I used to wonder about the meaning of life, until I looked it up in the dictionary.
(made a quick edit -- previously the "until" ...
Okay so a few things here...
1] I have legit been fighting with this illustration (moreso Photoshop) for over an hour and I fear my brain has imploded and fizzled into bits of dust.
2] I warned you people I have a serious obsession with "Through The Looking Glass"...hence why my gal here is dressed a wee bit like Alice <3
3] Holy balls I need a stiff drink after fighting with this bastard all night...*wanders off to hunt up some whiskey*
he worked himself to death
sorry couldn't help myself. it's the tiny story deadline!!! woooo :)
imagined a line in a coffin or murdered...
This is one of my favorite tiny stories. I would love to see it get into the upcoming book, regardless of whose picture goes with it BUT since a picture seems to be a prerequisite for getting into the book and there isn't one yet, I am happy to provide one so it has a shot of getting in TBTSv1. This isn't my original; I altered thisisnotscott's picture.
Another Illustration! I love doing this! :) This is one of my favorites tiny stories! I Hope everyone like it! Please could you add this for the book! RegularJOE! Please! :)
"Tom was a confused little fellow. Born a fruit, regarded as a vegetable, he never knew where he fit in."
Ah the journey a tomato must go through to truly find himself ; P
Again, I think this could be a potentially funny short animation.
I can't tell you exactly where the "Who am I?" inspiration came from, I just think I can remember seeing snippet montage bits from a show or two (maybe it was a film) where there's a point in the characters life where they just decide to go on a journey of self discovery, and it's shown in black and white and instead of speaking they use boards with writing.... am I making this up?
Anyway I liked the tiny story : )
The boy's shadow whispered to him beneath the sunlight, "You see, you're really not so small."
(I think this illustration from Danah is perfect for this tiny story by blbest)
Mr. Fibbsgibbot has had a slight query
with Ms. May of Essil Road.
It all started with the idea that he'd land himself a pretty young thing for the night.
Yet another illustration for this fantastic tiny story! I was rereading this tiny story the other night while listening to the soundtrack of the Japanese anime "The Garden of Sinners (part 1)" and that's when the idea for this piece came to me (those who have seen the film would probably understand the reason behind this). Oh and I FAIL at perspectives, which I blame entirely on my lack of practice in observational drawings.
at our dayjobs we daydream about our dreamjobs.
I had an idea for a tiny story, sexymoustache made it awesome.
An illustration for Sparksee05's tiny story. I thought about what Joe said about not giving away the end of a story in the illustration and decided to illustrate that moment before the escape with the orange still on the table, shaking at the sight of the evil juicer ^^

Sometimes you can be in a room full of people, and yet feel very much alone..
You can also help me revise this story to go with this visual.
"I am what you made me," he said.
"I don't believe you," she quipped.
A silence fell upon them. "Then you've made me a liar."
just before i died, my life flashed before my eyes.
but it flashed so slowly that i lived it all again.
and again and again.. (text by rowrowrow)
I took themetafictionist and left-coast-jane's advice and made her happy about seeing her life replayed rather than sad. I also added details in the film strip eyes.
I loved Dientes Feos drawing so inspiraton struck for a tiny story, then I thought why not put it all together.
The Sun is such a lonely star. Whenever he comes out to see his friends, they all disappear.

