re-REX for this week!
The Regularity (#39) 05/14/11 by Dr. Gory (with a special appearance by RegularJOE) - I'm so glad to see a Regularity again! I like the mini-vids Joe's been releasing, but it's nice to have Dr. Gory back to take them from raw records to a full-fledged Regularity. Yay!
Le Petit Soldat (Added Vox) by Metaphorest - the combination of Metaphorest's vocals and suzyrene's piano accompaniment really brought this song to the next level. I love it and can't wait to see more videos for it now.
untitled by silentmelody - I love how silent melody remixed several records here (belcath1981, MoiSanom, iseeowls and Jalyse) to make this gorgeous remix. Of all the remixes to use MoiSanom's original work, this is probably my favorite so far.
Living Sound: The Vinyl Ad by pamagotchi - I believe pammy has a 2nd version out already, so this includes both the first and the most recent one. I love the idea presented here, and I think the potential for remixing is fantastic. Pammy's given us a great foundation to buil on here, and I can't wait to see what the community will come up with.
JOES ROCKING by Fernando Cruz - Great image for the Vinyl Art Collab by Marke. I've really enjoyed seeing Joe interpretations from all of the fantastic illustrators on hitRECord.
Everything is On Fire [Robo REmix] by Robo_J - love this remix of a classic hitRECord song by Robo_J. If you haven't checked it out already, you definitely should!
Rubber Stamp by Metaphorest - a great poem by Metaphorest. I'd love to see visuals added to it because her writing is just so full of wonderful images. A voiceover would be cool too.
The Death of a Shadow: Matchstick by Edward Shallow - Dark, yet strangely satisfying, this great animation is a macabre take on the Shadow collab. And I love that Edward encourages us to think of more ways to kill off shadows.
Shadows Children's Storybook by LittleRedRidingHood - another great contribution to the Shadow Collab. I like the idea of a physical book (and I love that the book is cut out in the shape of a noonday - hehe), and I think this has a lot of potential for remixing and refining. It may not even end up as a book, but perhaps as a story board for animators. There's a lot of possibility worth exploring here.
Collab of the Week:
We've had a lot of awesome collabs to work on this week: Hesher, the Vinyl Art Collab, the Spring Collection Ad Collab. But there was one collab created that I thought was really cool and maybe a little overlooked:
Paper Airplanes
Proi did this amazing artwork on paper airplanes and then created a collab for people to make their own paper airplanes. This is fantastic. It isn't just physical, 3D art that you can hold in your hands; it's physical 3D art that you can THROW with your hands! :D Proi even created a record you can print you and create your own paper airplane with. I just think this has so much potential. Everyone can participate and it could be a lot of fun.
The REgularity is back!!!
This is a compliation of RegularJOE's re-recommendations from 5/9/2011, and his two REquests of last week, hitRECord Harmonic Hoards and The Spring Collection Commercial video.
Suzyrene made an amazing piano accompaniment to one of my old songs so I sang along with it! Apologies for the dodgy pronunciation/grammar etc :)
Happy Friday 13th!
So, I was very excited to hear about the up and coming HitRECord vinyl: alas, I am no good at drawing, so I decided to channel my excitement into a visual record: an ad, inspired by the HitRECord merchandise record by Matt Conley.
I got this far with the video..however I have come to a bit of creative crossroads..so I thought I would throw it up here and see if you guys can help me out!
I wanted to combine old PD clips with records of HR musicians doing their thing. Now, I think this clip might be a bit PD heavy [having trouble downloading and using Windows Media files in iMovie..anyone know of a solution/converter?], so I think it definitely use some more musicians strutting their stuff.
I also think it really needs some kind of voice over...I have taken clips from PD videos at the beginning, but think there needs to be more of an "Ad V.O" in a similar style going on throughout the clip...?
Yeah, so basically, I have put it up here for you all to play with. Feel free to chop and change anything you like, I would be really interested to see what people come up with!
Thaaaanks!
