A page to organize our 11/11 RECords. Trying to make this particular creative process as transparent as possible...
Been building up to this 11/11 date for a while, eh? Here's what I'd like to do today. I'd like to sort of show you how I do this. So that we can begin to do it together even better.
Usually, I'm not quite this forthcoming. I don't like releasing "raw" RECords. It can be embarrassing. I prefer to edit the video -- to reRECord -- the Resources into a Result before I Release it as a RECord here on hitRECord for anyone and everyone to play now and forevermore.
But today is not normal. And I guess that's the point. I want what I do today to become what does usually happen. I want to begin to more proactively refining our collaborative reRECording process.
So today, I am going to Release these raw RECords. Is it clear what I mean by the word 'raw'? I don't just mean it in an ODB "baby I like it raw" sort of way, although I guess there's a bit of that in it too. I mean, the files directly off my camera, having just RECorded them, and having not yet refined them at all.
So I'll Release some Raw RECords today. Contribute them to this Collaboration. And as I reRECord them into new Results, I'll Release those. I'll open up the process that I normally reserve for my own private creative habits. So we can do the whole thing together.
I'm RECording this Collaboration at 11:11 am on 11/11/09. I haven't even finished writing the description, but I can revise that later. The video files I want to initially Contribute as Resources are still being compressed, but I can Release those later. In fact, this Collaboration page might be just about empty when I RECord it at 11:11 am. But that's fine. Let's just get this started, ready or not, and see what we can do together.
You guys have already thrown in loads of great stuff that'll go into this RECord by the time it's done. If you Contribute any RECord you've Released that you think is relevant to this Collaboration, it'll help us stay organized. Or I can probably find a lot of the stuff just by searching etc.
And when is it done? Tonight at 11:11 pm? No, I'm sure not. Is it done at Sundance? Sounds like a contender. Perhaps it'll be done when I die. Or perhaps it will continue as long as this pattern we've come to know as ourselves exists in any way shape or form.
Even when it is done, we can always start it up again...
