I have been overwhelmed since joining this place by the feeling you get when someone takes a record you made somewhere cool and unexpected. So I guess this is my "thank you, hitrecord" album that I hope to add many more records to in the future...so thanks, again (by heart). :)
Last song today ha! Bit of a change of tone for this one - I'm jumping on the hitRECord blues train with thanks to smweed's awesome lyrics. Additions/suggestions welcome!
smweed very kindly thought of me when it came to her wonderful written piece "Summertime", and I was very keen to give it a remix! Turned out to be one of the most difficult remixes of my life! I tried so many different styles, so many different takes, songs, melodies...nothing I felt did justice to the feel of the piece. So in the end, I tried to leave it as raw as possible. One last take, added some Garageband loops of a bass to keep it real simple...and then added some effects of a smoky bar/jazz lounge. This is how I imagined this song being sung...
I just really hope I haven't over done it.
Woo, lengthy explanation.
smweed, thank you for such a wonderful piece of writing, I hope that this has done it some measure of justice..hopefully someone can remix it to make it sound a little less amateur?!

words by smweed guitar by Marke fake drums by me :)
These lyrics were cool. I made a song.
It's far from finished, add more claps, keys, guitars, perhaps a trumpet solo.
This is also my first ever song with a fade out :)
Recorded this happy little tune in the midst of tornado sirens.
for smweed. what a wonderful poem.
Couldn't resist playing around with smweed's gorgeous text and moneychow's awesome mix
Think my mixing skills need improving ^_^

Another melody for smweed's beautiful lyrics. I realised after I recorded this that there was already a great tune by smweed, gwen and monkeychow. This is a very different take so hopefully it's ok!
This is my first collaboration attempt but I just loved these lyrics by smweed and played around with this tune. It's kind of rough.
I like Merle.
When the reel of the real has decayed,
Don't be afraid.

I had meant to do a few different drawings today, and then... this happened. sorry, smweed, I have no idea if you're gonna like this at all (:'D) but this is what I get from not planning my drawings.
the characters ended up being strange representations of me and my sister, who -- even though it's been years since I was shorter than her -- I wouldn't want to face the world with anyone else at my side...
I've always felt kind of gipped at growing up when drive-in movies are already things of the past...
and I should really learn not to attempt night scenes with pens.
first time using After Effects sooooo, be kind? :'D
this is the low-quality version, still seeing if the higher resolution will upload...
ahem. every time i watch this it gets more terrible. I spent a week working on it, went a long way to making myself blind before thirty, and have been rendering it for the past three days.
plus my stupid crosshatching style is awful for animating, I've recently found out.
it's time to step back and get some input. :'D any tips to get the projection on the screen? way beyond me...
bleeeeerrraaggghhhh
(anyone want to do a voice over? C:)
The last time we made love, I thought of birch trees.
Still and white, the children of catastrophe.

didn't finish my rerec video, made this instead. I'll post it tomorrow, because Mondays need to be more exciting anyway. :D
bit odd, but I really like it. :) I sincerely hope this is legible to other people.
ETA: damn! the scan accidentally cut off the ends of the fingertips! >_< derp
TotallyJamie's cut outs are amazing. I animated this in after effects, it's very short, but i can't help it, tiny stories call for tiny time durations.
had a rough afternoon. somewhere out of it, came this.

Into Midnight beautiful song by Sarah with lirics by smweed. The only thing I could think about when heard it first time is train obviously and traveller (starring The Man in the Herringbone Hat by JacksonBlack) heading somewhere. Thanks to everyone - we have such HUGE library of footages here on HitRecord.
Wanted to do something with Malicore's awesome Funky Swager...thought I would do an upbeat remix of smweed's gorgeous Song for Leonard Cohen.
Don't know whether the harmonies are quite right, but oh well!
