Everything I've hearted from 7-23 to 7-29
I feel your stare but I will not look back, I'll hide within my hair, afraid to make eye contact. Why do I feel like you are feeling my soul with eyes gazing cool and your mouth slightly drawn. This moment of connection will soon be gone. I get up from my seat in the little cafe', I push in my chair as I soon walk away. When I hear your voice softly say "hey." I turn to meet your eyes finally, and watched you walk away with another girl from the table next to me.
In response to The Viddler's sudden appearance in our lovely community.
Extra special thanks to Robo_J for recording such an amazing voice over! Truly awesome!

It started with a cloud. I wanted to draw clouds like Dientes Feos, and then I drew raindrops and then a brolly. And when I decided that someone should really be holding that umbrella, I decided said person should wear a hat (coz I wanted to try drawing a hat like that). Eventually I ended up with a marionette inspired figure and this doodle took a life of its own.
It could be a tiny story. It could be anything. I drew this on a 3 hour train ride home. I didn't know what to do with it, so I decided to share it as a record. :)
My band has written an entirely new set and abandoned some old songs, so they said I could put them up on HR. may be of use to somebody. I play bass in the band.
Metaphorest also added lyrics and singing to my song Rêve Lucide! I decided to sing with her :)
So Metaphorest decided to sing to one of my songs, and I honestly think she's improved it with her vocals and lyrics. I really love Metaphorest's additions. She told me to upload the version with both of our vocals.

This stemmed from a doodle I made a while ago. Maybe someone can think of a tiny story for them?
[I figure I should tack this onto this record since it's my first record of my new year]
It's kind of surreal to think about, that I've been on this site for a year now. All things considered, this has been a pretty good year for me. I was thinking about this earlier after reading Sparra's anniversary text record. I barely remember what it was like before I joined HR. It sounds kind of cliche but it's so true. I've met so many great people because of this site. People that I'd probably would have never met otherwise.
All the kind comments really gave me a new found confidence in my work. Lemme tell you, I was not in the mood to draw for a long time before I joined. This has become one of those sites that's just like "Oh hey.. c: I think I belong here." The whole situation leaves me feeling really content with everything.
So, I just wanted to thank everyone here on HR for giving me such a great place to come to every day. You are all an amazing bunch of people.

This was an absolute joy to create and I'm super happy with how it turned out...even if this is version 2 because I typoed version 1 like a dummy, lol. ANYWAY! I loved how MelonBerri utilized the oversized knife...just thought it was a unique idea sooo I sort of ran with that, lol. This was a very different style, colorization, and texture to what I've usually done with my artwork though so feedback on how this is viewed would be wonderful :]

Yet another illustration for this fantastic tiny story! I was rereading this tiny story the other night while listening to the soundtrack of the Japanese anime "The Garden of Sinners (part 1)" and that's when the idea for this piece came to me (those who have seen the film would probably understand the reason behind this). Oh and I FAIL at perspectives, which I blame entirely on my lack of practice in observational drawings.
Song I wrote about a friend a while back.
Song I wrote about my friends cute relationship!
I like to think this song is my first real CHEESY love song! :)
Hope you like it!
This video REmix started with... well, with Robo_J's Sonnet and his remarkable reading of it, of course ;) - but at the visual level it started with Joy and Sadness - the videos that Edward Shallow made for the Emotions Collab. His face in those two RECords was the first image that came to my mind while listening to RJ's reading. So I thought, why not make him the main character of my video (again:)). I browsed through his other RECords and found this amazing Phone Call video. That was it, that was the one I needed to visualize this sonnet.
I think this is more of a draft than a finished product (mostly because I'm not sure about the audio levels), but that's gonna depend on your opinions. Please, feel free to tell me what you don't like about this video and I'll try to fix it.
Thank you for reading and for watching :) And special thanks to Robo_J for the brilliant voice over, to Edward Shallow and TaraMarie for their inspiring videos and to PASIV for the music that always gives me chills.

