Jared and I were just emailing about how excited we are that Words We're Wailing is coming along so well, and he generously said:

"Yo.  What's that other Frenchy pub-song-sing-a-long from like 8 years ago?  La La La La La, La-la La La La La...  (you know the one) You have it?  I want it."

So, yes.  I recorded this in 2002 for a French literature class.  The lyrics are from a 19th century poem called "Chanson" by Alfred de Musset.  It's about a guy having a conversation with his heart, whom he calls feeble, and who tells him to man the fuck up because CHANGE, and its accompanying pain, is what makes life dear.

So no, WWW was not my first attempt at writing a waltzy singalong.  And hopefully it won't be my last.

Metaphorest wrote it and sang it; the lass writes in French too? She's a regular Nabokov!  Suzyrene played magnificent piano.  Today Madrond101 resurrected in true french form with his accordion, which inspired themetafictionist to sing a harmony part, which has inspired me to sing this.

I think it probably sounds a bit too much like ol' Tom.

[Apologies for any erreurs in mon francais]

Something I wrote a couple of days ago and felt like recording. Was encourage by Julia [RedHeadMonster] to put it up on here. So...feel free to play! Music by the lovely tonguecutsparrow.

May add more to this at some point!

“In my dreams, I can think like that. I can imagine that I take your hand, and whilst kissing your fingers we lie down on the earth and under the sky.

And we can feel the world lying down on us, like some big universal sandwich.

That’s it.

That’s what we are.

The filling of this sandwich: made of stardust, wind and tears.

That’s what we are.”

Why I hit RECord.

Mon nom est Johanna (My name is Johanna)
But on hitRECord I'm Gimik Jo
Gimik used to be the name of the magazine I was in charge here in Belgium
I hit RECord - well - since July
Même si j'ai l'impression d'avoir toujours connu cet endroit (even though I feel like I've always known this place)
Why did I get involved in hitRECord?
Because of this guy
(Joe's voice)
(I RECorded my first participation for the Love Collab)
Et je n'ai plus jamais cessé depuis (and I never stopped since)
I'm addicted
I hit RECord on daily basis
Tous les jours (everyday)
Je regarde (I watch)
Je m'émerveille (I marvel at things)
J'actionne mon petit coeur (I hit the heart)
(For me creativity is watching things not for what they are but for what they can be)
Everything is possible
Je vois des choses (I see things)
Elles m'inspirent (They inspire me)
Je les rassemble (I gather them)
Je les transforme (I change them)
(I don't see myself as someone particularly creative)
Je ne crée pas à proprement parlé
(I don't create strictly speaking)
Je ne dessine pas (I don't draw)
Je chante un peu (I sing a little)
J'écris aussi (I also write)
J'enregistre (I RECord)
My editing skills are crap
But I hit RECord
Parce qu'ici je n'ai pas peur (because here I'm not scared)
I feel safe
Peur d'être rejetée, critiquée (scared to be rejected, critized)
Souvent l'art est égoïste (Art can often be selfish)
But not on hitRECord
Ici, l'art est un effort collectif (here art is a collectif effort)
We are a community
On crée (we create)
On partage (we share)
On s'inspire (we inspire each other)
On remix (we remix)
On recrée (we recreate)
Tous ensemble (all together)
Mon apport à hitRECord/Ma contribution ?
(my contribution to hitRECord ?)
Mes yeux (my eyes)
Mon cerveau (my brain)
Mon âme (my soul)
Ma voix (my voice)
Mon coeur (my heart)
Again by heart

I loved Johnathan's (Madrond) "Unsettled", which was used as Salemome's movie's soundtrack (there is an excerpt on her tumblr, and it's really worth seeing).

I wanted however to add some vocals of mine, and had to find lyrics to put on it. I first thought of Goethe's "Erlking", one of the most well-known german poems which tells the story of a man bringing home his sick child as fast as his horse can go, but the child, overwhelmed by hallucinations, dies before they reach their home. It turned out that the poem was far too long for it, so I chose to write lyrics in French, with more or less the same story.

And listening to this again, I think it kinda sounds like Le Petit Soldat. So, it is only a sad french song in the same vein.

Here are the lyrics :

Le cavalier sans selle

Galope dans la nuit muette

Celle qui se meurt est sa belle

Alors plus fort son cheval il fouette

Parti si vite qu'il est sans selle

Venu trop tard, il est sans elle.

Sorry I didn't work on a logo... I tried! But I think I need some guidelines because there are too many possibilities...

After a sneak peak posted on Tumblr yesterday, here's a 'final' (I don't like this word) version of the poster for the hART House to put hypothetically or theoretically on the hall-door (that's just a theorical idea, I didn't think about a possible use when I worked on it).

