest animation is truly cinematic. Her visualization of the atmosphere wirrow created in just a few lines is both eerie and hopeful. She's created Planet of the Pylons.
For this REmix I changed up the voiceover to Stuart's (it's tough to use Rian's reading without including the applause from the SITC crowd) and I went with a different score. Perhaps it adds sadness at first, but I like the rise in the tone when the book pages dissolve in. I'm hoping people find that this REmix exits tonally on a positive note.
There's a few changes to the video in this version: I de-saturated the animated sequence and I adjusted the dissolve to white from the snow at the beginning to be one continuous transition. Additionally there is the page-turning animation at the end.
Marielv kicks ass, eh?! <3
Note: This is low-res. I just wanted to upload something small so it would encode.
When Stuart Twobay posted "Electricity Pylons- New narration" earlier, I just had to RE-REmix the version I did last week. I find his reading to be truly riveting and full of wonder. It really lured me into the atmosphere that wirrow created.
The original REmix with Rian Johnson's live reading is REsourced below. I think the contrast between the two is very interesting.
Toss put together an amazing REmix of Metaphorest's "Imaginary Friends" Tiny Story. It was one of the best examples of pooled REsources I've come across on the site. She got all the right feelings down and it was a very emotional RECord. I made a few changes to her version and used a few additional REsources here and there.
The first two attempts at uploading this video failed to encode (and I had to correct a minor visual error) so I RE/REmixed it for all of those that missed out on seeing what Marielv contributed to the original footage I shot with my pal Dan Chandler as a blood seeking vampire.
Here's a REcap of this project:
This was a big collaborative effort that took almost five months to completely come together. wirrow wrote the Tiny Story "seeking bloods" in early June and I shot the vampire footage with my friend Dan Chandler a few weeks later. But the footage needed some key animation to move forward.
This past week the project was resurrected by hitRECorder Marielv, whose wonderful bat animation and titling added just what the video needed to move to the next phase; the next phase being narration.
The voice over contributions were fantastic as always. After playing around with a few options, I decided to use pamagotchi's reading. I REmixed a few takes together and found she captured the campy b-movie vibe I ended up going with on the production.
Thanks again to everyone who was involved in this one. It was really a fun experience to have all of these components come together in order to REmix wirrow's mysterious Tiny Story. I had a blast!
Additional sound effects are from www.sounddogs.com

For this illustration of Blodnasir's "righttoleft" I made a projectionist the main character so that they could be depicted re-splicing film to make the heartbreak come first, and then the love come after (after the "reel change" - marked by the circle in the upper right hand corner of the broken heart filmstrip frame to add to the projectionist theme a bit.)
I've been on kind of a public domain kick lately and I didn't really want to put up another REmix using stock footage, but I kind of had no choice when adapting deeasherself's wonderful Tiny Story "My Dad Is An FBI Agent."
I used the following public domain videos:
"Fire! Patty Learns What to Do" - http://www.archive.org/details/FirePat1951
"FBI Hostage Rescue Team" - http://www.archive.org/details/gov.archives.arc.12175
A bit on the political side? Sure. A comment on Nixon and Vietnam? Absolutely.
I'm not a political person at all. I just want peace and freedom.
I used some very valuable public domain footage for this and put the links below.
"War Made Easy"

"Earth Zero Hour"

Geno's "The Talk Man" was a captivating RECord. It seemed like a fragment of a bigger story about the subject, and yet - as a viewer - we were shown a wide range of emotions in such a short amount of time.
I wanted to REmix it without the profanity, but I wanted to preserve the way i felt about the man. So I REmixed the video and the dialogue a bit into the structure of a Tiny Story. The words seem secondary to what this man says with his face.
This is a REmix of the Tiny Story "A is for Astronaut" by deeasherself. This Tiny Story jumped out at me because it triggered my imagination instantly: What happened to the Captain? Who is the narrator? What is the mission they are on?
What I tried to do with various editing techniques, and very novice "special effects," is to create the accident that sent the Captain into the abyss of space. The public domain footage I used didn't have any accident footage so I had to try and cut something together that resembled one. Hopefully that comes through in the video.

JonMac's "tiny story - LGM" is an exceptional addition to wirrow's collab. To quote wirrow, JonMac "gets it."
When REmixing this into a video I had to take some creative liberties and REmix the actual text. It's sometimes unavoidable when it comes to a video simply due to the fact that one is constrained to available video.
But with exceptional resources like "Child's Play," it makes altering text a bit easier because the footage is very easy to incorporate into JonMac's original idea.
Without going on forever, I just wanted to add that I interpreted "LGM" to be less sci-fi and more of a poem about growing up. So much of our childhood innocence gets lost by the seriousness of being an adult. But so often we blame "society" for this. Sometimes I think we lose that innocence on our own and just don't acknowledge that possibility...

