This is the intro to the vinyl video I'm working on.
Check out the full version here http://hitrecord.org/records/479559
I actually have a request though. I want a bunch more videos of hitrecorders playing their records. You gotta show off your machine a little bit. Also I need a bunch more close up shots of records spinning on turntables. I wanna tighten up that intro a lot more with more videos. Also I think someone should take a crack at making a really cool title card that says "The Vinyl Initiative."
Watch this video for some requests and recommendations regarding the vinyl collab. http://hitrecord.org/records/472789
Anything helps. Just make sure you turn some lights on so your videos aren't so dark. :) Oh and export them into MP4's. Please. Please. Please.
Thank you.

Calling all Vocal Artists, all Audio Mixers, all Video Editors!
You might know our record "and a new earth", it is definitely one of the most impactful short films to have come out of HITRECORD and we play it at all of our shows. And I was thinking that Sundance 2012 is a great reason for us to make another version of it!
I absolutely love the original, it's a beautiful piece both in style and in substance. wirrow wrote the text and set it to a timelapse from the site while adding an instrumental track that he had made. The simplicity of it is what makes it so impactful. (here is the link to the original or you can check the resources below. http://hitrecord.org/records/141257)
But I've always wondered what it would be like if we took it to the next step because I feel this piece is really conducive to our mass collaborative creative process.
So here's what to do:
Once again, the original is so beautiful in it's simplicity that I believe this can be equally as strong in it's multiplicity. And I wanna screen it at Sundance... so let's get to work.
Thanks again,
<3

Calling all Graphic Designers! All Typographers!
As you may or may not know, we are making a REPRISE of wirrow's 'and a new earth' for our show at Sundance this month.
The original video has text recited by a computer and wirrow astutely added subtitles so viewers can read along with the computer's voice.
My idea is, instead of giving our REPRISE a plain subtitle at the bottom, what if each line of the text has it's own typographical treatment that can pop on and off all over the screen!
Here's what to do:
give me all the flickering lights!
tiny specs of fluttering rays
and city glitters shimmering
but only from far away.
i want them all it's an addiction
i want the christmas lights buried in snow
and the blips in science fiction
films from years ago.
give me all the night sky's twinkling sprinkles
and the red pulsing eyes
on tvs that standby
fading, flirting in and out
like a game of cat and mouse.
bits of foil in the distance
blowing kisses from the sun to me and
showing no resistance to the photons
that consistently pass notes on
from one lover to the other
like cupids tiny brothers.
give me all the flickering lights.
light every candle and wave every phone
glinting and bleeping and
imprintining glowing circuses
that linger while I'm sleeping.
an orchestra of weeping light
swan singing like star crossed choirs
who play themselves to me
all night.