Hmmm I fiddled around with this record for a while, think I'm okay with the result. Maybe somebody wants to add something =)

Sorry its all going so slowly btw! Just hard finding time to get it done faster!
It's been one year on this day, July 24th, since you left. I hope even now, from wherever you are, you still listen to me play the piano and are still proud of me. I miss and love you Pop. 7-24-10.
The strips are supposed to be music staffs, but it would have been too much work to write music notes so I just left it blank.

I thought about the 'Moon and Sun' tiny story from a somehow romantic point of view... you know, the Moon and Sun traveling through the skies searching for one another and finally getting together, the eclipse becoming a hug between the two.
I did a quick little doodle following that idea, then thought the result was kind of cute and decided to finish it properly :)

A couple o' months ago, Sel released her translated version of wirrow's atom song....when megan released her piano version, I really wanted to try singing it..so, yeah here we go!
Slight tweaking of zee words:
Siempre despierta y todo parece real
Como un conejo en un miel infinto come el mar
No estoy respirando y no estas respirando por mi
Compartes tus suenos y comparto los mios con tigo
Encuentrame en el mismo lugar, no existe nada allí
Encuentrame olvida los demás: no somos enemigos aquí
Puedo cantar por ti, sino orar la verdad
Pero no moriremos: el amor es infinidad
Veo la bomba a, volando en tu alma
Veo la bomba a cuando me cantas
"Always awake, everything seems real,
Like a bunny in endless honey like the sea,
I'm not breathing and you're not breathing for me,
You share your dreams and I share mine with you.
"Find me in the same place, nothing exists there,
Find me, forget the rest, we're not enemies here
I can sing for you, pray the truth,
But we won't die: love is infinity"
I see the atom bomb floating in your soul,
I see the atom bomb when you sing to me"

this comes from two sources ~ a sound i created from my ambient piece Waves & Shores (conjured up around April 2010), and a rhythm/synth idea i created in May 2011 out of inspiration to find a groove for the sound.
this has been a work-in-progress, but here's a basic idea for it. more ideas are bound to come later. and please feel free to fill the space with whatever you please. i have my own ideas about it, but i want to hear yours :)

for your remixing pleasure: clouds over desert, a little tripped out. music is by wirrow. the file is called "movie cliches" but i can't find it by that name on hitrecord. somebody help me!

This is a simple little song with mostly piano in it laid over some beats and a little bit of guitar. It's just dying to be remixed. :)
I was stuck inside with a cold with a view of snow outside, so I did a little blues/lounge inspired version of make space. Its a little bare so please join in.

A simple little song I made from fractaldust's lovely lyrics.

For Vickie's tiny song collab - here's my tiny musical interpretation of Attilee's 'Together'
Last song today ha! Bit of a change of tone for this one - I'm jumping on the hitRECord blues train with thanks to smweed's awesome lyrics. Additions/suggestions welcome!
smweed's lyric. poem; pamagotchi's vocals; and monkeychow in there somewhere,
I first noticed this collab a long time ago and knew I wanted to contribute, but wasn't sure how to go about it, because I didn't want to say it in text or video.
I want to make something very clear: this isn't a 'woah-is-me' record. This is more of a statement on self-perception. I think we all have days where we wished we could fix this or change that about our appearance. I know I have, especially when I was younger. We can become very harsh critics, picking ourselves apart, dissecting every perceived flaw. And in today's society it is possible to 'fix' some of these perceived imperfections via surgery, which it seems like more and more people are turning to. Which, in my personal opinion, is unfortunate. As someone who admittedly enjoys looking at both beautiful men and women, the people I find the most attractive are not perfect by traditional standards. There's something unique that sets them a part, something different, something that they probably considered a 'flaw' at some point in their life.
I have, at one time or another, felt all of things I wrote over this self-portrait. And there are still things about my appearance that I don't fully enjoy. I'm never going to be BFFs with my freckles, for example. But I have embraced them to the point where, even if given the opportunity, I wouldn't alter them.
What I eventually want to do is create a two-frame image with an honest self-portrait in one frame, and a distorted one in the other, to show how we can become so easily deceived by our own perceptions and criticisms. So in that way, this picture could probably best be described as 'notes' for that project.
So, if you do choose to heart this record or, especially comment, please be aware that this is not a current reflection of how I feel about myself and my appearance. I chose to do a self portrait of myself because it was the easiest and most honest way to send the message.