The kids shined flashlights at the moon to signal the little green men who lived there.
Years later, the little green men came down to visit, but nobody believed in them any more.
* Note: This could definitely use a revamped UFO in the background.

In my opinion there was really only one Video RECord that could have matched up with bmaesays's {risque} Tiny Story "He Wears a Suit," and that RECord is AvaLeFou's "West Virginia Slims."
This is essentially part cologne ad and part Tiny Story REmix.
...And another really appreciative thank you to amysz for responding to my request for a reading of the text. She did an outstanding job! And she's a great reminder of the community here. <3
I drew this picture for the Tiny Story "He Wears a Suit" and did some post-production manipulation of the scanned image to makeit a bit grittier.
A REmix of the strange "My Grandfather: A Tiny Story" I wrote earlier using some awesome visual footage from Mr.Green and a soundtrack by JenniferYeung and Ryan Patrick.
This is a visual REmix of my "Typewriters" Tiny Story.
nontoxiccolors wrote a really intriguing text RECord, REsourcing a photo I had taken of a store that had gone out of business and plastered its windows with old newspapers.
I REmixed his RECord into a Tiny Story for wirrow's collaboration.
The following Public Domain footage was used:

This is the low-res version. The high-res version for REmixing purposes can be downloaded here: http://hitrecord.org/records/279925 Here's a video REmix of aszarkowski's "tiny story: cigarettes (a REmix)" which was a REmix of "Tiny Story: Cigarettes"by MadisenMusic. A huge round of thanks to all those that contributed voice overs on the fly at my REquest a little while ago. All of them were so wonderful, unique, and funny. LilacAmy11's reading just so happened to fit into the way I had crafted the video REsources. I'd love to see and hear others' REmixes of this Tiny Story. On a side note, I just have to say that RECharged's scream is one of the funniest sounds ever.
I REmixed TwistedThursday's "As One" Tiny Story into this short video. I edited some of the text a bit to fit the visuals I shot, so you'll notice it's slightly different than the REsource. What really drew me to this Tiny Story was that it really worked as a literal story (ice into water.) But I really feel that, symbolically, it speaks volumes about what some people feel about life and death - that we are reunited with those we love after this life. For the past day the story really stayed with me and it continues to affect me. I'm not really sure what TwistedThursday's original intention was with the piece (maybe literal, maybe a bit more symbolic) but what makes all art so important is that it is up to the viewer how it is interpreted. I hope TwistedThursday likes how I perceived her beautiful piece of writing.
I wrote this Tiny Story to accompany Bree's cool painting video, which I REmixed and cut to tonguecutsparrow's awesome tune "waxing gnathonic."
I wanted to reflect on some of the statements that Joe made about his latest RECord, "hojoborrow re: Beginning," and create almost like a Tiny Story as a companion piece to that, and today's Regularity. Then ntheon posted "What You Take Away" while this RECord was rendering and it was interesting to see so many people involved with these ideas about meaning and creation.
Personally I think that any artistic process should be one of spontaneity. Because that's what makes it a product of the heart. The heart says things that have no endings. Just beginnings.
HarperHippie's mom did some wonderful voiceover work on the RECord "Younger..." (based on RegularJOE's Tiny Story REmix "When I Was Younger.")
I wanted to bring that Tiny Story to life but had trouble finding video on the site for what I wanted to convey visually. So, unfortunately, I had to go digging over at archive.org. (don't get me wrong, I love archive.org. I'd just rather use video from hitRECord.)
Hopefully we can get some uploads of old home movies in a variety of formats from the community. it'd be great to have old footage in VHS, 8mm, or 16mm so these types of REmixes can be made with on-site footage. :)
The following public domain video was used:
"1956 Munnecke Family Sock Hop"
http://www.archive.org/details/Munnecke-1956MunneckeFamilySockHop590
I adapted wirrow's "weena" and incorporated Duane's "Stupid F*&%ING LAUNDRY IN THE CHI" into the story; thus changing the name of the Tiny Story in the process.
This Tiny Story was something I wanted to adapt for quite some time and Duane's footage provided the opportunity. I was going to go into a laundromat once with my own camera but I glanced inside and get that paranoid feeling. So I put the project on the back burner until this morning.
I love the simplicity of wirrow's "weena." To me it represented frustration. When i was thinking of how to close this piece I originally thought of just cutting to black after the second-to-last shot of Duane sitting, still watching the clothes spin. But I really liked the shot of him getting his laundry out and putting it into the basket.
He had a pretty blank expression, which worked for the closing moment I was going for - which was when he gives up. His "wish" never came true and he has to deal with it. So he packs up and moves on. Defeated by reality.
Maybe I'm reaching a bit with that idea, but that's what I was going for. haha
I really liked the creative directions that rachelb and nontoxiccolors were going in with regards to KarizzMarie's "Tiny Story." It's quite a piece of writing; one of longing and also one that defies the sense of time we all live by.
So it touched upon some interesting themes, something that all of the Tiny Stories do a marvelous job at. And in so very few words too. So here's my take on KarizzMarie's "Tiny Story."
It seemed to be untitled, so I named this REmix "Time: A Tiny Story."
The streamable version can be viewed here: http://hitrecord.org/records/288348
Here is a Tiny Story video REmix of "Ghosts" by wirrow in book bumper format. You can purchase the Tiny book of Tiny Stories here: http://hitrecord.org/store/tiny_book.html
This is a short and to the point adaptation REmix of Wirrow's "a tiny story about dusts" featuring one of the first RECords to come out of Sundance.

