I could probably get the animation matched up with the audio, but it'll be a while before I will have the resources to do more animation sequences. If you've seen my "A Boy's Dream" animation, I might make Joe fly around, and point out cool stuff on the site.

but for now this is an unfinished animation using the marionette to go along with the audio for the black and white Help RECords WELCOME video.

NOTE: if anyone wants to match up the audio of Help RECords - WELCOME to this animation, that would be much appreciated. when I get around to it I'll finish this up. or make a different one. who knows.

A REmix of the "RE: Cinema" discussion with cinematographer Wally Pfister at the "hitRECord at the Movies" show at the BFI in London. I especially liked when Wally mentioned how Hal Ashby's work would later go on to be very important to him. I think it would be interesting to explore our early influences at some point collaboratively.

I love TwistedThursday's short story, I always wondered what the Princess's side of the story was, so I just wanted to play with the idea. I was also wondering if I could try a little experiment with you guys. I made this little film of mine black and white gave little detail to the environment, as a way of giving you guys the rest of control. Kind of like a big coloring book that turns in a story. You can print it out for some hand made illustrations or photoshop it. Go crazy! This is such a plain atmosphere, which is no fit for a princess add some crazy shannigans please. Make the leaves orange and pink or add a penguin with a tuxedo. Its just a small experiment of mine, and I'm curious
I added zip of the individual photos soon so you pick any moment or emotion and give it a try
Thank you♥

RegularJOE and I must be on the same wavelength because I've been working on this for the past few days, and he mentioned wanting someone to do this in reRECs this week-great minds think alike!

This is my third REmix of this, and I'm much happier with this than the previous versions as they felt disjointed. Once I figured out the narrative I wanted to pursue (with help from a friend who pointed it out), everything fell together much better.

I believe the collective viewing experience is truly valuable. One of my favorite parts of hitRECord at the Movies was getting to share it with everyone else-which is one of the things I love about this community as a whole. This started as my remix of both the Vista event and the college tour footage, but as it developed, it became more about where the cinematic experience is going.

The point of this teaser trailer format is to introduce the basic scope and jist of a collaboration, highlight some of the contributions and directorial notes on it, and encourage the community to collaborate.

One of my favourite poems of all time, I thought this poem would make a great wee video for HitRecord.

Although many say that this poem is all too much about Victorian stoicism and the British "stiff upper-lip", I think much of the message in this poem can still be applied to us today: dig in, be the change, and never give in.

Sportsmen, politicans, revolutionaries, the masses, the lone man...whatever our mission in life, let's do it to the best of our ability. To have the courage to face the trials, and the ability to inspire, motivate and to encourage.

I was really inspired by the great videos Matt Conley has been making in his "I Am.." series. He has some really great footage that I have used and mixed in with some that I found on Archive.org. The reading of the poem is also from archive.org, simple and effective.

Again (I seem to be using this piece of music in a lot of my videos), "Atardecer a Caballo" by Neilhouse just seemed to fit the bill. It is fast becoming one of my favourite Records on HitRecord.

I would love people to take this, remix, and play around with it: there are a lot of talented people out there, and my video attempt is very much that of a novice :)

Lots of love,

Pamela

OK, so I would first like to give you a little bit of background to my reasoning in creating this.

Yesterday, I found out that my brother has been accepted to Sandhurst. This is the British Officer Training Academy for the British Army. All of a sudden, what we have all seen for many years on the television was filtering into my my own life. In what might be as little as 18 months, my brother would be putting his life on the line, leading men into a warzone. There is no way that I can hide behind the flimsy shield of a television screen anymore.

Although I may not support the reasons why I country may choose to go to war, I am firmly behind the people who, when the decision has been made, gather their belongings, say goodbye to their families and take a step into unknown peril. They walk, heads high, into the Inferno.

I studied Dante's "Divine Comedy" at university, and the horror that Dante describes as he descends into Hell leaks off the page into your mind. His words ring home even now, when we recall the images of war that have been broadcast over the past century.

"The woeful people who have lost the good of the intellect"
I really don't want this line to be misinterpreted. What Virgil is describing are the souls who could not put their faith in something in life: they are doomed to spend eternity chasing a white flag, unsure of where to go.

I do not want people to think that I consider the soldiers "The woeful people", devoid of intellect. They are not. What I mean to say is: when the power of the word is no longer enough, primal instinct kicks in: and there are those chosen few who are designated to defend us.

I do not deny that this video is depressing. Perhaps it is too pessimistic: I have always wanted to work with Dante's writings, and the horror of war is something that although we may have not witnessed it directly, we have all been indirectly influenced by it. It has, unfortunately, become somewhat of an everyday occurence.

"Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here"
These are perhaps some of the most famous lines written by Dante. The world is not a perfect place. And there are times, yes, when even the best of us lose hope. But as Virgil says; we must put aside our distrust and arm ourselves with courage: for it is up to us to be the change.

This idea was partly inspired by Wirrow's "And a new earth". Wirrow's video challenges us to look beyond the 4 walls of what society deems to be "the norm", and look out, branch out.

I wanted this video to make us do the same. We cannot escape reality. We must accept that war, inevitably, is something that we will have to live with. But to be the GOOD in the world, when there is so much distress, hardship and pain...that is the real challenge.

Again, this video is very rough, and horribly primative. Feel free to remix, re-record, and re-inspire.

Lots of love,

Pamela

Going through a lot of the audio/video REsources for the RE:Cinema collab, I found that there was a repetition of people talking about going to the movies as a shared experience with strangers/those around you.

That's what I, personally, love about going to the movies; even though you individually get sucked into what's going on, you're still sharing that communal experience with those in the same room.

Hi! Let me start off by saying how much I adore these owlets. I'm no animator, but I thought I'd try my hand at making a very basic little animation to go along with Wirrow's text and Pamagotchi's audio. I added a little twist ending.

My brother helped me put it together. Again, not much of an animator, but I thought the idea was kinda fun, so if you think you could do a better job (and you most certainly can) I'd love to see some other people's take on it. Thanks and enjoy :O)

I love light leaks on film. All of the footage is from my family 8mm films (again). I had originally intended on doing something with the footage that had light leaks with "Everything is on Fire" (and may still unless someone else wants to tackle it), but then I heard this and it was just so ethereal, I knew I had to use it. wirrow you are freaking amazing! All of the light leaks are part of the film-not done on my computer.

The sung refrain in this is from 11/11.
That was the day The REGULARITY began, been RECording weekly since then, on the regular.
Towards the beginning of the day, I jotted down some off handed thoughts.
Several hitRECorders turned them into audio.
And now noiseball has turned it into our next club hit ;o)

I thought I'd add some drums. Now for the excuses. There's a lot of mistakes in here. I wanted to do more takes, but my drumsticks broke. Still, I'm hoping you crafty music editors out there can glean some good bits from this as we continue to refine it towards the fine song it will some day be.

I can picture people dancing to this with vodka in their blood in Park City, Utah.

I'm also Releasing the Resources so you remixers can have your way with this my humble contribution...

