Audio and music I've found interesting, and remixable.
A solo track from our lead vocalist/songwriter Jason Webb
Illustrators Welcome......just saying!
http://jasonwebbmusic.blogspot.com
Traditionnal sound of Mongolia, recorded in Khovd
smweed very kindly thought of me when it came to her wonderful written piece "Summertime", and I was very keen to give it a remix! Turned out to be one of the most difficult remixes of my life! I tried so many different styles, so many different takes, songs, melodies...nothing I felt did justice to the feel of the piece. So in the end, I tried to leave it as raw as possible. One last take, added some Garageband loops of a bass to keep it real simple...and then added some effects of a smoky bar/jazz lounge. This is how I imagined this song being sung...
I just really hope I haven't over done it.
Woo, lengthy explanation.
smweed, thank you for such a wonderful piece of writing, I hope that this has done it some measure of justice..hopefully someone can remix it to make it sound a little less amateur?!
<3
as soon as i posted Beat 714 i began work on finding a lyrical/melodic idea that could work for it. i imagined something like a hip-hop/soul flow for it.
I searched through KamPaign's HitRECord Hip-Hop collection and found RayPerez's "Let's Finish This" RECord and put them together.
I really liked the lyric of there being "no borders between HitRECorders" so I made that the refrain.
I contacted and collaborated in correspondence with mr ray perez on creating new lyrics with this theme in mind.
in the meantime, I really liked what AboutGeorgia and Jay-9 contributed to the beat, and i added them into the mix.
somewhere along the line, i got inspired to write a rap verse and even took the mic for it on the RECording
(my first ever "rap" please don't judge me i'm just trying to laugh while my ass gets down)
now this ain't no final version. if you feel like adding some flow or singing to this, do it! let's get some more voices on this.
*coRegularJoeugh!*
'scuse me.
;)
a very very very big thanks to mr. ray perez for the awesome collaboration, and to aboutgeorgia and jay-9 for singing along :) <3
There ain't no borders between HitRECorders.
<3 RJ
*This is a STEREO RECording*
Just added some simple harmonies to the last three verses of Vickie's lovely song made from Rochelle's lovely words <3
I love the new words that Rochelle Boucher added to her Tiny Story! Sadly, my sweet little 3-year old daughter will need lots of practice before she can remember the words and sing along to this longer version, but she knows the 1st verse by heart now, she's even better than me! I'd still love to see a tiny film or animation come from this song or the tiny tune version if anyone feels up to it!
added some harmonica, maracas, and some cardboard box.
didn't care to adjust the tempo, just ran with Marke for this one :)
definitely going to mess around with this some more soon.
<3
I just saw Rochelle Boucher's Tiny Story and immediately decided to write another Tiny Tune with it. My daughter demanded to sit in my lap and sing along, and I thought it was just too adorable not to share. I'll be recording a regular version later today once my kids are asleep, and I'd love to see maybe a Tiny Film or Tiny Animation come from this!
Added vocals over 'Life is but a dream'...When Joe talked about combining the two RECords on the regularity #29, I thought I'd give this a shot!
This is a new mix of The Final Poem, sung beautifully by ChaneleyWelly, with strings performed by hamishramsay. This is an off-shoot of Life is But a Dream (Midnight Mix) seeing as it uses the same chord structure and piano. There are a lot of different things going on here than Life is But a Dream (most notably the absence of Row Your Boat . . . ) Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this new(ish) piece!
I love the combination in TongueCutSparrow's song between frantic punk mania and the seemingly sweet cuddly subject matter that gets a little dark. And I really love a bunch of people in different countries meowing together!
I had to add my own cat vox as well. Mostly I just trimmed it down in length (you know, GarageBand isn't a half bad audio editor for stuff like this) and rearranged some things, not to change it really, but just hoping to accentuate its virtues.
(Also, I'm gonna upload a ZIP of the uncompressed version of this file, plus stems of the song without my vocals, and my vocals isolated.)
Ok this has taken me the last few days and I'm finally happy with it.
This version has a slight alternate ending to Glitch's original because I tried and tried to recreate his ending but its just too crazy xD Kudos to Haus_of_glitch!
Hope you enjoy.
