Re/Rec Some of my favorite Hitrecord Songs.

While doing some of the call in requests for Joe's latest collaboration I went through a bunch of my favorite songs on Hitrecord and thought I would share what some of those were. Some old, some new and in no particular order. Hope you enjoy and discover some gems that you didn't know about before. :)

I love pixel pilgrim's song. I added some drums. There's a lot of excellent sing-along moments. Anybody frisky enough to give it a go? Also, I find the whole thing très cinématique, so who's got some visuals for us?

Overnight tonight, I'll upload a zip of all the stems/resources/ProTools files, etc. (YIKES! the tech problems grow and my shit's erased! unless some miraculous recovery happens, the files no longer exist! Well, I guess I'll just have to play these drums again. It'll be better the second go-around) This could definitely use a better mix, ahem...

I wanted to add more stuff (bass especially) but, surprise surprise, i'm having troubles with the ol' REC Room rig, and at this point it crashes when I add anything new to the project? :o/

Also worth noting that I generally like to encourage everyone to record themselves on video when playing music. You just never know when that visual element might come in handy. I did not do that here, partially out of tech frustration, and mostly because my soul really just couldn't wait to play the drums already :o)

song i RECorded, hmm, october 2006. Don't know why I've never put it up here before. there's tons of shit (songs especially) i should probably just start letting go of, releasing, that is, the RECords.

tonight I put it up because i read a poem phonontek wrote on tumblr. i don't think he's released that on hitRECord yet. well maybe perhaps he might. His poem is called "Here Again."

Nels Cline -- I mostly know him as Wilco's guitarist, although he's made all kinds of music in all kinds of contexts. The other night he came by the REC Room to lend his inimitable playing to a song we've been brewing up around here -- Everything Is On Fire by wirrow. I think it's the perfect addition. Really looking forward to see where these RECords on fire go next...

I have some (lo-fi) video of him playing this, it's just gonna take some compression etc to get it up here.

this is the opening instrumental track of my upcoming 2010 EP

i am a singer/songwriter from philadelphia, pennsylvania. i try to write songs that feel like those few seconds of happiness that rush into your heart and disappear just as fast - but you're thankful just the same for having felt invincible, if only for a moment. when i am not writing music i am in a med program, and i live with my pet parrot fish sam. i'm releasing my second EP in 2010, i hope to share my music with you and hopefully it makes you happy.

I'm pretty happy with the way that this turned out. I added some guitar and and drums and edited the crap out of the song.


It still has some room for more cool stuff though. Like some damn ELECTRIC UKELELE!!! Let me know if anyone wants the Garageband session file. Also this track desperately needs to be mixed. If anyone has sweet mixing skills. I'm horrible at it.
