When I first started working on this REmix I searched "fire" in the public domain archives and got a bunch of Cold War era propaganda films that seemed to use fear to get everyone all fired up. My mom actually remembered having to watch these films in school as a kid. Anyways, I thought I'd mix the two different ends of the spectrum--fire as a creative force/thing of beauty and fire as a tool of fear.
Then I tried to mix layers upon layers upon layers in rapid repetition to cut to the beat and to keep up with the pace of the music as it gets faster. I also added in a sound effect at the beginning of a match being lit. This was definitely a crazy, fun challenge and different from the editing I normally do!
I'm still compiling the list of all my resources that i used, and I'll add that to this RECord.
The public domain videos were:
"Duck and Cover" (this one's a classic!)
"Vision in the Forest"
"The House in the Middle"
"A Day Called X" (footage of a test evacuation of Portland during the Cold War)
"Make Mine Freedom" (weird cartoon)
"Mighty Mouse: Wolf! Wolf!" (another cartoon)

Thanks for watching!
