I think we should have a hitRECord coloring book, consisting mostly of line drawings that would be fun to color (with crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.), but also some black & white photography and maybe a few pages with tiny stories the kid or adult could draw (i.e., most of the page is blank). Maybe even some extra blank pages for hr-inspired drawing!
There is a Coloring Book collab (see Resources), but I think we should make it happen (it'd be so easy!) and should expand it with some pages for drawing & illustrating.
At any rate, these are images & stories I would put in such a book. They're the images I'd enjoy coloring in (and maybe will) and the stories I think could be fun to illustrate (in particular, they suggest very strongly a visual image and/or could be illustrated different ways).
but stories are not set in stone
their shapes are always shifting.
suns lit up like fireworks
and mountain tops were lifting.
meadows stretched and liquefied
and poured into the ocean,
whose waves formed winged beasts that leapt
and fluttered into motion.
great rocks rose to meet the stars
wishing a better view
the highest peaks were dusted white
each day, pristine and new

A doodle I do sometimes when I'm bored and out of creative ideas - figured it could be used for a texture or background by someone, somehow. It's not exactly perfect, but I kind of like the little inconsistancies. Gives it character, I think.
This is a super-duper high resolution file, so download if you want it ginormous.

I haven't released a RECord in a long time so I might be a little rusty. Let me know what you think! Feel free to edit this as much as you want. It's an honor to be REmixed. I think this one could be really cool if you crop it off along one of the waves and make it a cool pattern of ground for some new world. Just an idea.

Just a goofy, quick, fun doodle! My history with different recording devices through the decades. I've always played around with recording devices, from a toy recorder up to whatever we had to shoot home movies on. The VHS camera was heavy as hell, but I was always playing with it. I still remember exactly what sounds it made and how it felt to have it up on my shoulder.
I loved recording so much that I took a broadcast program in 2000. Not pictured here: betacams handed down from local TV stations, miniDV cams, MiniDisc, 8-track, cart decks, Hi-8, reel to reel (yes! I cut and pasted actual tape) hard-wired studio cameras and a Marantz deck.
I think some of the charm has gone out of recording without physical media. Or at least, physical media that I can understand,
MAGIC!