One day before breakfast, an orange rolled off the counter and escaped its fate, bouncing happily through the kitchen door.
Filled with hope, the egg followed.
my visual interpretation of karizzMarie's tiny story.
what i'm trying to convey is the aspect of night and day so ideally when you flip the composition 180, it would read as night time, and the sun is content and excited, aka happy face (:
My take on the tiny story...this time about peeping birds.
(Drawing by With Pencil in Hand; tiny story by RegularJOE.)
An illustration for MadisenMusic's tiny story Hursery. I didn't want to draw something obvious with skeletons so I thought a bit about a setting someone might say this sentence in and came up with this trial scenario.
And it was a good chance to draw a forest of microphones :D
The Starfish sat on the sand, crying.
"I look up at the stars in the sky, but I cannot fly. I look at the fish in the sea, but they are not shaped like me.
My visual interpretation of the RegularJOE's tiny story. The first thing that came to my mind was mismatched expectations in a love relationship.
Fate and Coincidence spotted each other in a bar.
"Well, look who I ran into," smirked Coincidence.
"Please," scoffed Fate. "This was meant to be."
Alternate title: Faces on a Plane (someone gets a cookie if they spot the anomalous time on a clockperson and know why) Inspired by rayperez' "time zones" tiny story:
"Each time zone kept its own time zone name,
although, in every zone time behaved exactly the same.
From place to place, it kept a steady pace,
but every clock wore a different face..."
I've just found this in basic outline on one of sketch pads, so I've inked it and uploaded it. I must of done it a couple of months back at the earliest and looking at it I knew what I'd intended the title to be. The thing is I don't really remember where I was inspired from - I know it was a tiny story idea but the question is which one? I want to resource whoever it was but I just can't seem to find it. If you recognise the premise or even think it's yours - comment and I'll resource.
Sorry, I know this is a little unusual.
Sometimes I forget which me I'm supposed to be, so I pick one at random and hope for the best.
- I wrote this before I saw wirrow's drawing,...

an unfortunate miss,

The Starfish sat on the sand, crying.
"I look up at the stars in the sky, but I cannot fly. I look at the fish in the sea, but they are not shaped like me.
My visual interpretation of Matt Conley's As It Were tiny story. I was inspired by children's ability to let their imagination run wild with a such simple everyday object.
This actually applies to all hitrecorders when looking at simple records like a plain doodle or even a ditty or musical chords, we should let our imagination run wild and use those records to make bigger and better things.
i'd do it myself but i've got no skills AND i'm about to ninja off to hawaii... this is an idea i've had in my head for a while, with the circle police arresting some various polygons (a triangle, a square, possibly more) saying "HANDS UP! we've got you cornered" because oh, HA, i'm a math nerd who likes puns... hope someone finds it amusing.
anyway TAKE CARE, ALL OF YOU, see you in a week and a half! and here are some other stories of mine that would love illustrations: http://fractaldust.tumblr.com/post/7548805138/these-tiny-stories-want-you-to-illustrate-them

just an idea for this excellent tiny story... hopefully someone with better hand-eye coordination can illustrate this better : )
Whoever said that chivalry was dead?
Just thought I would submit a little doodle with the 'literal' representation of this tiny story.
Then again, I might or might not be insinuating something as well.
A tiny story in a tiny land

Read aloud under a shiny moon

Hey! So I've gotten a lot of questioning about my name on here. My name is Faith Nguyen, the Nguyen is pronounced win. Faithie is just my nick name. Any who, I just wanted to do this for fun again. I think it's fascinating how people all around the world can work together to do this!
Frustrated at his failed attempts to be seen as a tourist, the chameleon headed home.
Everywhere he traveled, he simply blended in.
Because the original drawing (and tiny story) is too awesome, I couldn't resist the temptation to colour it. And I couldn't believe I just spent my Sunday staring at a urinal! *dies*
“Many times I tried to reach Happiness... Until I realize... It has never been a destination. Happiness is a path.” My mom showed me a mail wrote by an anonymous that she received few months ago, it's called «Le Bonheur ». It gave me the basic idea for this Tiny Story. The author wrote about how we're waiting for happiness to come one day... We convince ourselves that we're gonna be happy when we'll be grown-ups, when we'll get married, when we'll have a pay rise, when we'll have children, when we'll get retired... Or simply happy when it's gonna be Friday night, Sunday morning, spring, summer... We think that we'll be happy when there will be no more difficulties to overcome, no more debts to pay, no more troubles. One day this person realized that all this obstacles were his/her life. That simple answer made him/her understand that there is no path that leads to happiness. Happiness is the path. Since that day he/she ceased to wait for better days, he/she creates them every weeks, every months by following that path. Sorry for that quality my scanner decided that today was its last day...
Hyuck, hyuck, hyuck.
This was a pun/tiny story I'd doodled out an illustration for about five or six years ago, which I found while thumbing through old sketchbooks. I re-did the drawings to look nicer, laid it out, and voila! I would say this is the worst pun I've ever made, but it's not even the worst pun I've made in the last 24 hours.
Also, I know, I know, the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories is in black and white, but I really wanted this one to have color. If this actually gets selected, I'll go back and re-work it.
Here is the final version of the previously posted version 2 draft.
Would someone be willing be do a noir-style shading of this, please?
One day she decided she was too old for an imaginary friend.
As he faded into the recesses of her mind for one final time, he sighed, "You were always real to me."
***THANKS to the resourced records! >>>Thank you HitRECorders!***=)
hopefully it will work this time! timely and properly… hopefully. ;p heh. will add resources once video uploads… fifth day, umpteenth attempt… but learned something new! :)
I lOve them ninjass mossst! hm… it's not a ninja unlove story… but still the best part… hah. if the video is uploaded and I haven't had a chance to edit this box thing… enJOY! :) oh the details… it's eye boggling… (yeh. boggles your eyes.) :p heh.
[Tiny-mation inspired by]: Pamagotchi's reading... beautiful & haunting...
hm. this record had my heart racing... most fun yet. There's a ton of HitRECord goodies to choose from... :D & I got carried away with the resources ;) yup...
-the boy and his red balloon sometimes makes it to the i... sometimes he doesn't, poor kid. :|
resources not listed:
-offer banner red vinyl, grass & butterflies, reel soundbite from a public domain
sorry to the grass & butterflies record. I think it was titled: Light whipped, treats... but I couldn't find it while resourcing... please leave a comment if you know who the artist is or if you are the artist and I will add it to the list of resources. thanks. :)

