I think I found some really interesting and varied ones this time. :)

Text:

1. Consume, by Dusty. This one really got to me. Every time someone opens up about something like this, it gets to me. It so perfectly describes the one mirror I keep in my house (solely for the purpose of making sure there's nothing stuck in my teeth before I go out the door. ;D ) The last point Dusty makes is the truest: It seems unfixable. I'm of two minds about this "disease" though, for myself. Like, I see people who actually have this illness, who are perfectly within the perimeters of "beauty" (in quotes for a reason) and still think there's something wrong with them. Then I think of myself, and it seems less like a pathology and more like the plain ugly truth. It can't be a disease if what you see is real, and acknowledged by others, right? Just so.

Onto stuff that is more fun. :)

2. The Prospect of Lightning by J. Harv - It's probably pretty easy to guess why I love this. "perhaps, that we are at some quantum level connected should suffice?"

This is so often how I relate to people things I want but can't have. ^_^;;

Images:

1. A Message by Danah. It seems I've hearted tons of her stuff lately. ^_^ I love how smooth and delineated the waves look. And the expression is so poignant.

2. Painty Stains by Attilee (and yeah I have to be real careful not to misspell that, haha. ^_^;; ) I thought it looked like the Death Star while they were still building it. :)

3. HitRECord light painting by geeksweetie. I love love love anything that looks bright and glowy. This was pretty.

SOUNDS:

1. L.T. Daly's guitar music to go along with Chig's reading. HOW DID I MISS THIS? This is so awesome.

2. Metaphorest's My Friendly Skeleton. It seems like eveyr week she does some terrific new song that I have to rec. I am particularly partial to all sorts of mergings of cute and dark. I think that cute and dark go well together and Metaphorest always seems to fall right into this sensibility that I love. :)

3. When The Sunshine Comes Around by djnamelis. GORGEOUS. This is the coolest sound ever. It sounds like it's from a different era. I love the melody, I love the rawness, and the strage echo. It's so beautiful! I wish everyone would listen to this. I definitely want to figure out some project for which I could steal this!

Video:

1. Paper Spider animation by LydiaSaskia - I love spiders, I love this sort of animation. Again, it is that meeting of dark and adorable that I love.

And there you have it! My treasures for this week. ❤

So Cchellez challenged me to write a cheery song about a dreary subject - and, well, I cheated a bit and recorded a song that I've had floating about for a long while. Hope this still qualifies as a challenge met! :)

I'd love to hear this remixed so if anybody wants separate tracks lemme know!

Ps. The guitar is tuned to drop d and the chords are umm..D and A and some ones I made up that are like the top three strings on the 5th, 7th and 2nd fret :P

Exhumed a body from my bedroom yesterday
He shook the dust off then here’s what he had to say
Don’t waste a second - live loud everyday

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He's my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

He writes me haikus, telling me to go outside
Let go the recluse, even though I’d rather hide
Step out the front door, life’s on your side

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He’s my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

My friendly skeleton
He shows me how it’s done
I know one day I’ll be one
Til then I’m gonna have some fun

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He’s my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

I pack his bones up neatly in the old suitcase
I’ve gotten sick of his hollow judgmental face
I’m happy fleeting floating in space

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He’s my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

My friendly skeleton
He shows me how it’s done
I know one day I’ll be one
Til then I’m gonna have some fun

This has been an idea tootle-ing around in my head for a while. I wanted to create an alphabet of light painted letters.

Btw. I put this together in humble old Word, (due to lack of photoshop) so forgive any inconsistencies/uglyness pleasies :)

I've put all the photographs/letters/numbers/symbols I took in an album for recorders to remix. You know you want to: http://hitrecord.org/records/379519

When I was recording this soundtrack it was a sunny day. So the song is about the sunshine.
