Your best friend’s voice on the phone in the night
when life didn’t go as planned.

Your dog running to greet you at the door,
even thought you were gone but a minute.
Parents going to every dance recital and play,
and loving them because you were in it.

And although trumpets and cupids abound,
Simple, real love is the best thing around.
