Baby Squink for the hitRECord baby and Crocheted Shadows in Love by Cam_4: Just a sampling of the hitRECord crocheting projects Cam_4 has done. I love the idea that there are tangible (squishy!) incarnations of our beloved characters out there. I also get really excited when I see projects that use out-of-the-ordinary media. See knitRECord for more.
Stand alone in the Rapture, by Jnyfer: I see paintings around here less often than other kinds of images, so this stood out for that, but more importantly, it's stunning. The fog and the light and the silhouettes... just beautiful.
the old gods have flown, by via: Another example of (very) out-of-the-ordinary media. It's both mythic and macabre (those are real wings), and I can't stop looking at it. Really well done.

When the people you love stayed... by librarygirl6 and hindsight in space, by amferraro and Metaphorest: Perfect music for this project. I was so moved by the footage of librarygirl6's family-- it was both personal and universal. The song is haunting and bittersweet.
Joe's Glitch "Live Acts" 1.0, by RegularJOE and many others, and LiveActs Upbeat Version 2.0, by Haus_of_Glitch: It's from a while ago, but it's new to me. Very catchy, and the video is a great example of what collaborations can accomplish.

RECordar, by Gimik Jo: I love the combination of live-action footage and cacheth's drawings. It almost makes me feel like I was there, which is quite an accomplishment, as I'm on the other side of the country. Also, nice word play in the title.

Words We're Wailing Full Mix, by Krrr: It's so exciting to see (that is, hear) all of this come together! A great mix, although I do miss chigwinkle's comment at the end. :-)
Make Space for Harmonies! (aka Make Space for Me in Your Coffin), by Metaphorest and Lizziemackie: I don't know why I didn't listen to this until a week or two ago, but I'm so glad I did. I heard Lizzie's solo version first, which was gorgeous, but when I heard it with Metaphorest's harmony, I dropped what I was doing and turned to stare at the stereo. It completely blew me away, and continues to do so. There's also an extended version, which is the one I have saved.

Post Script

I'm not sure whether the proper course of action is to list all of the records as Resources in addition to including them in the album. On the one hand, if you do both, the re-rec album shows up twice in the Results section, which can get a little unwieldly. On the other hand, if the record is Resourced, the artist gets notified via their activity feed, so I'll do both for now. Thoughts?
'Til next week!

Once I heard this song, I knew I wanted to do something with it.
The video is clips from my family's 8mm films that I had digitized. I have a lot more footage I'm hoping to use soon. :)
metaphorest uploaded stems from hindsight, so i couldn't help but re-record my parts and give it a more spacey / shoegazey feel. i hope it sounds a bit cleaner than the original remix i did. anyway, sorry if this all feels a bit redundant...
lyrics (from metaphorest's record, in resources)
Up in the attic is a faded photograph
of your wedding day
that's the way time goes these days
Out of your window is an unfamiliar scene
You remember when it was all empty and green
You remember when people said
exactly what they meant
You remember when a spade was called a spade
You remember when the universe felt young
and so did you
You remember when your love was fresh and new
Down in the basement is a box of broken dreams
Promises pulled apart, torn at the seams
Phantoms and ransoms you picked up along the way
In a life lived right, that's the price you've got to pay
You remember when people said exactly what they meant
You remember when a spade was called a spade
You remember when the universe felt young and so did you
You remember when your love was fresh and new
You remember when people said exactly what they meant
You remember when a spade was called a spade
You remember when the things you held onto were owned, not lent
You remember when the people you loved stayed
RECords are a way to remember. hitRECord At The Movies - Vista Theater 4.23.11
My first stab at putting the whole thing together. 35 tracks of blissful, drunken wailing. Y'know, he would have faded out......
So I fiiiiinally got a chance to add some harmonies to Lizzie's awesome song - my recording set up isnt ideal and I didnt have much time and excuses excuses :) Hope you don't hate it Lizzie :)