I'd like to think of this as hitRECord's first unofficial sneaker commercial. I think it has that kind of vibe to it.

There's quite a bit of REmixing done to the original resources here. I played around with the sequential storyline to the dance video and edited to the music of thesherbethead (which I also had to REmix quite a bit - including shedding the brilliant "Alice" sample that just didn't fit into this.)

This was a lot of fun to do and I really like the last few moments quite a bit. There's just something really cool about the way the two dancers acknowledge one another. I played with the footage ever so slightly during that interaction, which is pure magic.

This record took me waaaaaaay longer than I thought it would!!

When I listened to Madrond101's beautiful picece for the first time I instantly fell in love with it and I still can't stop listening to it so I knew I had to do something with it. I found a record by L.A with amazing footage of Paris and remixed it with Joe's Escargots and daysandhours's Sans Toi.

I'd love for someone to write a story for this and someone to read it as a voiceover, preferably a dark male voice, but anything goes really ;)

The story in short: he gets up in the morning, just to go looking for his lost love, he sees her in every girl and goes on a frantic search through the whole city, drowns his pain in alcohol and eventually lets go. Nouveau Départ - A New Start :)

Enjoy! Looking forward to your texts and VOs xxx

Regular Joe’s “Escargots” was a video that I was really looking forward to re-RECording. For me, the language barrier in the poem Joe adapted was a welcomed obstacle in trying to draw a theme from the piece. The French language forced me to focus on the video’s elements of style and performance to reach a conclusion about its meaning.

And to be honest, I found myself perplexed by the video. But it was really interesting to watch and attempt to dissect.

When I approached re-RECording “Escargot” I knew I was going to eliminate the narration and create an interpretation of Joe’s character and his adventures in Paris. To me, the character seemed like an outsider struggling to uncover some kind of meaning to life. I re-titled my video with the French phrase “Raison d'être” (translation: “Reason For Being”) in order to give my re-RECording a starting point to be re-intrepreted.

It was as if he was getting all dressed up to go searching for something outside his boxed in room, only to find himself running around in circles in eternal frustration and impatience.

I drew from those emotions in my interpretation and felt I had found the perfect companion piece in the “Ain’t Nothin” beat by phonontek (one of the best beats I have ever heard.) It is a somewhat grating loop, and I found that to match the tone of the character’s frustration and tension.

Without simply putting movement to a beat, I constructed a narrative that is up for interpretation. Though under a minute, I did try and orchestrate a three act story. We begin with the character getting ready and heading out into the city and when we leave him he does seem to have a better understanding of something.

What that is I cannot say. That’s for the audience to decide, or re-RECord.

One time when I was half asleep in History, the teacher shouted: "SEX!" And it made me lift my head up. Then he explained that most people will generally react to the word, and if you say it, others will start paying attention to your conversation.

So I added that little piece of learned knowledge in to my chalkboard stop motion. Because I have something to tell you. :)

Feeling uninspired? Draw on something blank! I learned that from xobreexo. <3 [also, I feel like this bad boy needs some sound effects. I picture sherbetheads "I feel like a baby kitten" audio to go over the half a second stick sex scene. Any takers?)

So I made a collab for this here http://v4.hitrecord.org/records/206335
So I was working on the script for this a few weeks ago, and was planning on sending it on to some festivals...Then I came upon this site and fell in love with it. Also I found May McDonough's amazing song "Riverside". Then I continued writing with the song in mind and it evolved into something much more interesting and the piece you see before you now. So now instead of sending it to film festivals I give it to you, the HitRECord community to do with as you please.

Finally, I was trying and trying to find a way to make a tribute for Burning Dan with this, and all I could think of was to use "A mini-Concert For Dan" for the final sequence and to dedicate the video to him. Hopefully this video "Burns on" in memory of him.

As always, feedback is welcome, Remixes encouraged, and if there's anything that bothers you, let me know and I'll be sure to fix the problem in my next record.

Have a lovely Day

Thank you RichieMillennium for the wonderful VO! So I have got a chance to do this animation. Tiny story by wirrow, one of my favorite. I love the  drawing, so tried to make animation look familiar.Well... I actually didn't want to use music, just sounds. Then discovered tonguecutsparrow's "The Welcome Party at the Gates of Hell"  - love  all that  strange mystic sounds. Its like ost of Lynch's "Eraserhead". And this is my first animation in 2011 :)

P.S.

I will later upload sound  of footsteps  I used here, in case anyone will ever need it. It actually not footsteps at all, it's "handmade" sound.

Thanks so much for featuring this!  I stumbled upon reneg88's page one night and loved all his songs, which are titled "Music for Short Film",  and wanted to use one to make a simple and sweet piece. So I pulled my husband into the bedroom when he got home from work that night, and wound up with this.

It is amazing to see all the great results of this clip!  If anyone wants any clips in the orginal color format to use in a remix let me know and I can upload them.

Just download the file and see what you can create with it all. Good luck!

the best part of a journey is the journey itself, the 'getting there' bit. when i was little i never wanted to stop and rest, i'd rather carry on travelling until we'd reach the destination, so that i could anticipate the trip back:D
i like contemplating the road, there is something very cosy about it.
also road footage is a great material for a bigger thing. or a smaller thing. that's why it's here for you to use.

Metaphorest's vocal REmix of mikeregannoise's "Telephone" instrumental really resonated with me. It's just the right length and features somewhat of an abrupt ending. So I figured I'd compile some visual REsources and tell the story of the song... with a slight twist.

You see, I interpreted the song a bit differently than the ending suggested. I think the woman would pick up the phone after thinking back on the times she had with the boyfriend; especially since they were together yesterday. So I wanted to add a touch of hopefulness and possible reconciliation at the end, just for good measure. :)

Note: REmixes can be very challenging when you're pooling multiple REsources to tell a linear story. In case anyone was wondering, the character in the video is supposed to be the same woman throughout the video (but played by three different actresses from three different videos.) I did my best to edit it so she'd look the same in each cut (the actress from "Noiry Night" didn't quite have the short blonde hair look, so I stuck with silhouetted shots of her.)

I just wanted to throw that intent out there in case anyone was wondering.

Set to the somber sounds of gbwhale's "I Walk Alone," this RECord is my interpretation of a man (with hat) who goes to sleep and has the inability to fully realize his dreams due to circumstances of his past.

The visuals in his dreams are fragmented and unclear. The purest images he sees are those of cold ice, and his lonely feet walking through snow. The things that matter, or mattered, to him are fading into unrecognizable memories.

Alright, so as soon as I uploaded the original "Sundance New Frontiers" I felt I had jumped the gun. I started to think about some key Sundance footage that I had neglected to use and I began to get restless. An "instant REmix" was in order.

So, without further ado, here is the REmixed RECord, a mere hours after the original's debut. There were some changes to the first half and the second half is essentially all new, so if you already scoped out the first version please watch this one like it's the very first time.

And thanks to tonguecutsparrow and HangLOOSE for their brilliant song, as well as to all the cinematographers I resourced for the visuals.

The hitRECord revolution will now be televised.

