As you know, on hitRECord, we only Release RECords to which we have the rights. As I've said, in my opinion, the intellectual property laws these days are way out of date. But, the law is the law, and since we've become a legit professional production company, we follow the law.

So even though the norm online is to post stuff by other people, we don't do it here. We incorporate each other's work into our own, but that's because we've all agreed to do that together.

Now, here's the exception. There are certain RECords that we could Release here that are not ours, and those are RECords in what's known as "The Public Domain." Content in the Public Domain is not owned or controlled by anyone. Usually because it's older than our current intellectual property laws. Shakespeare is public domain, as is ancient Greek literature and theater, Mark Twain, etc, etc.

So on this Collaboration page, I'd like to gather up some Public Domain material that you guys think we could turn into great projects.

Here's a decent place to start... http://www.gutenberg.org/catalog/
Project Gutenberg hosts a ton of online books, all in Public Domain. Choose a good passage, maybe a a few pages, something that would make a good RECord between, say, a minute and ten minutes long. Paste that passage into a text RECord and contribute it to this collaboration. We'll all start reading through the various suggestions, recommend the ones we like, and soon we'll see which pieces of material we're all resonating with.

And there, I believe, we'll have the beginnings of something great!
