(firstly forgive my grammaticals mistakes, I speak and write in french)
I'm so surprised to find less than 10 RECords about haïku!! Maybe it isn't well known for english writers, but you all MUST try to write an kaïku. So, what's a fucking haïku? It's a type of old japanese poetry that becomes more popular in other langages last century. You all know that japaneses uses sinograms to whrite, so an haïku is, for them, a poem of three sinograms. For us, it looks formally like this :
this
is
an haïku
Three short lines. NO MORE. You don't have to make sentences. I give you some traditionnal japenese haïkus to help you to understand (that I translate from french, sorry if it sounds strange) :
Even
when my father was dying
I was farting [Sôkan Yamazaki]
Two breasts
magnificient
and a mosquito [Issa Kobayashi]
In the old pond
a frog jumps
the sound of water [Basho Matsuo]
There's 3 rules :
1- BE SHORT (three lines, 3-4 words by line)
2- USE SENSES (images, songs, scents, tastes, do not talk about emotion, thought or abstract concept, create it)
3- CREATE A FEELING (create an emotion, a strong image, a laugh or a shock)
Now let's have fun. I warn you, this is addictive, once you write one, you'll write a hundred in a week...