Additional Notes:

  1. No re-recs this week. This video (which I have taken to referring to as "the beast") took up all my time and energy, to the point where I forgot to even look at what people were putting up on hR for most of the week. I'm relying on you guys to tell me what I missed, because there's way too much for me to go through otherwise.

  2. I used a butt-ton of public domain resources. If one of them interests you, leave me a note with the time at which it was used and I can probably go back and find it. I tried to keep an organized list of resources for all the public domain I used, but it was way too difficult.

  3.   Per usual, I used roughly a bazilion different videos, so if I either fail to resource yours or resource something I didn't end up using, leave me a note letting me know.

  4. I consider this a mostly finished product but, as always, I'm open to and welcome revising and suggestions.

  5. This video was brought to you by Trader Joe's popsicles, which I consumed a frankly obscene number of in order to fuel the making of this monster. I couldn't have done it without you guys. You were both magnificent and delicious.

I shot this 4-minute video in 2005 in the glitzy Roppongi Hills distinct of Tokyo. Originally, it was edited to correspond rhythmically with a liquid-laden 1990s drum-and-bass song by Orbital. I post it here without sound.

Mix and remix as you please. Otherwise, I hope that (1) some hitRECord musician will re-score it; and (2) an animator or video artist will give its 2005-colors a 2011-worthy pop and punch.

P.S. Please have patience with the beginning of the video. Without the driving force of the previous soundtrack, the introductory visual loops do not come off as motivated as they used to.

I made this flash animation using images of Seattle found here for the RE:Cities collaboration.

I taught myself how to do this today (thanks to some jiggery pokery with photoshop, illustrator, and flash) so it's still rough because I'm not very good with making videos yet, but if someone wants to remix this to make it nicer that would be excellent. Especially the music track because it kind of ends on a strange note. And the transitions are a bit weird.

today was SUPPOSED to be my day of sitting around in my underwear watching movies and eating not so good for me food, but then i went on this website and started looking through my old recommends and i re-read this piece by channing_tatum. and at nyu they taught us that sitting in a room by yourself and talking to yourself is fun soo, I got all inspired n shiz, sat in the corner in my underwear and did not so good for me smoking, and made a little movie so.. life has a way of balancing itself out, i guess.

I feel like i have to be honest here, before i made this i watched that "I'm Still Here" movie done by casey affleck and joaquin pheonix. The whole idea behind it kind of blew my mind. so i was attempting to mirror that kind of style

Extra thanks to missamerica for providing some great constructive criticism on the first version regarding the audio at the end. I agree with her 110% in that it works best without the final sound byte, leaving more emphasis on the narrtion and its content.

Here is a theatrical trailer I cut of "Morgan & Destiny's Eleventeeth Date: The Zeppelin Zoo."

I know that everyone was absolutely ecstatic today when Lawrie unleashed a work-in-progress "visual cut" of the new adventures of Triple M. Soon after I embarked on this trailer, and I tried to make it as close to a theatrical teaser as possible.

This was a tougher task than I expected because the dialogue is almost completely in the narration, so cutting away to conversations is nearly impossible. The sound effects aren't in place really, so I had to mostly rely on Nathan's score (also in the work-in-progress stages.)

I had to do a fair share of rearranging the musical score, making each of the themes fit together and also fit the narrative structure of the trailer (re-introduce Morgan and Destiny, introduce Lionel, and then make a suspenseful montage of the plot and action.)

This is for you, Lawrie.

RegularJOE here. The old media tends to call me Joseph Gordon-Levitt, that being my name and all. Here in the new media, I hit that round red REC button on a regular basis.

HITRECORD.ORG is a project I started almost five years ago now, and in 2010, we evolved into a professional open collaborative production company. We create and develop art and media collaboratively here on our site. Even this introductory video is the remixed result of a great many contributions. So rather than just exhibiting and admiring each other's work as isolated individuals, we gather here to collectively work on projects together. Videos, writing, photography, music, anything -- we call them all RECords.

Now and then, when I think something we've made has come out especially well, I approach the traditional entertainment industry to turn our work into money-making productions; and then we share any profits with the contributing artists.

Thanks for coming by. Hope you join us, I'd love to work with you. Are you RECording?

Re-edited video (8 Oct 2012): http://www.hitrecord.org/records/981312

RP did a great job with his edit, so I took the chance to try something different.

Used split screens because I thought it would be interesting to see Joe's video feed, the screen and the filming process simultaneously, together with the audience's perspective. Left the most awesome segment as straight cuts because such awesomeness does not need further embellishment.

The syncing was tough though, and rendering time sucks... Though the biggest pain in the ass is file format and exporting. T.T

Couldn't be at the event, but I'm so glad I got to edit such a great performance. =D

My friend and I shot this video based on a true story. It was insanely hot, we were eating Popsicles and my fan broke. As we were looking at the fan, not really feeling the desire to fix the fan (because it was so hot we were tired), this bossa nova song came on the radio. It was hilarious timing. We originally put this video to that bossa nova song, but it's copyrighted so we can't use it. I was hoping people on this site could have fun with it and do things with it we hadn't even thought of. Have fun! Mike

38 separate stems on this one...

If you are not part of the choir, it means you either did not sing at Joe's direction, or you didnt sing in key with Chigwinkle's RECord (or both), or you had excessive noise in your RECording.  You may also have spoken the words or played an instrument - I wanted this one to be strictly acapela.

I tried to retune as many RECords as possible, but some wouldn't re-tune sensibly.  If you still want to be part of the choir it is not too late!  Simply follow Joe's lead, and sing in the same key as Chigwinkle.  BE SURE TO LISTEN TO THE AUDIO BY HEADSET while you are RECording - we don't want the sound of Joe or Chigwinkle bleeding over to YOUR RECording.

I'll re-do this next week sometime, which should give those still wishing to contribute time to do so.

Ok, again! With video!:

I'd like to see/hear:
- A narrator
- Music
- More scenes
- A story evolve from this short segment of a runaway bride's adventure (or maybe you have a different idea of who she is...)

This is my first real project with Progression Pictures that had somewhat of an intent or purpose going into it. I took a trip out to DC in May of 2006 to visit some family, and wanted to put together a creative little piece of video to document the process. There was an older version of this video that people seemed to really enjoy. So I left the intent of that video while at the same time giving it a shiny, new, updated facelift.

Nels Cline -- I mostly know him as Wilco's guitarist, although he's made all kinds of music in all kinds of contexts. Let's start layering visuals -- http://www.hitrecord.org/records/81888

Here's some (lo-fi) video of the occasion.

I think it makes a decent jumping off point for what we can begin to do visually. Plus Ryan Patrick's excellent video from yesterday where he set the song to public domain footage involving fire and smoke.

I'm sure any election results in my country don't depend on common people. This is my humble opinion and I think I have a right to express it.

I hope you guys have another situation.

I'm totally apolitical and I regard this video simply as an art, the visual idea I want to share with you.

Due to me being a complete idiot, my "Thank You" video RECord has to be a two-parter. Let me explain.

