Welcome newcomers! Allow us to introduce ourselves...

hitRECord is a mass collaborative RECording arts project in progress. What does "hit RECord" mean exactly? Scroll down a bit, and there's a video I RECorded a couple years ago regarding that very question. Sound makes audio RECords, light makes image and video RECords, words make text RECords. Movies, songs, stories, photos, poems, cartoons, essays, we call a lot of different things RECords. But it's not only things -- it's an action. To hit that red REC button, to take a picture, to write something down, really just to be creative, that's what we mean when we say hit RECord.

Mass collaborative? Yeah, we're all doing this thing together. Even the page you're on right now, this is a Collaboration page. If you scroll down further you'll see two lists of RECords that various hitRECorders have contributed to this INTRO. Resources are RECords that aren't necessarily finished works by themselves, but are contributed in hopes that they might serve as useful ingredients later on. What we do is find the Resources that really hit our hearts and remix them into new RECords called Results.

Of course a RECord doesn't have to be part of a pre-planned Collaboration like this one to make a good Resource. Our one Regulation here (see the link at the bottom of every page) is that by Releasing our RECords on hitRECord.org, we are inviting our fellow hitRECorders to remix, refine, represent and reRECord them. So any RECord can be a Resource. I know for me, seeing one of my RECords cited as a Resource and reRECorded into a new Result is more gratifying than the highest compliment.

Take a look around. From the menu at the top of any page, the Home page is a good place to start, or try Searching for something that inspires you. When you're ready to start participating, hit the REC link on the right side of that same menu. Again by heart...