Here's an edit of pamagotchi's reading of "The Wicked Witch" at the Fall Formal.
First 15 seconds of this contain the shout out to OWS and the rest is Edward Shallow's readinf of "dead love"
I believe I have everyone included, if not please tell me- I want to include everybody.
oh, and funny story!
just as I was about to post this, a pop up came up and I accidentally closed out of my window, so I had to re-add all of the resources again. eek~!
there may be an easier way to do this, however- but I am a noob, so I'm unaware of all the helpful little tricks. c;
hope you enjoy. <3
This is my first proper animation ever, I usually only do animated gifs so please be gentle.
A day like 11.11.11 seems like a good day to release this film about repetition based on Wirrow's Tiny Story 'Proposition'. <3
The tomato was pretty confused about his identity.
That changed the day he had his horrific accident.
He was told he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life......
An animated version (more like slideshow thanks to the low frame rate) based on my illustration for Sparksee05's "Tiny Breakfast", accompanied by Joe's reading of the tiny story from the HR show at Seattle. Any suggestion for music to go with this?
So... I have been thinking about doing an animation version of this for a while and the original plan I had was to do this over Christmas holiday (when I would have a chance to benefit from my brother's sagely advice). However that plan got thrown out of the window when the boss decided to freak us out by giving us with an invisible deadline :P
I don't know what possessed me to think that I could actually pull this off in such short time frame (1 and a half day), seeing that I have virtually zero experience in animation except for the few odd gifs I have made and the textbook-corner-doodle-animation I did when I was in primary school. The only way I know how to animate anything at the present time is to draw them out frame by frame so that's what I ended up doing and halfway through the process I seriously considered stabbing myself with my Wacom tablet.
Earlier today, Cacheth made an awesome animation of mirtle's drawing, for Dina and RegularJoe's tiny story. She asked if someone could add Pamagotchi's reading - maybe it would fit better with the girl - and so I did this.
The music is a wonderful "Virgin-Suicide-y" little piece by JeffPeff, I absolutely love it and thought it would fit well with the atmosphere (and the spaceship !).
I really am a beginner at editing things (I still use iMovie you know) (haha), so it's not perfect but I'm kind of happy with it. What do you think ?? :)
Tried to do proper lip-synching for the first time, it's not easy. All the sound effects (apart from the voice-over) are from freesound.org
Played around with Eskapurla's animation of MadisenMusic's "Hursery" Tiny Story.
The remix consists of:
* hitRECord bumper
* An alternate VO take by RegularJOE
* Movement added to the animation (mainly in press/media cutaways)
* Alternate sound effects (microphone squeel, camera flashes, gavel, coughing in the courthouse, etc.)
* Reverb on the effects
* Establishing zoom-in shot of the courthouse
Found an awesome pretty girl and stuff!
