Last week, I was too busy to do a re-REC album, because my brother had the gall to graduate on a Sunday. Doesn't he know Sunday is re-REC day? I think that's just selfish of him.
Audio
Rubber Stamp [Doo-Wop] by pamagotchi - I love love love the doo-wop songs Pam's been uploading lately (see also her Make Space for Me cover). Pam's got a great voice, I love genre-bending in music, and doo-wop is inherently just fun. I think these are great songs as is with a capella, but some fun instrumentation in the background could really kick it up a notch.
If You Called by Matthew Vitticore - Does anyone not love a sweeping piano ballad? I mean, really, if you answered "no" to that, I'm just going to assume you're lying and should listen to this song anyway. Also, lady remixers with good voices - this could totally use some soprano harmonizing. If I had higher voice, non-crappy recording equipment, and the ability to harmonize, I'd do it myself. Unfortunately, none of those three things apply to me.
Images
Not Meant to Be by Proi - Grammar nerd humor! Never not hilarious.
Cherubim by With Pencil in Hand - With Pencil in Hand did a whole series of wonderful concept art pieces for this text RECord here, and they're all fabulous and deserve to be checked out, but these little guys are my special favorites. Look how cute and roly-poly they are! I would love to see these little guys animated or making buddies with the shadows. I mean, ideally I'd like to own one as a pet, but my other requests seem more realistic.
Alpha by Jiradevan - Please do not ask me to explain what it is about this picture that I am so hopelessly in love with. I don't know. It's like, the opposite of my usual aesthetic style, and yet I cannot stop staring at it and wanting to use it for an image remix and having absolutely zero idea where to start. I still have no idea where to start. But it's gorgeous and I know I want someone to start somewhere with it. Honestly, at this point I don't even care who.
the breakup (Q.E.D.) by fractaldust - Behold! Probably the most ambitious image remix I have ever seen. I continue to be in awe of Dusty's photomanipulation skills, and this has done nothing but increase that. The level of intricacy and storytelling she was able to make out of what essentially amounts to a collage is stunning, and I feel like I notice new, fun little details every time I look at it. And I've looked at it, like, a lot.

1,2,3,4, someone's lying on the floor by L.A - This poem/ballad/story-thin is gritty, painful, powerful. It would make a great eventual video, but on its own it's still the kind of thing you read and it punches you in the gut.
My Funny Frankenstein by Proi - I don't know if any of you watch 30 Rock, but in their live episode this year they had this little fake-commercial sketch where Jon Hamm's character is talking about hand transplants from death row inmates, and it's pretty damn hilarious. This story is based sort of on the same idea (transplants retaining the characteristics of their previous owner) but takes it to a whole new, farcically ridiculous (and awesome) level.

How to be Happy by dingoman9126 - On its own, this is a very cute, well thought-out little film that needs some minor tweaks, but works really well. The reason I'm re-rec'ing it, though, is that the footage in it was the kind of thing I watched and went "remix!!" immediately. A lot of the shots are well-composed, evocative, and could easily be cut, used, and re-used a million times in a million different ways.
my most ambitious REmix to date, to illustrate the breakup scene from A Mathematician's Approach to Love (http://hitrecord.org/records/185877 if the link doesn't work)... my goal was to make a realistic 3D composite image using 30+ image REsources. did i succeed?
for background info, please check out the story! (link above and in resources)
some of the stock photos i used were self-taken; if you can't find them in the REsources and would like me to upload them for further REmixes (i.e. the desk, the light, the math books), please let me know.
many thanks to all of the incredible artists/photographers whose work i used!
& if you are curious about the process, or where certain REsources appear in the image (it's hard to find some of them), feel free to ask away! : D
Oh man, I might have got this completely wrong. But it's all a big learning curve, right?!
I have loved the LizzieMackie/Sarah Daly "Coffin Combo" for a long time, and over the past couple of nights I have also had Alpal's Wah Wah Wanderer on repeat. So I thought, aww hey, why don't I try and do something in a simialr vein?
I added some clicks and some ums and ahhs to flesh it out a bit. I am not really very musical and just tried to copy Sarah's bare hamornies from the original MSFMIYC. So, apologies if I am off! This was all a bit of a gamble! ^__^

If You Called
by Matthew Vitticore
I waited for someone
To tell me the truth
But no one stepped forward
So I asked you
I asked you
I crawled back
Into the belly of the beast
Me the damsel
You the hero
You the hero
And somewhere down the line
I could be the one
For you
I may have to prove
In a battle to the death
For the world’s definition
Of success
And somewhere down the line
I could be the one
(For you)
On the open sea
I saw Edmund
I saw Eugene
I saw Mary
I saw my parents
I saw my brothers
In the same dream
And somewhere down the line
I could be the one
For you
I loooved this piece by Metaphorest, and I was thinking about it at work and this tune came into my head.
And then this happened.
I made up the harmonies so I hope they are alright. I know the timing and things goes off a little, but I hope it gets the idea across! I imagined lots of brass/trombone blaring at the pauses ^__^

Oh I'm not one for extremes
Oh I don't have big dreams
Or grand schemes
I'm a rubber stamp.
[A Rubber stamp]
Oh I drink out from the trough
And not from dainty cups
Yeah that's enough
I'm a rubber stamp
[A rubber stamp]
I'm a stage-left observer
An certainty swerver
A slow stepper
A limelight leper
I'm a rubber stamp
[A rubber stamp]
Oh though I'm trying to improve
I'm just too slow to move
Part moth at the lamp
I'm a rubber stamp.
A short film I made based off an article I found in Readers Digest. Shot on a Canon HV30 and cut together in Final Cut, music recorded in Logic.