Just passed midnight here in New Orleans, so it was 30 years ago today, my mom started cleaning up my doo doos. Tonight we sang about it. Her first time using GarageBand! Can't think of a nicer way to celebrate. <3 And we'd both get a huge kick out of it if anybody remixed this in any way... c'mon you gotta, it's my birthday ^_^
I know how you hitRECorders like a project, and here's one should you fancy to get your hands on it. I wrote the lyrics like two years ago, found them a few months ago, but never have time to get a friend to record some guitar or whatever to go with it. Don't even know if the melody was my original one, but I like it reinvented or not. I imagine a pretty simple guitar riff (I cannot play unfortuneately), or even something else to spruce it up. So a plea to musicians, please bring this to life. I might even add to it with some homemade instruments. Here's the lyrics, in case they might be of use or just interest, and guitar interlude suggestions.
I was standing here, wondering why
I was standing here, wishing I could be
(Guitar)
I was wondering would you like to come out and play
I was wondering would you like to come out and smile
It’s a beautiful day, it always is
It always stays this way
(Guitar)
Quiet poundings, gnawing in my head
The rain will beat down, down, down, down
It's telling me don’t be a fool, take the ride
It’s what you always wanted, never safety in this lie
I was wondering would you like to hold me, I’ll fade
I was wondering would you like to take the course I’m done
It’s a beautiful mind set I have me in
It always stays the same
But the sights around me always complain
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhhh, ahhhh
I'll collect my pennies; I’ll buy you a new thing
Anything, just ask me
If we collect our pennies who can say, we didn’t try
(Guitar)
Well it's all wrapped up now, wishing we could stop
Give it up, you should get up get dressed this morning
(Guitar)
Ahhh...
Come and play with me,
Come and play with me.
Come with me
Come with me
I decided to try after all. Hope you guys like it<3
So this is something Pasiv and I have been working on - I sent him a vocal track that needed some magic, he provided said magic times a million and here is the result!
(Will upload separate vocals too)
I've got a letter in my head for you I'm sick and tired of playing dead for you I've gotta come back, I've gotta come back to life Turn the clocks back, turn the clocks back, I'm alright My lips are frozen and my hands are numb The cracks are showing but I'm playing dumb I've got jump off, I've gotta let go this lie Let the truth out, let the truth out or let it die
Here is my first stab at remixing Joe's performance at BFI. A big thanks to everyone that REcorded the performance.
Things have been difficult for me, lately....So I tried to put all my stress and fear into a song wich is a real challenge and that's what I came up with. Thanks again<3
Added some harmonies, hope they are alright! <3
non dimenticare
[don't forget]
non dimenticarmi
[don't forget me]
io troverò
[i will find]
un luogo dove
[a place where]
mi possa ricordare
[you can remember me]
Non perdermi
[don't lose me]
Non sbagliare
[don't make a mistake]
Non sono un foglio do carta che
[i'm not a piece of paper that]
Si può archiviare
[can be filed away]
Non ignorarmi
[don't ignore me]
Sto qui per amarti
[i'm here to love you]
Non sono come il vetro che
[i'm not like glass which]
Puo rompere come il cuore
[can break like a heart]
Non dimenticarmi
[don't forget me]
Sempre ricordare
[always remember]
Io troverò
[i will find]
Un luogo dove
[a place where]
Posso vivere per sempre
[i can live forever]
so i just signed up for hitREC yesterday & am still figuring out how this whole thing works, but i had fun putting this little ditty together. clearly i don't have much of a home recording set up. & posting this right after writing & recording it feels a little bit like jumping off a cliff, but that's a good thing right? thanks to gregoryjmrmr! and susan for the picture that says it all!
!-} / <3
A little beat I made for the loop collaboration. The last few bars have a couple of variations to mix it up.
Have at it! :)
Lyrics
Shake off your old suit
It never suited you
And come to my room
I will fashion you a new one
Make me a skin dress
I wear you the best
No I don’t like the cold
So come on and hold me
You be the tailor
I’ll be the seamstress
Wont’ you let down my hem again?
Bake me a fine cake
And describe how it tastes
So soft in my ear
So that only I can hear
I will satisfy you
With my own special stew
And the tenderest meat
That you have ever eaten
You be the baker
I’ll be the chef now
Feed me your sweetest offerings
Forge me a strong bow
So that my arrows might flow
Neatly into the flesh
Of our old discretion
And I will cast you a spell
To keep your tough hands well
So they might hold their place
In the space I like them best
You be the blacksmith
I’ll be the white witch
Let the townspeople curse our dark dealings
My first official Accordion Record! Written 1/11/11

...