Sorry (again), the text is still in French, I prefer to let an English native speaker to find the perfect text...Here's a (bad) English translation to give an idea of what I had in mind (I know it's ridiculous...):

Chevaliers de l’Imagination/ Knights of the Imagination,

Fiers héritiers de Don Quichotte/ Proud Heirs of Don Quixote,

Défenseurs de la Répétition/ Defenders of Repetition,

Pourvoyeurs de la Flamme inspiratrice/ Purveyors of the Inspirational Fire/Flame,

Voyageurs, visiteurs, invités/ Travellers/Adventurers, visitors*, guests*,

Amis de la créativité/ Friends of Creativity

Soyez les Bienvenus./ Welcome.

Et dans cette humble demeure/ And, in this modest home/residence,

N’oubliez pas votre enregistreur/ Don’t forget your HitRECorder.

Welcome.

*in French visiteur and invité don’t have the same meaning: the first one is not necessarily invited, the second one comes because he/she was invited…

I wanted to make something for the hART House, even if I'm not going to live there. I love this project.

I'd like to thank everyone for their records. Many records I selected weren't used but it's always a 'luxurious pleasure' to have so many choices.

If you don't see/find your resourced record in the picture, trust me, I really used it, but I also used a 'Photoshopping grinder' so your record may not be recognizable anymore :)

There are 2 Cupids, and 2 cherubs: it's not a religious reference, but a reference to Art History (painting).

I may upload a zip file of the PSD file and/or a zip file of a bigger image if anyone is interested.

This is my contribution to Pamagotchi's request. It took a while before I finally did it, but I had a lot of fun doing this :)

Oh, yes, and it is in basic French. Not Rimbaud nor Lamartine, the third one is actually a little regional treat with the well-known (or not) South of France accent.

Like I said in the last one, arrhe ouïe ricquordingue ? euguaine baïe artte !

The sound went a bit fuzzy during the upload...apologies :-(

It's my 6 month anniversary on HitRECord. YAY! I haven't released something for what feels like forever...I have been in a bit of a creative rut! But on this very happy occasion, I felt inspired to work on a video that I absolutely love: Nouveau Départ by fraeulein. Sarah created a beautiful story with Madrond101's amazing music. I loved Noémie B's beautiful sad story, so I did another voice over of both the English and the French and set it to the visual.

I just want to say that I cannot believe it has been 6 months. It has been one of the most fruitful periods of my life: I have met a wonderful group of like minded people with so much love to give, on both artistic and human levels. I have seen things have expanded my horizons and see the beauty in hidden corners. I cannot thank you all enough for this wonderful adventure, this trip of a lifetime, that I hope might never end.

You all rock my world.

So, so, so, so, so much love to all of you.

An extract from Alfred de Musset's poem set to Ozie's "Verite"

Oh, late night RECord button.

"Rappelle-toi, quand sous la froide terre

Mon coeur brisé pour toujours dormira ;

Rappelle-toi."

Les flaques font des arcs en ciel

Qui dansent autour de nos pieds

La peau de la terre et bleue

Elle scinitlle comme les etoiles

De la pluie

Ohhh ce soir mon amour

Ils nous restent que rêver

Les tetes dans les nuages

Je me sens si proche de toi

Un bateau qui embrasse les vagues

Et  ce soir mon amour

Je scintille comme les etoiles

De la pluie

The puddles make rainbows

That dance around our feet.

The skin of the earth is blue

And it sparkles like the stars

In the rain.

Oh, tonight, my darling,

We only have to dream

With our heads in the clouds.

I feel so close to you

Like a boat kissing the waves

And tonight, my darling,

I will sparkle like the stars

In the rain.

Et voilà, mes chéris....So this is my second original song but this one is in french ^_^I think this needs some beat, maybe more instrument or vocals so voilà les lyrics:

Vilain mensonge

Ou fond de vérité

Venant de passants

A moitié effaçés

Grande naïveté

Ou erreur de jeunesse

Quand le vin m'aide

A noyer ma tristesse

Est-ce donc un mauvais sort

Que l'on m'a jeté

Pour être une âme

Bien loin d'être désirée

Peur insensée

 Ou justifiée

C'est donc pour ça

Qu'il m'a abandonné

Sourire honnete

Ou simulé

Pauvres fous, mais dans quel piège

Vous êtes tombés

Mais suis-je la seule

A m'interroger

This is more of an idea rather than a finished record..I know I've made a load of errors: i was wondering if any FrenchRECorders would care to develop this?!

Also, I thought this could take a totally bluesy/jazz spin...I can upload the stems if anyone thinks it something worth working on? ^__^

Once upon a time I had someone

Now I only have a telephone

I am on hold.

Everytime it falls silent

It tells me I am alone

And my heart stops.

Yesterday I was in your arms

I kissed you.

But now all that I have left

Are closed doors.

I'm alone with my telephone

You know I'm there.

But if you call

I won't answer you.
