Hi all! I hope you're having a swell night. I don't know what script was selected for the skit at the Fall Formal. I don't have to, I'm sure whichever one it was, Joe and his accomplice performed it beautifully and everyone had a great time watching it :)
Here we are after the show's over and what do we have? I'm guessing a lucky few have some awesome memories from the night. I wouldn't be surprised if a good portion of those lucky few got footage from the Fall Formal to remember it by. However much footage we may have, I can say this for sure: we have 140 scripts for scenes that "could" have happened at the Fall Formal.
SOOOOOOO... I got an idea.
What do you think about us taking all these scripts, hackin', slashin', slicin', dicin', editin' and meshin' them all together into a single script that would run around one hour to two hours long and then finding a way to integrate actual footage from the live event (a genuine recording of the show if they filmed it and any footage supplied by other RECreators if it fit the bill) and put it together as a movie?
It just seems like if we have the materials already at hand (written content, footage, a venue that we could probably arrange to film at if necessary, etc) we may as well take what we got and milk it for all it's worth.
[Note: I basically just added everyone who submitted a script as resources as I figured they would be the most interested in pursuing this if anyone was. The one exception is fractuldust's "Fall Formal REmix" which I added as a way of saying thanks since I used it as a thumbnail. There were three or four people who I couldn't get their record to appear while trying to add them, so if I missed your record I apologize. Peace!]
Welcome one and all! This is the place where all those scripts that were submitted for the Fall Formal go to be made into something new. For those who need the backstory, RegularJOE had all of us interested RECreators put together script submissions for a skit to be performed at an event called the Fall Formal. Alas, only one could be selected. It was AND it was awesome!
But we had so many other scripts! We decided that being all shiny and new they needed to be used in a creative way. And this is where that is being done! Er, where it's being centralized anyway.
Basically, we are going to take all the scripts and try to sort them together into vignettes that can then be combined into a larger filmed work. So, you have it all going on here from writers proposing edits to the scripts or trying to mesh them all together, to the cinematically inclined members of our guild performing and filming or editing material, to people offering advice on sound effects or good background music to integrate into the filmed portions to help set the mood. We kind of got a little bit of everything going here (at least, I foresee us having a little bit of everything going here) so feel free to take a look at anything people have posted. ALTHOUGH, you may want to start with the magnificent scripts that were posted to RegularJOE's original RECord, "Fall Formal: Theater Scene Collaboration". You can go to that RECord by clicking on the following link: http://hitrecord.org/records/513657
[Note: When I attempted using that link, I couldn't get to the right RECord earlier. All but about three or four of the RECords submitted are Resourced to the "From the Fall Formal's Ashes: Recycling Our Scripts" RECord, so I'm putting a link to those Resources here: http://hitrecord.org/records/536778/resources
If that also doesn't work then just click on the Featured RECord and when you get to it click on its Resources.]
For the sake of ease, since there are several methods being looked at for using the skits from the Fall Formal, we are tentatively going to adopt a sort of "reservation" system. Basically, if you want to use a skit's script for a medium, please comment on the Featured Record letting me know the name of the skit and the medium. I'll add them to the associated listing here on the collab. This doesn't preclude your using a skit that is in process for a different medium. Rather it is just a way for all of us to keep track of what works are currently being utilized and which still need someone to explore their potential. In the event you discontinue a project, please let me know so I can take it off the listing. Thanks for your participation! Below are the currently reserved skits -
Current FILM reservations: "The Path of the Righteous" by Edward Shallow; "A Covert Operation (Fall Formal Theatre)" by Day Glo; "Fall Formal Script: 'Blind Date'" by fractaldust; "Proposal Practice" by asbeck01; "The Intermission" by Lucka; "In Unexpected Places" by anautumnsong
Current AUDIO reservations: "What All Women Want" by Thewhitelady; "Mating Rituals of the Mutually Awkward" by RedHeadMonster
Now, currently the Featured RECord on this collab is the original RECord where the idea to recycle the skits was suggested. It is my suggestion that you use this RECord as a bulletin board to share your thoughts and suggestions on directions. Have something you want to discuss? Add your remark on the RECord. I will do my best to keep an eye on it and let everyone know when new remarks have been added by updating the text below. "# of remarks" is the number of current remarks shown on the bulletin board; "Last Updated" is the last time I updated that number.
# of Remarks: 25