I moved last month and had simultaneous leases in Rockland, MA and New Bedford, MA. On May 11th I officially changed my address at the Post Office. What i should have done as well was change my address on my hitRECord Payment Info page.

But I spaced and didn't do it.

Now, for whatever reason, I have gone a month with ZERO forwarded mail. I have made several calls and all the accumulated mail that should have been forwarded hasn't arrived yet. It just seems a bit strange.

So, I figured I'd start by saying "Thank You" with a self-depricating video that explores my adventures in finding my mail.

I'll save the real emotion for Part Two! :)

My two dogs, Abbey and Scout, make cameos.

* Note: The acoustic song is called "Black Kettle." I can't seem to locate it to properly Resource it.

It Worked!!!!!!!

This is a mash-up/music video I did to one of my favorite Wirrow songs, "Its a wonderful life".

Its mainly about how different generations deal with their emotions and how we express our feelings especially when dealing with war.

I feel that the world is in such chaos these days and it affects everyone in completely different ways.

I made it over the summer with the help of my sister and her friend but never put it up because I didnt think it was finished but I'm putting it up now because maybe someone else would like to finish it.

I have a few more resources I have to find, let me know if I am missing any.

I thought It would be fun to do a little work in After Effects. Maybe to tide myself over while my larger animations were sitting on the back burner.

So I fired this one out using AE. Lots of fun! If you're looking to create some great kinetic text, look no further than SureTarget by VideoCopilot. It's FREE! And REALLY helpful.

Enjoy and Please use it!! Nothing would make me happier than to see some results using this!

REVISION: Added the AE file as a zip in the Results section.

My confidence took a bit of a bollocking in the past 24. But art heals, and this video has been a kind of catharsis in getting it all out and trying to focus on the next step instead of obsessing over what could have been done differently.

All done in a single take, it becomes a bit of a melodramatic thought vomit, but hey, I feel loads better now :D

Here's a little stop-motion video I made to accompany Vickie's beautiful song based on Wirrow's tiny story, "things." I am VERY much a beginner at stop motion - my skils have a long way to go, and my recording setup is Macgyver-esque at best... I'm generally happy with the scattered, dreamy feel this has, and Vickie's song is just so perfect. :)

A perverse new character i've created, who'll soon have some new friends hehe! Hope you enjoy - the humour is dark and weird (so if your easily offended avoid) It imagines life - unapolagetically through the eyes of a cat.

For remixing and collab, id love if folks wanted to have a go making a short 15 second theme song for SootyPaws, that i could use as an intro and outtro!

Am I crazy?

A music video for the awesome 'I Have No Cats' song.

***

Update (11.6.11): the second costume in this video was my costume for Halloween this year. I should have tried something else... it wasn't very practical when I wanted to drink or eat something...

6.27.11

I wanted to apologize for not being able to make re-recs albums for the next few weeks (I'm on the move). I tried to make it up to all my readers by making this video (last week) with some records I would have re-recommended:

- "I Have No Cats": songs and collaboration

- the "hitRECord Mugshots" collaboration (and records)

- Call-In Song Requests: there are fantastic contributions!

- K-REC Stingers and the hitRECord 'Radio'

I also wanted to talk about the lip-syncing technique: I think it's not used enough for music videos in general and I would like to see how you would use it...

ok my example/ video is not the best one, but it really was just for fun. I couldn't shoot with some friends so I had to do it myself (and I'm not an actress as you can see hahaha) but for once, I wanted to show you what I had in mind and not write some suggestions or ideas for a video remix...

I didn't have much time for the editing but I will re-work on it when I'll be back. So, it's a work in progress as I'm still not completely satisfied with it.

Thanks again to tonguecutsparrow for the song and lyrics. I wouldn't have been able to make this video without the lyrics! ;)

So we brainstormed, and shot video, acted, wrote, produced music and singing and make up and all sortsa thigns and then got the film finished!

Its a creepy little film that was made in complete collaboration and later versions (edited by others) and other bits and bops hopefully other folks will upload seperately. Feel free to add more to this film if you want guys - its ripe for remixing. Enjoy!)

circulation~ [first part of first draft of first idea] [that means this isn't done yet >_>]

bit different, 'cause I did it all with pen and no pencil sketches. (so it's not all that gloriously well planned)

thought it fit into IrmaVep's beautiful (and very linear) images with more cohesion. we are circuitry as much as we are circulation, created out of connected dots, all by inspiration or accident.

I've run out of paper, so this is all I can do until I get more. I'd love some feedback before I continue, though. :) colour for one thing.

this needs some music too! anybody got suggestions? :D

Here's another Space Travel RESource that I've been working on.  I've been using some of the fantastic NASA Public Domain images that you can find here http://pds-imaging.jpl.nasa.gov/ and experimenting with 3D and animation in After Effects.  Audio by Josh Beck.

I've been having a bit of a problem exporting this, so I hope it works.

This is a re-re-(re?)-remix of Metaphorest's lovely Tiny Story "Imaginary Friends," which is one of my very favorites.  Toss, who's a genius at finding the perfect public domain resources for everything cut the first video and MattConley did a kick-ass remix of that (well, duh, it's MC! :)). I just wanted to make it shorter and add Joe's quote bumper like the other Tiny Story videos. I also changed the music because, although I'm a huge fan of tonguecutsparrow, I thought wirrow's "When We Were Invisible" fit the mood I was going for a little better. And calliope was very kind to respond so quickly to my audio request and did a wonderful job with the vo.

Thank you all <3

circuitous : (of a route or journey) longer than the most direct way

again, still working on this. I'll finish adding the bursts of colour when I'm done developing the next several sequences. this is really turning out to be my most ambitious animation yet, hah! :D at some point i'm pretty sure I'll learn how to draw a circle

I think, in all, it should be about a minute long when I'm done, but that depends on what kind of stuff I add later.

the next step is a tree growing up out of the RECycle sign, splitting off, and then... something.

PS, I wrote a derpy, really long rant about word association and analysis in the comments, so you wouldn't have to read it if you didn't want to. :D

UPDATE... Hope maybe some part of this animation could come in useful for anyone creating the Fall Formal Intro Video.

This is an updated version of last years 'Fall Formal" animated intro I did.

May seem a bit of a cheat I know, but there's more to it than just a date change. There are a couple of new text bits which I hope people can take, remix and do whatever with and also this is now 29.97 frames (to keep in line with all the americans!)

....that's a whole extra 4 frames per second, value for money or what!

I'm really into Dr. Gory's "Mr. White REmix" (especially once the drums kick in full throttle.) So I wanted to take the song and rearrange it a bit, as well as sample Channing's "Mister White Rabbit" narration.

Then I cut the new track to footage from the "Alice In Wonderland" film that was made in 1915. It's public domain so the footage was up for grabs. Though not the best footage (very little variety, poor quality, and a bit outdated) it still made for an interesting time at my editing station.

So, I'm not really sure what this end result is. Maybe a music video? Maybe a short film? Maybe just another one of my experimental montages?

