Oh, you mean that Independence Day! Sorry lovely American people. I thought someone was getting excited about a film showing on tv. Or the traditional view as one of my housemates put it - it's where we celebrate not being you.

Anyway, happy Independance Day, happy watching an action movie ironically day and happy - I'm just happy that I went to hitRECord at the Movies. It rocked. Now down to business...

1. 'RE: Cinema - a working perspective' by greytime

This is actually new on the site today and already I love it so much. I want to go to that cinema! I especially love the little signage alterations at the end.

2. 'My Movie Story' by Pigsy

I met Pigsy at the BFI hitRECord event at the weekend – he’s a really nice guy. But I only watched this video today and it is now one of my favourite testimonials on cinema. It is so sweet. I don’t want to say what he talks about as it’s a great surprise. You should watch it.

3. 'Farm' by amymac

Also another hitRECorder from the weekend which I had lots of fun photographing shadows with. I went to her profile page out of curiousity and this image hit me. It is so gorgeous and clever and it made me not just smile but beam.

4. 'REC!' by fraulein

So very, very pretty! This is a picture of MoiSanom’s made ring which I also clocked on the weekend. I see a theme running here.

5. ‘Diver. Starfish. Tiny story’ by Marielv

There was a challenge issued last Friday to create a video for Saturday’s event using the astro diver image and it was executed beautifully by the amazing Marielv.

6. ‘Question HITRECORDERS’ by MadisenMusic

Just a simple but interesting question put to hitRECorders and the answers from the conversation section put into the original text RECord. A surprisingly zen response to it in most cases. Go and add your opinion!

7. ‘Pouring’ by featherpetal

I’ve always loved the tiny story that this is illustrating – originally called A Leak and is by AeB and this is a beautiful vision for it that remixes some other image RECords too. They go so well together that I was blown away when I looked at the resources section.

8. ‘She’s like a room (remix)’ by Ackley

This is a remix of a small section of ‘She’s like a room,’ by joshersaurusREX and evolved to the next stage. I love this. It has so much feeling in it I believe it. It can also be taken multiple ways which I guess is the point. I know, I am Captain Obvious but wanted to just say I dug it.

9. ‘Miss Pearl’s Mugshot’ by jay-9

This made me burst out laughing. Superbly acted, great set-up, costume, everything! Shows a lot of potential for where the collab it’s for could go next. Personally, I’ve been arrested for filming with intent to commit edit.

10. ‘Crocheted Gloam 2’ by Cam4 and ‘Gloamy Joe’ by fraeulin

I love the gloam by Cam4 and it was great to see in this portrait with Joe too. Don’t be sad little gloam, don’t be sad little Joe.

There are so many things that I wanted to add this week but then I think you'd just be looking at a list of the entire contents of the hitRECord London collab so I restrained myself. A little. Ish. Kinda.
