You extend your arm and open a familiar hand, One with broken dreams and hearts in tow, You’re surprised when I reject its subtle grace, But the flesh outstretched, my friend, I do not know,
The lines of irregularity trace an unknown life, Their unique patterns wrap around twisted bones, Gnarled and broken from the damage you’ve done, From the scatters left behind of polite drones,
And those nails grow out like vultures beaks, Waiting to tear apart all magnificent things, The beauty I once saw in your pulsing veins, Is now muted by the horror that it sings,
The freckles on the back of your palm, Now in an unrecognizable disarray, Like stars stretched out in the night sky, Beaten out of place during the day,
So I must reject your skeletal remains, There are others, who will watch your show, But I’ve no patience for the words of strangers, Or holding outstretched hands I no longer know.