Here is the link to the public domain video, originally supplied by Tanja, and Resourced below: http://www.archive.org/details/AliceinWonderland1915

I found aszarkowski's album of public domain and found this which inspired this video....  I found shaheershadid's song "It's not jazz" & tied it in the video. I did a lot of looping, trimming and repeats with this dancing conductor. My my, he likes to get down ;-P

Help: Shaheershadid's song has an abrupt ending, could someone please soften the transition? That would be soo nice! :) I don't mind redoing the video to fit it in.

Geno's "The Talk Man" was a captivating RECord. It seemed like a fragment of a bigger story about the subject, and yet - as a viewer - we were shown a wide range of emotions in such a short amount of time.

I wanted to REmix it without the profanity, but I wanted to preserve the way i felt about the man. So I REmixed the video and the dialogue a bit into the structure of a Tiny Story. The words seem secondary to what this man says with his face.

In my opinion there was really only one Video RECord that could have matched up with bmaesays's {risque} Tiny Story "He Wears a Suit," and that RECord is AvaLeFou's "West Virginia Slims."

This is essentially part cologne ad and part Tiny Story REmix.

...And another really appreciative thank you to amysz for responding to my request for a reading of the text. She did an outstanding job! And she's a great reminder of the community here. <3

I love all the contributions to this collaboration - especially the public domain footage, so I wanted to have a go remixing it all together. I don't think it's necessarily fully-formed (is a RECord ever?) but I thought it might work as a base or inspiration for other people making theirs.

Original Script I started out with.  What is blacked out is what I edited out as time went on mostly due to limiting commercial time length or to more clearly describe how you can get a button.  List of all resources are at the bottom.

Adovcate/Narrator

There’s a growing plague in our world.  It affects men & women.  Young & old.  Rich & poor.  This isn’t an issue that remains in the third world.  It has even found a way to reach our shores here in the United States.  And yet, amazingly enough we choose to do nothing about it.  Yes.  The tragic truth is that the majority of us are buttonless.

But there is hope.  The good people at hitRECord have pledged to give a free button with every order.  That’s right.  Anytime you purchase any item from the hitRECord store such as a tote Every purchase through the RECord store for things such as a tote bag, shirt, poster, badly needed underwear, or even with the purchase of their very first anthology, RECollection Vol 1, you will receive a beautiful red button.

So go to the hitRECord store, and do your part to make sure you never go another birthday without a button again.  God bless.

HitRecord TV brings you the best in independent programming. I'd love to watch a daily dose of worthwhile HitRecord programming. Encourage 90s-style cartoonists in particular to create more. Note: The visuals were made using After Effects. Both the visuals and music were then run through a VCR and recorded, giving everything that lovely warmth.

A short film I made with my friends for our schools film festival. Unfortunately there were ALOT of limitations in the festival, and therefore several imperfections

There was a 5 minute maximum time allowed for each film, we had to include each person on our team into the film, and we only had from Friday afternoon to Monday morning to write, shoot, and edit our piece.

It was incredibly frustrating but very fun to make! Hopefully you like it!

this remix was made in v3 from several videos & the main video i resourced didn't make the leap from v3 to v4 & therefore doesn't show up in the resources. none of the original video work was made by me, i just remixed it. i only wish i could remember who the main footage was from, so i could credit them properly - but i just wanted to put that out there in case there was any confusion, because the creative wonder who made it deserves to take the credit for their beautiful piece of film. :)

i'd also like to dissuade people from using it in remixes, just in case the person who made it doesn't want it being used.

Took Cacheth's beautiful "Circuitous Beats" video and combined it with videotroph's "circulation" text. As cacheth's piece is quite short I played on the idea of repitition, and where videotroph used symbols in the text, I tried to pair the words in the reading with appropriate visuals!

I hate when people get up to go to the bathroom durning a movie, it's ever worse durning a live show. With that said, sometimes you plan poorly and drink too much chocolate milk. Apparently I wasn't the only one.

Here's my 2 cents worth towards the 'The Man in the Herringbone Hat' collaboration. Started by animating the 'herringbone card' designed by steve rolston and then that kind of evolved into this opening title sequence. Hope you like.

Thanks to everyone for the resources, especially megan carnes for the track 'Sunday evening'.

Also thanks to Matt Conley for the link to www.archive.org (I never even knew it existed!), have used these public domain clips:
http://www.archive.org/details/ThirdAve1950
http://www.archive.org/details/CEP189
http://www.archive.org/details/The_Living_Playing_Cards

So what next....
I liked the idea I read the other day by Wirrow about the possiblity of this film being done in style simliar to Richard Linklaters 'A scanner darkly' - whereby someone films this story as best as possible (even if it's just with appropriate actors?) and then the footage is rotoscoped by us all, & the set & bkgrounds created by animation - hard work I know, but could look great!

The opening archive footage from these titles could be used a demo for this process if someone wants to give it go??!

As wirrow's "tiny stories" collaboration steps into the spotlight via our newly published Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, I'd like to start shining light on short film adaptations as well. I made this bumper to go in front of those short films in order to unify them into some semblance of a series. Also, I'd like to see Marke's "Now Available go at the end.

Hey Guys!

Here's another animation for everyone!

Although I think it's pretty cool, I think this animation in particular would really be awesome with staticky sound effects.  Once I find some cool sound effects, I'll upload another version.  Or, perhaps, someone could remix this with sound?

Anyway, even w/o sound effects, I thought it would be cool to upload it in its current form.  Enjoy!

Teaser for the "Creation Myth" collaboration to highlight some of the contributions (so far) to the "a new hevn" project. It's also supposed to play like a preview before a feature, hinting at the story and giving a glimpse at the audio and visuals.

Ozie's cool animation provides the bulk of this particular coming attraction's moving images and Johnnyclyde's music was sampled and remixed over RegularJOE's narration (and the audio is best heard with headphones.)

this is definitely becoming more of a dream-like narrative exploration, which I'm not sure is the direction it's supposed to go, but it's sorta leading the way all by itself. I'm not actually driving this thing, I'm just putting it on paper. :'D

sorry this gets so loosey-goosey towards the end, but being that this is a work in progress (and will be for a while) I managed to convince myself out of feeling bad for uploading it like this.

if you ever felt the need to get a closer insight to the process of an ADD artist, this looks a lot like it.

I totally started this evening with an excellent work ethic, but then I started watching 'How to Train Your Dragon' and that put a right stop to that.

also, I kept her in black instead of white (mostly) like IrmaVep's image, 'cause I wanted to maintain some continuity of character and keep the contrast between the male and female figures for later. just so you know. :D

I don't even understand how this came about as I was intending on doing something entirely different.

Quite honestly, Chan's voice over mesmerized me, the beat transfixed me, and the rest was just my brain working on overdrive.

It started with a random RECord I got whilst riding the subway, and turned into the truth:

I see you everywhere I go; I miss you; I love you, hitRECord.

(full screen for best effect.)