i don't know where i've been
i can't recall if i'm wearing thin
i don't mind if i'm lost
i don't mind if i'm tired and frail and lost
i left a man in my wake
resented him for what he had to say
i don't mind that i'm alone
i don't mind that my heart, it carries stones
my heart, it carries stones
i told it all, unedited
i told it all like i remembered it
they interlocked and then they fled
and met again, but the love they'd made was dead
i am no historian
i'm prone to error in the records i give
i am proud of what i feel
i am proud that my skin is tempered steel
my skin is tempered steel
thanks to Lizzie for starting this, Todd for editing all these voices together, and to everybody who sang. <3
Just a silly little mix, my first attempt to put together some of the contributions to amferraro's collab (http://www.hitrecord.org/records/385782). It's pretty rough (especially the beginning, because the program I use did some horrible things with the quality when I tried to change the tempo, so I eventually gave up on it), but still, I'm hoping that after listening to it you won't think you just lost three minutes of your life... ;)
Any feedback will be very appreciated <3
Hello everyone! I am happy to present "Down on 42nd Street" to you. I hope you like it as much as I do.
Um, this is so pretty, I had to sing along (hope you don't mind wirrow :0) <3
ps I cited 'Cities' because wirrow did, though I do see the myself singing this song whilst whiling away hours/minutes in the city.
everything flows sweetly when you slow down
unwind all your tapes and dance to ghost sounds
i'm in another world, and you're breaking up
but i'll call you soon.. if i make it back
lava_tornado released a great rockin instrumental called Project 26. Then Babbish sung her sun baked and neon lit lyrics onto it. Here, I just added some backing vox.
Metaphorest beautiful poem put to music. The guitar, vocals, cello and shaker were done by myself and the other shaker and the drum was done by my brother Dougie Mackie aka Fameless. Producer: Dougie Mackie Recorded through a radio Mic I couldnt find a shaker around the house so I made one out of a medicine bottle, cocoa pops and sugar. The drum was a big cardboard tub with a plastic lid. haha. Seems really odd. If anyone wants to put a harmony on top you are more than welcome!
This is me singing along with Megan's beautiful piano cover of wirrow's 'the atom song'
first track on album 'spilt milk', but copyright shmoppyrights. right? rights.
and someone asked for the lyrics:
drag your feet, keep your life strapped to your shoulders.
if you don't carve your age into your belt, you wont get any older
it's a mixed up masquerade, a penniless arcade
every face a frown, oh what a crazy town
hang your head, they'll steal the toes right off of your feet
you're lucky to count all ten, when you're living on the street
its a story thats been told, a body thats been sold
'round and around and around. oh what a crazy town
(see) joy around here comes in a little pink balloon
and if you got out of here yesterday it wouldn't be too soon
it's a cardboard palisade, a pocket change brigade
every way is down. oh what a crazy town
I'd like to point out this whole undertaking has only gone ahead with the approval and support of Rainey [themetafictionist]!
DianeFT asked me if I would sing a long to Blake Fischers "Ukelele=Happiness" to the tune of the ditty I wrote called "The Girl Who Looks Exactly Like Me"..but use her lyrical adaptation of TheMetafictionist's story.
So, here it is! I hope it's OK <3
For some time now he 's been stalking me
I hurry to get home cos he won’t let me be
I run up my steps and what do I see?
A brown bag that I open carefully
Ooooh Oh Oh!
It’s a blue dildo
I sneak in with the package in tow
How will I explain this to my bro?
It’s a blue dildo.
I’ve got the package safely hidden
What an obscene gift to be given
Despite my terror and horrific offence
I have to save it as evidence
Ooooh Oh Oh...
It’s a blue dildo
I sneak in with the package in tow
How will I explain this to my bro?
It’s a blue dildo.
It’s time for me to open up and put my shame aside
I’ve done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide
It’s time to ask for help, in my mom I will confide
She hugs me and we laugh, as we both feel a vibe
In walks my bro, who’s not that dence?
“What is that” he asks. Unsure I exclaim:
“It’s evidence!”
Second track off of 'Spilt Milk'. Have at it!
lyrics:
Nothing like a good ol' beating
to make a proper fool out of me
I've taken a torch to everything i own
and shamed my family.
I keep a will in my back pocket.
Another one is tucked in my boot.
And if you're lucky enough to see me coming,
don't hesitate before you shoot.
But I'm gonna go to church on sunday.
Make a proper fool out of me.
Lord, let me make it to sunday.
To wash all of my sins clean.
I'm gonna disappear in the evening.
Take flight before the sun bleeds.
And don't ask the sky for no reason,
or shake me down by my trail of rosary beads.
There's nothing you can pray I aint prayed for
nothing you can say I aint heard
no morning I don't wake up shaking
God damn I hate that mocking bird.
