Jared and I were just emailing about how excited we are that Words We're Wailing is coming along so well, and he generously said:
"Yo. What's that other Frenchy pub-song-sing-a-long from like 8 years ago? La La La La La, La-la La La La La... (you know the one) You have it? I want it."
So, yes. I recorded this in 2002 for a French literature class. The lyrics are from a 19th century poem called "Chanson" by Alfred de Musset. It's about a guy having a conversation with his heart, whom he calls feeble, and who tells him to man the fuck up because CHANGE, and its accompanying pain, is what makes life dear.
So no, WWW was not my first attempt at writing a waltzy singalong. And hopefully it won't be my last.
<3
Sung by the wonderful Metaphorest, and beautiful piano playing by Suzyrene. Todd68976 suggested that I add accordion to this lovely song, and so I did with much joy :)
Added some fiddle and mandolin. yep.
everything flows sweetly when you slow down
unwind all your tapes and dance to ghost sounds
i'm in another world, and you're breaking up
but i'll call you soon.. if i make it back
I recorded this awhile back but my friend mixed it and added some new drums to it. It sounds SO much better.
Low-fi, raw recording today.
Everybody talks about the body dying
Everybody knows the soul lives forever
Don't you know the body lives forever too?
Don't you know the body lives forever?
Atoms change, and rearrange, become another
And my body remembers, it remembers
Don't you know the body lives forever too?
Don't you know the body lives forever?
When I see the stars, I remember
When I hold your hand, I remember
Yes I tingle, and I ache, and I sing
And I dance, oh dance, dance, oh dance,
With my body made of stardust and wanderlust
With my body made of stardust and wanderlust
I remember, I am here, now, always
I remember, I am here, now, always
Now, always
Now, always
Now, always
Remember when you were a star?
Basically amferraro did an awesome remix and I wanted to remix the remixed version to focus more on the actual theme. One can't top his version though, so I hope this is not too useless.
amferraro and i found the darkest, sketchiest alley we could and recorded this rendition of foreign sounds. we were only attacked once.
a small peek into anthony's creative process with a remix of PASIV's "On Bridges"
next up, the making of the making of! (just kidding. but i'd love to see this remixed)
This is the instrumental portion I created for a Paul Simon remix contest. I own what I composed. It's composed in 3 movements and the first 2 feel very 70s, so I didn't know if they'd be useful for a Fake Histories video. <3 Incidentally, if anyone cares ('cause I think it's cool): Movement A is 44 bars, B is 20 bars and C is 64 bars (a+b=c). Also I applied the Golden Ratio to Movement C and the climax falls directly onto the Phi Moment, 61.8% of the way through Movement C.
originally meant as the music for "The Disintegrating Memory", it seemed to take a life of its own.
RECord #8: for a little fun
piano piece, written in fl studio
HAHA uh. first song? for AeB. yeah. :D
i cut up bits of megan's beautiful song. i have a complicated relationship with these 4 chords.
its 64bpm [or 128]
I found this appropriate for the Row, Row, Row your boat collab. A remix of sorts using Chase Horsemen's Life is but a dream and a bit of Joe's poem "There is that which, without force isn't" in the mix.
just unwinding from work. read dianasev's piece and it put me in a mood.
just brainstorming possible themes / moods / whatever. this is by no means anything close to finished, i just wanted to throw it out there and get some feedback. i listened to joe's reading a couple times and this recording just sort of happened.
i know it's very early for music -- this isn't intended to go into whatever this production turns out to be. it's just an early concept.
thanks for listening!
My first official Accordion Record! Written 1/11/11
If you like this, please check out version 2 that I recently recorded. http://hitrecord.org/records/629281
now with a lil more bass, and added guitar.
*shrug* it's a living.
i sat down at the piano on a gloomy day and this came out. i'd be honored if you'd listen to it :)
I spent two hours today listening to the beautiful version of Le Petit Soldat featuring Metaphorest, suzyrene and Mandrond101, and starting humming a harmony. I mixed it in this afternoon. It's kind of sloppy, but I just wanted to see what it sounded like all together. I can release just the vocal stems if anyone thinks it's worth mixing properly.
Metaphorest wrote it and sang it; the lass writes in French too? She's a regular Nabokov! Suzyrene played magnificent piano. Today Madrond101 resurrected in true french form with his accordion, which inspired themetafictionist to sing a harmony part, which has inspired me to sing this.
I think it probably sounds a bit too much like ol' Tom. En plus, mon français peux être plus claire. Mais putain, c'est écrit par une irelandaise alors merde.
just one of those days.
If You Called
by Matthew Vitticore
I waited for someone
To tell me the truth
But no one stepped forward
So I asked you
I asked you
I crawled back
Into the belly of the beast
Me the damsel
You the hero
You the hero
And somewhere down the line
I could be the one
For you
I may have to prove
In a battle to the death
For the world’s definition
Of success
And somewhere down the line
I could be the one
(For you)
On the open sea
I saw Edmund
I saw Eugene
I saw Mary
I saw my parents
I saw my brothers
In the same dream
And somewhere down the line
I could be the one
For you
I recorded the piano part over again and got a different vocal sound.. I hope someone can add some other cool instrumentation..
Added some harmonies to Pasiv's remix of Vickie's tiny song.
I know I'm late... but I just like discovered Joe's song "Words We're Wailing", watching the videos from the last shows. Poignant.
Either way, I hadn't originally intended to put vocals at the beginning of this. But after one too many frustrating takes, I just ended singing to calm down. And I decided to keep it with the piano rendition that followed. Enjoy the arrangment.