I loved alpal's mesmerizing video Reverse Snow and JohnnyClyde's beautiful Snow Song. Metaphorist did a lovely reading of Fractaldust's text Cosmic Significance, And My Lack Thereof and set it to Snow Song.  I used trapeze here to try to echo Alpal's original video of snow falling upward.

I did a second version that is set only to Johnnyclyde's Snow Song. It's called SnowSong Trapeze.

Sorry for the lack of smiles. When I finally figured out what Love is to me it was around 3 a.m. last night.

And now that I think about it, maybe it's time to share a little story... I've always been into arts, but I never really got enough encouragement from my parents to develop my artistic abilities. I've always loved writing, painting, acting, dancing, singing. Even if I think I'm not so good at it, I do it anyway. It's fun and it allows me to be myself. In HitRECord I found the encouragement I've always looked for to create and keep doing so. I'm never gonna get tired of saying this, but I really do love this place.

And it totally sounded like a testimonial. I should've started with "Hi, my name is Dee..." and then you all say "Hi, Dee".

The song and the movie were made 101 years apart. Isn't in funny how well they work together? This is why I like watching silent films with my own soundtracks. You take some sexy beat, and you set it to Asta Nielsen's sexy dance here, which was actually so sexy, too sexy for 1910, that the original film release censored it completely! It's not too sexy for today, is it? It's just sexy enough, I think, and isn't that all that matters??

Footage is from the film Afgrunden/The Abyss, which is available in the public domain: http://www.archive.org/details/Afgrunden_1910

The story of Little Red Riding Hood performed by Sean Lennon, The Gregory Brothers and some people from audience at hitRECord on Halloween.

Coincidence or not (on a night full of other amazing coincidences), I was dressed as the Little Red Riding Hood, costume that I have brought from home in Brazil just to wear on this party!!!

Unluckily I wasn't chosen to perform on stage... But honestly, I'm not too sure if I could do better than the girl that was chosen, she was good.

Funny as hell, enjoy!!!

PS: Sorry about the typo! ADAPTED by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, not ADOPTED! But if he wants to adopt this Little Red Riding Hood I wouldn't mind at all... lol

So this is very much a work in progress but I wanted to put the first draft out there and get some feedback and also spark up some interest in this project. I need way more footage to complete this. I know not all of the EX3 footage has been uploaded and Joe still hasn't uploaded his footage but I know that there are still some users out there that haven't uploaded their footage of the parade either. So I urge you all to hit record and upload your footage of this amazing mob of HitRECorders.

Also if you were planning on editing this footage as well, I stongly encouage you to do so. Who knows if we could maybe combine both of our edits together or maybe your edit is just better than mine. So happy remixing and get to work. :)

Feminism*, family, friends; spooky, spectacular, silly... Can you guys really sit there and listen to me narrate the entire day for 13 minutes? :) A lot of you fine folks are in this, because I wanted to thank you all for making this such a wonderful day and night.

I also want to thank Joe and Jared (and their wonderful friend - sorry I did not catch your name!) at around 7:07, to explain the crow feathers, and at 8:40 to take on a project that Joe tasked me with: "Go thou and record Halloween Night in NYC." Joe, you said "the entire city is a performance tonight" and that really inspired me. I went around town recording people. I even got one guy talking about the "persona" of his absent friend; that was really cool. Here's the entire album.

Oh, and please enjoy the many different takes: one sweater, two sweaters, no sweater / Halloween decorations/no Halloween decorations. I filmed this over a series of hours on Nov 1. during which I was taking them down. :)

* Feminism because I totally interpreted that from a handful of parts from the show, so I made a few comments on that. Actually I might write up a bit about that aspect, if that's all right.

I wouldn't call this a full-blown alternate version of my last video, more of a very slight adjustment. Per Matt and chariot13's suggestions, I did add some sound, though only Joe's welcome at the beginning. I tried clips from other segments, but they weren't fast enough and slowed down the pace of the movie. Plus, I liked the original feel, like you were almost fast-forwarding through the entire experience, and adding sound bits took away from that. I also swapped out more moon footage at the end for the gloam jack o' lantern, just because it's more of a unique hitRECord thing. They're minor differences, but I'm a big believer in listening to critique and trying anything once.

Shot on the Canon 7D

Starring Leah Myette, Directed by Ian Clay

Music by Jane Vain

This film is a loose narrative portraying the daily grind of a homeless girl. As you watch, in case you are as competitive as my fiance and I are, here are the spontaneous-in-the-field-shot-ideas:

Leah: graffiti walk, party store walk, toothbrush bit, razor wire, old-man-water-share, trolley.

Ian: Water fountain, sandwich-dumpster-find, overpass tracking shots, street-close-ups, bench-sleep-dolly, razor-wire-rack.

Leah doesn't think we should share the barbed wire, but it was my call for the rack focus:)

This film was shot, edited, and uploaded in one day.

A Story in Wishes

When I made the request for 11/11/11 wishes, I genuinely thought I would have a handful of responses to play around with in the short time I had available. To my utter delight, nearly 90 responses later, I have cut together what I hope is a fitting tribute to the words and wishes of a varied and talented group of HitREcorders.

In the end, the success was my downfall: I simply didn't have enough time to fully carry out the idea I had in the short space of time. But the more I edited the wish videos, the more I realised that in fact the videos speak for themselves: they speak of hope, courage, remembrance, sadness, fear, happiness, determination. My little collage, my little fingerprint in bringing you all together in a single picture became an after thought.

To everyone who contributed, my very deepest thanks. Your courage and inspiration were truly wonderful to work with.

My 11/11 wish is for this community to keep spreading it's wings, and to forever endeavour to create, achieve and inspire.

I hope that, even in some small measure, all your wishes come true <3

PS: on a lighter note, I hope no one is creeped out by my red stained hands [paint] and the fact that I have lots of your faces on a wall gathered round a bright red circle! <3

PPS: currently trying to resource LOTS of names, some of whom sent videos by email and I wasn't sure of their HitREcord name. If you sent me a video and don't see a resource, please let me know! I used every single one I received :D <3

People make films out of the stories that already exist. Let´s try the other way around. Help me make this footage in to a story.

Some of the footage is not of the best quality and some of the scenes are rely long, but I wanted to let you se the hole story and to give you as much freedom as possible to edit the footage to your own liking. I hope that someone will be inspired to do something cool out of this. For starters, the film desperately needs a soundtrack.

Naturally, you can pick it apart completely and use some smaller part you need for yore own stuff. Fore example there is footage of a snowcowerd park, a door that opens and a crowded street in Sweden.

Excuse the horrible spelling. I don´t usually write in englisch and I´m dyslectic.

Long story short: My roommate has 3 cats. (does that make me a cat lady by association??) She is in NY at an internship. When she left she kept her cats in the apt. with me because she couldn't take them. I promised her I would take care of them and shit...I made this video for her essentially (she loved the song when I played it for her, especially since it is her cat who purrs at the beginning) because it has all of her feline bffs in it. It needs some serious work...I was trying to use parts of the other I Have No Cats video but for whatever reason when I tried to download it it didn't work for me. Still a work in progress so...happy remixing!

