Okay - here is the latest psycho idea I've had.  I am startiing a collab that involves as many people as possble in singing La Las for 8 bars each.  It's freeform, but there are rules.

1. Organize the RECords in this COLLAB by "most recent".

2. Select the latest, and use your own mixing software to make it the root track (stem).

3. Starting with the last four bars of the very last addition, sing harmony.

4. Continue singing for four bars after that.

5. ONLY sing those 8 bars.  You may be tempted to add to the harmony in earlier spots, but please don't - when we are ready for that (after we have over four minutes of la las in a row), we'll begin a new round.

6. Mix down the two stems, and RECord the result as a .WAV file - then add your RECord to this COLLAB.

7. Use headphones!!!!!

There is no overall tempo - there is no overall key - there is no overall time signature. Of course, your own addition should have it's own tempo, key, and time signature (which will at least be in the same tempo and time signature as the person previous to you for four bars - but with your added harmony, YOU set the key for those four overlapping bars), but it doesn't have to be like the rest of the song.

Rests count, so count them in your head if you intend to add any, and the person RECording after that should choose to rest or sing on their own, in the last four bars of what you added. Sing whole notes, half notes, quarter notes - or even 1/64th notes if the mood (and your skill) so moves you. Your four overlapping bars do not have to match the same length of note that the person prior to you used.  In fact, it would make this more interesting if you did not match the previous person beat for beat - although it could get a little complex!

I would start this off, but I don't want to force the direction, so I will  jump in after four or five others have done this.

If you come back to add your RECord to the collab, and find someone else has already done so, then please grab theirs and continue.  As this grows (and I hope it does) if two or more people RECord the same "next in the sequece" addition, it is the FIRST one added that counts. If you do come back to the collab to find someone else added the part you just did, PLEASE do not add yours to the collab - just go ahead and make your additions to the one that was added while you were away.

One more thing - pick your spot in the crowd.  In other words, pan left or right according to where you would like to stand in the choir!

I don't know where this will go, but I think it will be fun.  Be the first - it will be the ONLY four bars that are solo besides the last four bars.

(and you don't have to stick to "la" for the word - you can use any "word" you want to provided it is not a real word.  OOOh, AAAH, dooo, woooo, meeee, and other similar sounds are all acceptable).

If you have any questions, just ask and I'll try to answer you.

I hope everybody wants to play!
