EDIT// I thought this could fit the theme of outsiders! :)

I have always loved sojushots' amazing illustration "let down your hair", and now it inspired me to write this song. It's a bit darker than the original story of rapunzel, just like the illustration. The same story, different ending! :))
I would love love love loove it if someone would add some accordian or strings to this song, you know, to build it up bigger, and then maybe in the final verses also some drums..... it would be awesome...... ;)

Here are the lyrics:
A man came across this old tower one day It was straight like from a book he once read He lifted his head up and saw this young lady And here's what the lady said:
CHORUS "Moi je m'appelle mademoiselle Noir Et comme vous pouvez le voir Je ne souris, ni ris, ni vis Et c'est tout ce qu'elle a dit"*
The man was so scared he could only run away He ran to the town and then said: "I just saw a lady with the longest dark hair And I think she's a living dead!"
The people, so scared, took their guns and their swords They ran to the tower and then They saw the pale lady and felt a great fear When they heard how she said it again:
CHORUS
The people, they knew what this all was about She was clearly a demon from hell They decided to set her long hair on fire In the end it would burn her as well
But the lady was no demon she was a lonely soul Just like in that book they once read Still waiting for her prince while her hair was on fire The one last time she said:
CHORUS
---
(*"Me, my name is miss Black And like you can see I don't smile or laugh or live" And that's all she said.)
Enjoy <3

and someone asked for the lyrics:
drag your feet, keep your life strapped to your shoulders.
if you don't carve your age into your belt, you wont get any older
it's a mixed up masquerade, a penniless arcade
every face a frown, oh what a crazy town
hang your head, they'll steal the toes right off of your feet
you're lucky to count all ten, when you're living on the street
its a story thats been told, a body thats been sold
'round and around and around. oh what a crazy town
(see) joy around here comes in a little pink balloon
and if you got out of here yesterday it wouldn't be too soon
it's a cardboard palisade, a pocket change brigade
every way is down. oh what a crazy town
The rhyming creation myth by wirrow and Metaphorest. I tweaked the words just a little, and my draft of the text is resourced below. And here I recorded a reading of it. There's already been lots of great readings of this poem, and I hope there are more to come. I think it might be cool to mix a grand multitude of voices together to tell this story.
The next thing that probably ought to happen is for visual artists to start drawing specific parts. Pick a stanza you like, or even just one line and turn it into any sort of image. Maybe pretty soon we could have a bit of a storybook slideshow going, which is usually an important step in big animation projects.
Metaphorest beautiful poem put to music. The guitar, vocals, cello and shaker were done by myself and the other shaker and the drum was done by my brother Dougie Mackie aka Fameless. Producer: Dougie Mackie Recorded through a radio Mic I couldnt find a shaker around the house so I made one out of a medicine bottle, cocoa pops and sugar. The drum was a big cardboard tub with a plastic lid. haha. Seems really odd. If anyone wants to put a harmony on top you are more than welcome!
Just passed midnight here in New Orleans, so it was 30 years ago today, my mom started cleaning up my doo doos. Tonight we sang about it. Her first time using GarageBand! Can't think of a nicer way to celebrate. <3 And we'd both get a huge kick out of it if anybody remixed this in any way... c'mon you gotta, it's my birthday ^_^
Lava Tornado made music. RayPerez sampled it and rapped over it. I added some drums, sang along to a hook, and yes, dropped a second verse.
Hip hop is so conducive to hitRECord, or perhaps hitRECord is conducive to hip hop. Either way, if we can do something this good without even trying, imagine what we might make when we try again! Whether it's a new song, or another remix of this one.
I also recorded video that'll sync with the drums and the hook vocals. Get that shit up soon, son. And I'll put a zip file up too that should have all the raw audio etc...
Hey HITRECORD! Here is version 1 of the collage song that I made with all of your great audio tracks. It's pretty atmospheric with plenty of room for vocals - so VOCALISTS, RAPPERS, SPOKEN WORD ARTISTS, please add your creative skills!
There are about 30 to 40 pieces of audio in here and I will be resourcing them all shortly.
Thank you so much for having me remix your killer tracks and thanks especially to everyone for such great recommendations on which ones to use!