Here is some raw footage I took today on a bike ride to the beach. I just felt like making my ride more dangerous by shooting an array of footage while riding. haha

Anyway, hopefully someone can use some of it for something: a poem, a music video, or maybe just something experimental.

Wanted to release this on 11/11/11 however it needed to be re-filmed and re-edited. The filming was done in silence. The anniversary is 11 years since I have danced. Anyone who wants to re-edit this is highly encouraged because my skills are lacking in that area.

A second cut of RegularJOE's live performance of "Patterns & Prayers" from the "Hit RECord on Halloween" show in New York City. This is the Low-Res version (at about 45% max quality.) Also, I have a slew of bullet point notes to accompany the new version (see below.)

EDITING NOTES:

* The walk to the podium introduction was changed quite a bit:

     - Incorporated a snippet of the organ from the original video to blend into the ambient soundtrack

     - Removed the rhythmic score elements of "Dreams of Another" and left the more moodier portions and blended them with the similar tones of "Circles of Latitude."

     - Re-cut some of the entry shots and did away with the "cut the music" moments altogether.

* The crowd audio was remixed quite a bit to reduce conversations during the podium intro.

* Corrected the grayscale on several shots throughout the performance segment. There's still one rogue shot that will probably need to be replaced, for it seems to stand out in graininess and brightness a bit.

* There is no longer any music during the monologue. Music returns during the bow at the end and rolls into the brief shot of the spotlight and the empty stage, and the credits.

* Added the paper rip sample from the end of the original video as the logo quickly fades at the end.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

* I liked RegularJOE's suggestion of adding the organ sample from the original version. While I did use it for a few seconds, the original audio includes background noise (footsteps, paper crinkling, etc.) so perhaps a composer could duplicate the organ note and upload it?

* The walk to the podium seems a bit hit-and-miss. In the first version I liked the rhythmic pieces of "Dreams of Another," for they were moody and dark, and I think they ccompanied the physicality of the walk. In this version there is primarily just ambience.

* Matbe we could get some composers to create some kind of brief score to coincide with the opening section leading up to the podium? Joe suggested this earlier, that any kind of music should probably be written specifically for the live performance.

* Regarding music in general, I personaly feel there needs to be some kind of bookended theme. Starting off dark and gloomy while ending with the piano notes (and a sense of optimism) are what I personally associate with the piece musically. It goes from dark to light, just as the text reminds us that what we send out from our hearts creates the world around us (that's how I interpret it at least.)

and finally...

* What do you guys think of v2? I'd love to hear what everyone's thoughts are on this and how we can make it better. :)

Hopefully an intro to a bigger piece regarding this movement.

What I eventually want to create is a video that demonstrates how the movement began in NY and grew to become a global movement. I do believe the events from last night in NY were an important turning point for the movement that’s why it is highlighted in the beginning, and also NY is where it all began, so it would make for a good intro to the movement and video as a whole.

The countries listed at the end are actually taken from here: http://www.occupytogether.org/actions/ where they list various places that the movement is taking place.

Still a work in progress, have a lot more footage to work with and need lots more records.

I'd been chewing over various Occupy Wall Street video ideas for a while in my head, but around the time Joe posted his footage and started the collab I'd settled on the idea of putting the modern visuals with old audio. Initially I was going to do a mashup of great speakers, but I ended up not liking that a) they were all old white dudes and b) it made the whole thing feel very disjointed. Eventually I settled on the LBJ Great Society Speech that he gave at the University of Michigan commencement in 1964. (It's public domain even though the site says it might not be - I called the LBJ Library to check, because I'm that paranoid. As the very nice Texan librarians told me, "all presidential speeches should be in the public domain, so y'all should be okay using them".)This is partially because it's a great, relevant speech, and partially because I really enjoyed telling everyone who wanted a description of what I was working on that I was "basically going to Lydon B. the crap out of their Johnson".

Har, har, I'm hilarious.

Anyway, as always, everything's a work in progress, leave comments and suggestions, blah blah blah, et cetera.

(Note: Archive.org has a great selection of footage from OWS, and I used quite a bit of it. If you're curious, check the resources, I'll be putting a text record with a list of all the videos I used and links to them.)

The third in a series of "I Am..." featuring historical figures representing words, ideas, or phrases. This one is of controversial anti-war activist Jerry Rubin.

Rubin was one of the "Chicago Seven" (or "Chicago Eight" if you include Bobby Seale of the Black Panthers, who stood trial separately as his own lawyer.) While I don't agree with everything Rubin stood for, the self-proclaimed "irrational" activist stood peace and freedom.

I drew upon those values for this video.

wirrow's "and a new earth" was also an inspiration for this particular entry, for I think it touches on some of the points of wirrow's spectacular piece, but in a much more condensed fashion. wirrow's "revolution" drawing also sparked some of the inspiration for this video as well.

I'm definitely going to continue with this series and see where it goes... Hopefully others will join in and browse archive.org for some archival public domain footage to continue on with this alternative series.

I wanted to try something just a little bit different for RossMc's "I Am..." collaboration. I chose to do it from the perspective of a word itself. In this case the word "equality."

It was really Nellhouse's song "Atardecer a Caballo" that inspired this RECord. I listened to the song again and I immediately thought of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. So i sought out some public domain footage, especially of the strike he led in which protester's carried "I Am a Man" signs, and edited this together.

The public domain footage is:

The fourth in the "I Am... (Historical Series)" centers on Dr. Timothy Leary. He represents change, and speaks very eloquently of change in the public domain footage I sampled. It was very difficult to cut and arrange this one because he said so many poignant things.

I particularly liked his discussions on the change in technology. It was as if he was actually alluding to the Internet, which came about decades after that interview.

There were also some parallels in this to wirrow's "and a new earth." I love what Dr. Leary said about "the screen" and who owns it. It was a very simple and effective moment.

I REsourced via's "me and tim leary" RECord as well. I'd be interested to hear some feedback. I hope that I was able to capture his spirit in this video. :)

This is the version of Morgan M. Morganson's Date with Destiny that screened at Sundance 2010. Throughout the festival, this is the one we'd show as our example. Whenever anybody asked, "what is hitRECord?" this was my answer: "Here, watch this short film we're making; you'll never believe who did it and how!"

Albert proposed an off-kilter writing exercise, and then Metaphorest's beautifully strange short story inspired it all. I read the story aloud, Jenyffer.Maria started drawing the characters, Tori animated Jen's drawings, Lula and I did a live-action rendition, Lawrie Brewster took the project to soaring heights with his gorgeous visuals, and along the way there was the help, encouragement and roughly 180 contributions from throughout our community. We brought it to Sundance, and Nathan coaxed the lush and vast music out of the newly coined hitRECorchestra. (Good_Girl_Indie has written out a fabulously detailed timeline documenting what happened and when along this RECord's progression.)

Not only did we close our (two) official hitRECord screening(s) in the New Frontier Microcinema with this piece, but the next day, Sundance added it as a short film to play before the award-winning feature HOMEWRECKER on a much bigger screen.

