HAIKU...
... is an ancient Japanese form of expression where poetry meets art. I learned this in middle school, and had a lot of fun way back then on the class assignment. I must have written 100 Haikus - none of which I have anymore.
Although there are many opinions of Haiku as a style (and you can read all about them if you Google the word "HAIKU"), the rules are simple in the English language - 17 syllables broken down into three lines of 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and then 5 more syllables in the third line. It's ironic, then, that this is the Haiku I wrote that gave me the idea to start this collab:
Poetry was born
Freedom of thought without rules
Structure not allowed
I have listed the other two existing collabs on Haiku as resources, along with Wirrow's Tiny Stories. This Collaboration is slightly different than the other two,and more along the lines of Wirrow's collab, with the point being to have writers AND artists AND musicians contribute to make a book or animation, or whatever or wherever this goes.
Yes - You CAN write Haiku music - I've contributed a ululele example that I just laid down a few minutes ago off the top of my head! It is what it is - an example for you all to consider and think about making better contributions (shouldn't be too hard to do! - lol)
The reason Haiku is Haiku is because ART is combined with Poetry - or the WAY the words are written is art itself! There are lots of Haiku RECords here, and I hope that the writers will contribute their existing records to this collab. I also hope that artists will read a few Haikus and be motivated to draw - and then HAND WRITE the Haiku onto the art work (don't use fonts on commercial work). Here is the headline Haiku that I am writing AS I write this introduction for this collab:
Words, Art, Music, joined!
Haiku Collab to make book!
ALL hitRECord - YAY!
I JUST made that up! See, its EASY to write Haiku - everyone can do it - spread the word!
AND - don't worry if your Haiku's not good enough - just follow the rules and hitRECord!!! AND - HAVE FUN!!!!