HelloLindsayyyyyy and crispyfuller collaborated on a funny live action video of HelloLindsayyyyyy's Tiny Story "Monster." Their concept is really good, especially the inclusion of the potato chips.
Here's a REmix with a few changes. The original structure is there but there's a new voice over, shorter cuts, and different bumpers.
An illustration for MRT's Tiny Story "Robert." I decided to only show the side of his body with two arms rather than an entire figure so that it segued into the text more.
Robert by MRT
My friends always call me Octokid but I only have three arms. They should just call me Robert.
I had an interesting experience filming and cutting this RECord. When I shot it on my bike ride to the beach today I simply intended to do a "music video" or something straightforward. I shot all kinds of angles and scenery en route to the water and decided to wrap up the raw footage by tossing the bike to the ground and getting down to the water (keeping with the mostly first person/shadow motif.)
And I basically cut it that way too. Not much of a narrative to it, but I like to cut to music that strikes me so I was okay with the original final product.
But then I figured I'd see if any poem or quote on the site related to what I'd just put together. And there was "The Bicycle," a Tiny Story by tommacarte.
What I found particularly interesting was how the story seemed to be symbolic of not only the bike, but the rider character too. Aren't we all "chained up" inside a bit too often? Don't we get the same rush as the bike in the story gets by going down a hill? Or, in this case, reaching the ocean.
When i completed it, with tommacarte's story added to the end, I also thought of how great the ending to Coppola's "Rumble Fish" is when Rusty James makes it to the beach of California. I was very pleased to have made something today that, to me, paralleled that finale. It's one of the best endings out there if you ask me.
I REmixed moonbug's "Clouds" Tiny Story by utilizing some awesome time lapse photography and sound effects from the site.
This is very simple and I hope it pays the proper homage to its REsources.
A new variation on the ongoing REmix of tlee's "Lost" Tiny Story.
I added sound effects, a touch of letterbox, and made some minor audio alterations.
Who has something to add to this video, and title?
I REmixed cebeevc's "Orion" Tiny Story using some really great pieces of animation by Tori and RK Bear. I RECorded the voice over at home and found what I felt was the perfect musical score to the original text RECord: "Immanence" by Expoobident.
This is the REvised version of my original "The Bee: REmix" from Dani's Tiny Story.
v2 now includes new animation from silent butterfly featuring a batch of roses that really help the visuals tell the story.
I REmixed venns' Tiny Story "The Turn Around" using footage of our man Morgan and his Destiny.
Odd, to say the least.
This is a visual adaptation of aurora188's "Stream" Tiny Story.
My SD card ran out as I was shooting stream footage so I would have liked to have made the stream's journey a bit more epic (and included a waterfall nearby my apartment) but in the interest of time I used what I had. Maybe I'll REmix it again down the road...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm a huge fan of the Tiny Story collaboration. Such great work is coming out of it and it's wonderful to be a part of such an enormously inspiring, and fun, project.
I drew an interpretation of a member of "the glow gang" from wirrow's Tiny Story. I envisioned the gang member exhibiting a bit of high end fashion whilst carrying a very retro boombox up to his ear.
* Note: This is much more of a foreground drawing. I think a heavily decayed background in very thin lines would really make this pop a bit more. Maybe an artist could jump in on this and craft something behind the character? ;)
I drew an interpretation of "Imaginary Bob" from starkjanus' Tiny Story. I envisioned him as more of a valour-sweatsuit-wearing-swindler kind of imaginary friend.
* Note: I wanted to incorporate only a little bit of the car in the background, but I think that turned out pretty lousy. Maybe a graphic designer could extract Bob from this and put him into a cooler-looking background with a car and maybe some neighborhood scenery. ;)
Here's a mock-up of how I envisioned "Dream Psychology: a tiny story" being illustrated. So if there are any illustrators here that want to see what they can do with this concept/mock-up, by all means gooooo for it!
Essentially it is of a boy or girl in bed sleeping holding their think bubble full of wonderful dreams like it's a pillow.
There are lots of visual collages on the site that could be used to make the thought bubble/pillow.
REMIX AWAYYYY!!!! :)
Here's a basic mock-up of a possible concept for the "Sleepyheads" illustration. You see the bed and the pillows... but not the couple. They're under the covers. Not sleeping.
I did include a bit of their feet coming out of the sheets, but surely this (and the rest of the illustration) could be done a whole lot better. Just wanted to throw this mock-up out there in cartoon style to see if anyone wanted to remix it.