I actually watched the thing again just now. And I can whole-heartedly say that, besides the progressive methodology with which it was made, and besides the warm reception it received at Sundance, just purely as a little piece of art, as a short film, as a RECord -- I'm as proud of Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny as I am of any work I've ever done.

Thank you, everyone, for making it all happen!
and thanks again...

Hey guys, I've shot all the cabin scenes for Herringbone in a green screen studio. Hopefully this can be useful to help this collaboration get going again. I was hoping for people to get involved and make some art for the train cabin and add visual effects in to give it a mood. There's certain scenes missing, this is for hitrecord to decide what to do, personally, I'd love to see some animation of the protagonist where there's gaps.

(This version is ungraded for maximum flexibility in post.)

There is a second of bars at 3:01 -- this is just there to show that I've skipped past the part about "At faro in Denver..." just so people don't get confused by me dropping a good paragraph of writing.

That's pretty much it. Now get inspired!

::::::::

Update: Sadly, I lost a lot of my work on this due to a faulty drive. So mad, and so sad... So this is what it is, as-is, until I find time to return to it. I really loved where I was going with this piece, so I plan on returning to it eventually (maybe for my 500th Record?) In the meantime, anyone else is of course more than welcome to reMIX and/or continue it yourself!

:::::::::

So, this was my 100th RECord!  And I wanted it to be special, so I put a lot of work into a BIG animation idea to complete for it…

However, a couple snags in animating and execution = the full animation took a lot longer than I thought. Time is always the hottest variable with animating, so no big surprise here, but I do have a couple other items/RECords that I want to upload on hitRECord while I am completing this animation, so, my 100th RECord is just another sneak peek of my progress so far and “to be continued…” This low-res, so I am sorry for the grainy quality and the pacing chops here and there, just keep in mind that the full-quality piece is a lot smoother.

The animation idea spiraled-off of Mirtle’s “raindrops” illustration (recently Featured) as well as time I spent diving deeper into Mirtle’s impressive, and completely inspiring, collection of work. We all adore Mirtle’s Illustrations, which goes without saying, and I think what is so captivating about each illustration is that they are so damn delicate while being executed with such strength (and I hope my animation can echo that.) The pieces have this wondering doodle quality but unlike doodles - that seem almost lost – these illustrations decide to create their own map and their adventures just screamed at me to be animated.

I also have fallen in love with eaneikciv’s “Yes, We're Sinking” audio RECord, and it came to mind as I was swimming through Mirtle’s work. Hence, the concept was born. It just swallowed me up. I had to begin working on it.

Pheew! That was a lot of rambling, but I hope I am making sense. I hope you enjoy the animation so far. It will continue it, and will carry the lil’ raindrop girl through a few more Mirtle-inspired adventures/worlds.

This is an animation made from one of SFBakstad's timelapsed lily videos. Each frame was modified by a variety of hitRECorders & then mixed back into the sequence.

The video shows 4 different versions: full speed, slower, less than half speed (so you can see the individual frames more clearly) & then the full speed again for comparison.

The frames were modified by: rejjie, jelly bean, adhgraphicdesign, brookeduckart, moonbug & Duddelmaus! Thank you all for your contributions! :)

I thought of this idea when I shot the "waiting..." footage last night. Going through LizSmall's emotions collab inspired me to pull some of the footage from contributions there into making a commercial for the new Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Volume 1. The pprescott released her gorgeous footage and I decided to give it a rough edit tonight.

There are a few things I'd like to work on:

1. The voice over. I wrote this out really quickly, and I'm not 100% pleased with it. If someone could remix it, I'd love to hear their ideas. I'd like to keep the VO focused on emotions though, as that's the footage I want to use. The footage I select is tied very carefully to the VO, so that's something to keep in mind:

Are you worried about what to get your friends and family this holiday season? Bored by the same old presents every year? Frustrated by large crowds and long lines? Well put down that book and check this out! The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Volume One is here! Filled with page after page of impeccably illustrated, beautifully brief tales of happiness, sorrow and everything in between, the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. Available online or in stores at any of these fine retailers, you can get yours today and turn that holiday drear into holiday cheer!

2. More shots of the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Volume 1, in much the same way as pprescott has provided. I think it would also be great to get footage of people holding the TBOTS and being really happy about it.

3. More emotions, especially as they relate to the emotions in the VO. I'd like a variety of takes on them, but I'm leaning more toward "big" because I want to keep this sort of lighthearted and fun.

4. A good background music. Suggestions are welcomed.

So yeah, definitely open to any feedback/advice/help you're willing to give!

I try to use the more I could, ladies as gentlemen. Except two personal footages, everything is your works, I mixed films and animations. Very inspiring works. So thanks again and I hope you will like what i've done with it.

Some resources are missing. I Can't add them, i don't know why. Here there are: Mr green's "vision", Tori's "dream (slow jump)", LizSmalls's "and a new earth stoic", Crayfish's "coffee", Cacheth's "(animation) summer hobby", xobreexo's "nothing big". Tell me if I forget someone!!!

And please help, I am looking for the hitrecorder who took the B&Wpicture which illustrate my file. I can't refind who take this so nice photography...

I am going to have a daughter this summer and this afternoon I got my first real glimpse at her. It was an experience of immeasurable beauty and joy.

While it is one thing to see the whole body in its entirety, it was particularly amazing to watch the heart beat. The ultrasound camera is creates so many visual perspectives and sometimes you are viewing the exterior of the baby, and other times you are suddenly within the body, viewing the organs and the muscles.

I'll never forget one particular moment where the heart was the main focus on the screen. It's beating at around 142 bps and it looks so tiny, and yet it's so prominent. But what really struck me was the baby's whole body seemed to just be a glowing outline. In that series of moments it became clear to me that our bodies truly are just physical vessels.

Love.

All the talk about feminism and femininity lately and women's rights and what it is to be a woman ... got me thinking. I probably shot 3 different versions of this, and the putting it together was only indicitive of what it was after i shot it. As it is when you shoot/are in something. I did one take with full make up, and then another more masucline coloring. I often have played male roles, almost as many roles as I've played as a female. One side of my face looks more feminine the other half looks more masculine, as i've noticed from getting my picture taken for a job.

I think when we are young women we take on this more masculine role to protect ourselves, when we become mothers we soften, and experience our femininity in true form. I also think that in context with this song, this confusion amoung young women is a balance, it can confuse us and sadden us and leave us feeling all alone, lost in our gender.

The male and female voices in this song, work so beautifully together. I attempted to sing along to the man parts for the masucline version and the main part for the feminine version. thats why the mouth is all over the place.

I feel like its always a balance, with depression and with gender. We always have to figure out our own balance.

When i layed the two over one another, i really liked the dimension it created. So i took the task of key framing every other frame.. it was like.. finger breaking work.  Was thinking of uploading the raw files separated in a zip folder if requested. I'll do it if you ask or If I'm bored one day.

So i guess for now, i'm all about recording myself doing something on camera and cutting it to music and uploading it now.... its'cool. I'm cool with that.  its fun for me, and maybe you can use it.