But I'm gonna go to church on Sunday
-make a proper fool out of me.
Lord, let me make it to Sunday
to wash all of my sins clean.
maybe i'm doing too many of these songs....but i really really loved this tiny story...so here is another tiny tune...
Ok, this is perhaps one of my wierder records ;D
I was playing around, trying to write a tune for hitrecord and realised the melody I had made was very similar to the MMM themetune, so I randomly made this. Dunno exactly what it could be used for, but hey, enjoy ;D
A short little ditty I just made up, sorry for the bits of distortion.
Lyrics:
"Don't fall for his "romance",
Can you see his words?
Don't shake if you don't wanna dance,
Can you see his words?
(ahhhhhhhh,)
Don't be silent if you've got a voice,
Can you sing your words?
Don't jump if you don't wanna fall,
Are you free from earth?
(ahhhhhhhh,)"
I took a walk that was very inspiring and I played this right after. Again by heart<3
I know I'm late... but I just like discovered Joe's song "Words We're Wailing", watching the videos from the last shows. Poignant.
Either way, I hadn't originally intended to put vocals at the beginning of this. But after one too many frustrating takes, I just ended singing to calm down. And I decided to keep it with the piano rendition that followed. Enjoy the arrangment.
Downtown 81 featuring Jess Larrabee from She Keeps Bees
as per Syoh's suggestion of using this song with the HitRECordettes idea, I made this little REmix of Ally's swingin' take on Metaphorest's lyrics/song
even gave it a little kuzoo intro for kicks ^_^
Happy REmixing!
<3
RJ
A quick, recorded chord pattern in Eminor. I'm gunna make a few of these, can some peeps add lyrics and new instrumental parts?
reboot computer = fix quality
i've been working on n off with this idea since mid-July. finally got some things on it to where i'm comfortable uploading it as a REmix RECord, but still trying to figure the fucker out.
anyhoo. i had some production fun here.
found a nice little panning-distortion effect for the original bass, which set everything into motion, and everything else (besides Pammy's voice, of course) is my contribution.
this is what i have so far.
if you got any opinion/critique about it, i wanna hear it.
if it sucks, tell me why, and i'll make it better.
if you think you can make it better, my sounds are yours to improve upon.
Happy REmixing
and thank you Pam <3

*This is a STEREO RECording*
shhh be nice i've never written a song before
I've been working on this song for almost a year. I finally finished the second verse. I'm really proud of some of these lyrics. The lyrics are resourced below in case you wanted to remix this at all. :)
Liking the idea of rhythms made through unconventional means, thought I'd remix some records together to one of Metaphorest's magnificent songs. 120 bpm.
A friend needed something quirky for a short of his. This is what came out.
(literally handmade;))
Clapping hands, snapping fingers, a few regular hits on the chest and the thighs - here goes my tiny contribution to The Um Song :)
Okay, here's two cues for the Blue Dildo collab per request of the Regularity himself. Hopefully this works.
Ummm, just a few notes: this is mean to spliced, for the love letter, animation/dildo reveal, and it could also work for the stalker in the house... the very last rock out was added just because :) (End credits maybe).... enjoy!
Shout out to chigwinkle, though not inlcuded in the track, the love cue was scored to first take of his voice overs.
I'm defintely open to adjusting this... for visuals or whatever. I'm too happy with the mix, but my ears are rocked out so... LOL... this'll do for the now. Call it the first draft.
this REmix uses the vocal and drums from Metaphorest's original RECord.
experimented with different variations before settling on this one.
REmix production, arrangement, Synthesizer, 808 programming, Guitar: meeeeeeeeeeee
Hope you enjoy, and happy REmixing
<3
RJ
and many thanks to Sarah for making such a wonderful and REmixable song (and the stems too!) <3
Written on a Nintendo Game Boy.
recording of flowers in winter :)
I really loved "Slow Like A Bunny" by Metaphorest and Megan Carnes, and I thought that Ozie's wonderfully wonderful piece was more than suitable for a similar remix. But hey, I don't have Metaphorest's voice. So I reaaally did my best, and I hope you'll like how I revisited this hitRECord classic ! :)
Oh, and I was thinking that some strings, like a cello (!!!) or a violin would fit perfectly with this. But if you play triangle and you want to make a contribution, please do !
