Manifesto Audio/Visual layer Collab at: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/30013
Hi everyone! I want to thank you all very much for the text records that you contributed to the Manifesto! (Please keep doing so if you have more to say.)
But this is HitRECord and we would be fools to think that a traditional text-only Manifesto could contain our spirit! So I am pleased to say that, thanks to Pixel Pilgrim, it's time to take this to the next layer!

Pixel Pilgrim had an awesome, heartfelt idea that she recorded for us here. But I didn't want it to get lost in there under all the text records. And since we're going to be working in a new medium - resourcing these texts - I thought it would be easier to start a shiny new Collaboration thread so that everything is easier to find and work with for this new layer.
So if you want to help make our Manifesto an audio/visual experience, here's where to do it: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/30013

ORIGINAL TEXT for this Collaboration:
It occurred to me - EDIT: and in the comments for 1/9 you'll see that Jared has posted that he and Joe were ALSO discussing this and need it for press releases etc, so they would appreciate if you contribute ASAP - that this NEW DEAL might attract some folks who are looking for traditional "success" in their artistic ventures and might not understand the spirit of free collaboration and genuine creative openness that made it possible for HitRECord to become the WORLD'S FIRST OPEN SOURCE PRODUCTION COMPANY!

Because things would not have progressed to this turning point if not for the love of creation - regardless of profit or fame - that longtime HitRECorders share. But after Sundance and the press that is starting to happen, we're likely to get a LOT of new folks here. Which is great... as long as they know how to play nicely and be open - which can be hard for many artists.

So in the interest of helping newcomers - who may be initially attracted by the prospect of getting their whatever produced and may be driven by more traditional definitions of "success," I thought that we could all write something about what HitRECord.org has offered us all these years that kept us coming back to play together, and also we could each define what we feel is the "spirit" of this place.

I just think it would benefit newcomers who might not understand that this is a COMPLETELY new kind of Production Company to understand what kind of people and place this really is. But I don't believe that any one of us can define it. Not even Joe. Because it wouldn't really convey the spirit of HitRECord if the description of it were not a collaborative effort.

So if anyone out there feels this is a good idea and would like to add their thoughts, perhaps you could all post them here and then they could all be edited together into something that new collaborators would find accessible and useful.

Thanks for reading!
