30 seconds to pique your curiosity about my debut as a traditional writer/director
SPARKS is a 23-minute short film adapted from the Elmore Leonard short story of the same name. That fiery image of feminine intrigue is Carla Gugino, and Eric Stoltz also stars in it.
I've RECorded a lot of videos, even used film now and again, but this is the first time I've ever gotten to don the traditional writer/director hat.
We finally finished the damn thing late last year. This last january, it had the distinct honor of premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. I can't think of a venue more sanctified in my psyche than Sundance, and I'm thusly grateful for such an opportunity.
And now, at long last, the little guy has found a way out into the world for everyone to see. McSweeney's/Wholphin is putting it on their next DVD along with Spike Jonze and other awesome shorts. Check them out at...