Here's a rough draft of one way Alex Borstein's reading of wirrow's "tiny story, bed" could be remixed.
I used some of Marielv and creative_green13's animation for the visual-intercut section, and as it stands now it's a bit improvised since there hasn't been a direct visual remix of the story... but these resources seemed to tell the story. :)
This is Version 2 of a tiny film of Noah Segan reading "The Diver" during the "hitRECord at the Movies" show at the Vista. The main changes occur when Noah begins reading and when he finishes. The transitions in and out of the story's animated sequence are tweaked.
Played around a bit with 12:42's "Proposition... (a tiny film)" and brought it down from a minute+ to just over 30 seconds to fit in line with most of the other Tiny Films.
Essentially the beginning was altered a little bit, and the end as well. The middle section was reduced quite a bit due to length. I tried to sample the parts I thought were the stand out moments and fit them into a remixed musical soundtrack.
This version is now just shorter all around and tightened up a bit.
Changes from V1:
1) Increased the volume of the voice over.
2) Removed the cough during the dialogue.
Two additions to the previous version:
* Close-up establishing shot of RegularJOE on stage
* No end bumper
Here is a remix of "The Outsider (tiny animation)" by Eskapurla.
These are some editorial notes:
* Added a title card during the establishing shot at the beginning
* Used a voiceover by steviestar3
* No music
* Altered the timing of the animation to coincide with the reading (extended some frames and sped up a few frames where aplicable)
* Added sound effects of nature, waves, seagulls, etc.
* Made the last shot the big wave and cut to black instead of the hR logo
The postman finally started wearing a bullet-proof vest.
I felt Day Glo hit the nail on the head with one of his takes of "Goblin Ears." I was eager to mix in his voice over and sort of create a first version of this Tiny Film.
The "VO REquest" is resourced below, so anyone can upload their reading. This first version will help provide the timing of some of the visual cues, so it would be best to watch this while doing any readings.
Put together a Tiny Film for MadisenMusic's "Sleep Contrast" Tiny Story.
I would like to tighten up the intro with the couple. I'll probably cut from them in the two shot and maybe silhouette the backs of their heads with a reworked composition of the TV. The hand-holding is a bit distracting I think and doesn't really establishinsomnia in any waY.
"The scientist had a lab..."
This Tiny Film needs several things from the community. Below are some notes for each request:
1) VOICE OVER
- The best way to time the reading of yes-you-am's story is to read along with the video (and you'll probably want to conclude the reading before the dissolve into winter.)
- Here is the text: In the end, he just decided to call it an early Christmas decoration.
- I'd imagine the vocal tone to be pretty matter-of-fact. There probably shouldn't be much expression in the reading I'd imagine. It's pretty straight forward as it's essentially a narrator making a statement.
- As always, multiple takes are key when doing readings. Uploading as many takes with as much variety as possible is crucial.
2) MUSIC
- Since the video is quite short, I think the music should be pretty subtle. There is a transformation of seasons, and from light to dark. That's probably the best way to think of how the score should sound and I envision a slight shift in tone during the dissolve into winter.
- The more variety in musical options, the better. Feel free to upload with the music attached to the video (especially if there are certain cues that need to be emphasized.)
3) SOUND F/X
- Sound effects are not necessarily crucial to the piece, but they may add a nice touch.
- I think some birds chirping during the summer section may be nice.
- I think for the winter part that some soft breeze rolling in as the snow begins to fall may also be a nice subtle touch.
*ADDITIONAL NOTES*
- I can always adjust the timing and play around with the animation further. This is pretty much a rough draft visual-wise.
- My biggest concern at the moment is that the kite stands out enough to the viewer. Surely the narrator will help alert the viewer to it but I do want to be sure the eye notices it rather quickly when the animation sequence first begins.
- If anyone has any suggestions for additions, alterations, etc. then please leave a remark.
THANKS!
New version featuring a voice over, ambient sound effects, a subtle musical score, Christmas lights in the winter sequence, a new establishing shot of the kite at the beginning, and a cameo by Santa and his reindeer.
This is still a work in progress, so please upload some readings and/or musical compositions to accompany the animation. Thanks!

For this illustration of meaganmoore's Tiny Story I wanted to emphasize the storyteller and present a man who looks like he could indeed tell a great story that adults might not beleieve in.