I found these really cool artist trading cards at my local art supply store and of course I had to do something with them for here! I think these have a lot of potential. They'd be very cool for tiny stories. The shadow one has the description of the Longrays on the back. Also, they look better in person. I really need a new scanner.

Today (7/27) is my one year hitRECord Anniversary... I know it sounds cliche, but I honestly can't believe it's only been a year. I have learned, loved, laughed so much with new friends, new confidence and pride, new horizons. Thank you to everyone who has made this year with hitRECord so magical <3
This video is a small collection of some of my favorite hitRECord moments ... things I made, time with friends, etc.
Uh... the song faded at the end in my project file and here it just cuts off. Ug. Oh well....

I don't know where this came from since I'm no musician but it happened! It could be cleaner but I've decided its best to stop tweeking it before I mess up and ruin the whole thing. Hope someone out there finds a use for it! Happy remixing!

I found Jooshua's guitar track and it sounded like a simple/sweet love song. So, that is just what I made it out to be. I wanted to try something different, and I played some real drums and piano for once, hopefully that trend will continue. The lyrics are overly simple, perhaps somebody else may want to write up something better, but they work for what the song is.
And finally, and most importantly, the awesome Robo J was kind enough to add some kicking bass to the tune. Well, there you have it. Hope the mix sounds ok. I tried some new things.
For the lives that were taken too soon. Feel free to add to it, i would love to build on it.

HAPPY HITRECORDIVERSARY TO ME!!! July 28, 2011 marks exactly one year since I joined hitRECord. I remember that night well... I think I had just come back from a club in LA, and then... well I don't want to ruin the story! It's a story told in the only way I know how to tell 'em: RANDOM AND ABSTRACT AS FUCK.
(there's a puppy though. she's adorable.)
One thing missing from the story, though, is how much I LOOOOOVE all my new friends I've met through this dastardly delight of a website. Seriously, guys. I love you all. Except you, Viddler. And I look forward to another amazing year to come!
Though in the UK it is technically the 30th of July - it's still 29th of July somewhere.
I joined hitRECord one year ago.
This is just a little video to mark the day, or day after, which mostly involves me messing about with stationary and some images of random RECords of mine.

My daughter found the party supply stash in my craft cabinet and has been bringing me a new balloon to inflate every couple hours for three days straight. This is the end result. I was planning to just upload the raw footage, but then I realized that the song "Once Upon A Balloon" would be perfect for it! And I've never done stop motion before, so we'll just call this trial and error, but I thought it turned out alright!
fun fact - that's the piano that was used to record this little song!

You touched my heart.
Now I can't seem to clean off your fingerprints. |

Feel free to add more instruments, or harmonies etc. May need a bridge as well, but maybe it should stay short and sweet?
I had a couple of hours to kill before work today so I decided to put this little number together. With my mouth.
My mom told me not to play with food, but I coudln't help it.
I talked a tiny bit with mirtle about drawing with edible material and saw Bree's "Joe Peanut". This turned and turned in my head and probably produced this. I was also very much influenced by Bree's stop-motion movies.
This was done with strawberry syrup, mustard, soy sauce, blueberry jam and cocoa with water.
Here you will hear Day Glo's "Strawberry Bootlaces" piece underscored by me playing piano. Love the British accent; hope the score is as loveable. Interestingly, I've actually lived the scenario so eloquently narrated... quite true to life, it is. Every bite.
