this started out as an excercize of quickly put together a beat - initially as a remix of P.Flow Matics' "Mathematics" but i stumbled on this "pad/bell" song which is on file as vis - falling asleep - but neither has via this song in her records nor could i find it under this title. if anyone can help reference this - please do.
the song instantly went from hard hiphop to something fat jon the ample sound physician would cook up. i have been hungry for this kind of track for a long while now so i set myself a new task: create a space-hop track in less than 3 hours. the main structure was done after 20 minutes and i was missing something. first thought: vocals. second thought: speech. third thought: i love words. done and done.
took pam's track and put it against flockofwords' - i love how those two renditions of the same text are so extremely different. they also fit perfectly into the beat i created. played a bit with positioning, breaks and cuts and let the ladies do their magnificent work.
ps: my own response to the poem is here: http://hitrecord.org/records/388040
Ok this has taken me the last few days and I'm finally happy with it.
This version has a slight alternate ending to Glitch's original because I tried and tried to recreate his ending but its just too crazy xD Kudos to Haus_of_glitch!
Hope you enjoy.
Glitch has been workin' on this mix all week (and for some reason the file wouldn't upload in his browser - so he sent it to me.) "It starts with a Glitch" is awesome! Let's get to work on creating a video to accompany it! Remember - cut to the beat! :D <3
I love Chigwinkle's acapella take on "It Starts With A Glitch." And I really like that he covered the song in its entirety. But in the context of a whole album, I thought a shorter version would best serve our pace. This version's abridged, but Mr. Chig's ebullent spirit comes across in no time flat.
First one is a bit heliumafied. Couldn't resist.

A song I wrote that's meant for headphones
The rhyming creation myth by wirrow and Metaphorest. I tweaked the words just a little, and my draft of the text is resourced below. And here I recorded a reading of it. There's already been lots of great readings of this poem, and I hope there are more to come. I think it might be cool to mix a grand multitude of voices together to tell this story.
The next thing that probably ought to happen is for visual artists to start drawing specific parts. Pick a stanza you like, or even just one line and turn it into any sort of image. Maybe pretty soon we could have a bit of a storybook slideshow going, which is usually an important step in big animation projects.
Metaphorest beautiful poem put to music. The guitar, vocals, cello and shaker were done by myself and the other shaker and the drum was done by my brother Dougie Mackie aka Fameless. Producer: Dougie Mackie Recorded through a radio Mic I couldnt find a shaker around the house so I made one out of a medicine bottle, cocoa pops and sugar. The drum was a big cardboard tub with a plastic lid. haha. Seems really odd. If anyone wants to put a harmony on top you are more than welcome!
I thought this could continue the group singing trend of HitREcord...we could get a whole crew of people singing this...maybe some instruments..this is just an idea for a simple melody!
So, yeah, take this, record harmonies, instruments, more clapping, more singing!
This is my new mantra ^__^

Amazing how Robo's and my contributions fit together. We had similar ideas, really. Piano and bass. I added string sounds and played along added to Robo J's coda.
So this is something Pasiv and I have been working on - I sent him a vocal track that needed some magic, he provided said magic times a million and here is the result!
(Will upload separate vocals too)
I've got a letter in my head for you I'm sick and tired of playing dead for you I've gotta come back, I've gotta come back to life Turn the clocks back, turn the clocks back, I'm alright My lips are frozen and my hands are numb The cracks are showing but I'm playing dumb I've got jump off, I've gotta let go this lie Let the truth out, let the truth out or let it die
Last song today ha! Bit of a change of tone for this one - I'm jumping on the hitRECord blues train with thanks to smweed's awesome lyrics. Additions/suggestions welcome!
I don't know if the intention of Joe's voice over recording was just to give us variations to choose & edit but I loved the repetition of it and it sounded to me like some sort of song...so I've made it into one using theboxsets drum beat!
I now imagine this story of Wirrow's to be about some HAL like computer stuck in a perpetual loop until it malfunctions. <3
A reading of Fractaldust's wonderful Cosmic Significance set to Johnny Clyde's Snow Song - which fit like a cosmic glove! Please someone make a video for this - Dusty has a great script and everything! (See resources)
A while back I was working on some tracks with my friend, Ralph, for my side project "Lydia Rollins".
He made the track and mixed in my vocals. We are working on some new stuff. :)
A hip-hop beat constructed out of samples from ruary's "Black Sponge." This is a base layer that can be extended with new sounds or arrangements or it can be added to as is.