LYRICS:
let's play pretend
until the end,
whenever that will be.
we'll dress in gowns
and dance around
and jump into the sea.
we'll float and fly
straight through the sky
in our hot air balloon,
and then we'll race
to outer space
and steal ourselves the moon.
let's make believe
and never leave
our own fantasy land.
we'll sing love songs
forever long,
now wouldn't that be grand?
and even though
inside we'll know
nothing is as it seems,
as long as we're
together here,
who needs reality?
sang my lyrics over wirrow/gwen's amazing song. um... i hope this isn't terrible. <3 be sure to check out metaphorest's song for these lyrics (resourced) - it's the cheerful version. this is the melancholy version...
i took some liberties with the structure of this one... hope you like! :D
gwen's loop of lala's and breathing is the most amazing record ive heard on this website. i'll definitely be making more things out of this.
the title is my nod to the wonderful sparklehorse. "it's a sad and beautiful life" r.i.p
we can be star-ways upside down-ways any way you like
we see moons n suns where others see the city lights
i know you like the fear, ive seen your eyes light up
when theres a human sacrifice
i know you like to panic and ring the alarms
but we are superloving creatures and we mean you no harm
you're never alone you know
it's a wonderful life
Sara asked me to contribute - how could i not ;)
the melody is mirrored and so is the arrangement.
ps: 70ies spymovie reference is semi-intentional. it kinda evolved into this.
pps: yes dystopian - i am putting an end to this silly dissonance in: utopian and dystopic. now it is utopian and dystopian or utopic and dystopic whichever you prefer.
a not-so-tiny tune for wirrow.
thanks to megan's beautiful piano additions and rob's absolutely spot-on mixing, this song has finally come to life after about a month of hard work. this is by far the hardest i've ever worked on a song, and i hope you all enjoy it.
i truly love this community, and i love the friends i have made from it. this song encapsulates how i feel about life, hitRECord, just...everything.
so anyway - thanks, everybody.
Best listened to through headphones.
thanks for listening!
First thing that came to mind...such beautiful words and beautiful music.
I know the melody isn't very exciting..but I thought I would let the piano and the words take centre stage ^__^
<3
Song written by Jacquelyn Wells. vocals and piano-jacquelyn wells
Introduction for the fall formal if one is needed :) Also a little suprise from the Hitrecordettes (just me) afterwards xD
I don't know what to say about htis one. I don't really know how to write music that well but I think I may have stumbled onto something cool with this one. Or maybe it's horrible and this will get deleted off the site.
It could use some vocals. Also it could use a good mix down. If anyone wants the stems for remixing just let me know and I'll put them up.
The song consists of ukulele, toy piano, xylaphone, harmonica and an acoustic guitar used as a bass.
I wrote it with headphones, so you should listen to it with headphones ;)
EDIT: There are a lot of awesome REmixes that take this song to a whole other level, go check them out!
I loved wirrow's "things" tiny story and illustration, so I used it to write another tiny tune. I would love love LOVE to have this remixed, harmonies, instruments (especially where the vocals have just ended) oohs and ahhs, background noises, whatever you feel like doing. If anyone's interested, I could try to get a better recording without so much background noise. And stems. Just lemme know :)
CHORDS are G and B Minor
I made this around 2-3 months ago. While composing this, I had a story of a soldier in my head who just saw his family get killed in front of him, and now their memories are keeping him from fighting for whatever his cause is, but at the end he decides to use these memories to make him stronger rather than drain the life out of him.
I can remove the acoustic guitar lead form this in case you want to add your own (can be any instrument which you think suits here), I'd love that actually! But as I just joined and this is my first ever RECord, I'm confused how do I upload that version here? Do I put it up as a new RECord? Let me know in the remarks please.
after having a quick little listen or two, this is what i heard in my head.
and since i'm without my guitar tonight, i used my synthesizers instead.
~hehe, that rhymed~
<3
Beautifully sung by eaneikciv! And Robo J's REmix just put me in this state that these instruments started playing in my head, so I quickly arranged and sequenced them before i forgot the melody.
Trying to build on the other masterpieces, I added a guitar track and two synthesized french horns to add to the lushness of the orchestra.
And now for something completely different... :P
Lyrics
I’m putty in your hands
Putty that sticks in your pocket
Cos you forgot it
I’m a ragdoll waiting to be tucked in by your side
Wouldn’t it to be nice to go outside?
Wouldn’t it if be nice if I didn’t have to hide in your basement?
In your basement
You got me in a living trance in this flawed romance
Although my brain says no well my mouth says oh oh oh
I’ll be your doll if you want it
Love you all night long if you want it
I’m begging you, baby please don’t deflate me I’m a little superficial but please don’t hate me
I’m your polythene honey
I’m a lover dropped off by the mailman
On sale, man
I’m your permanent partner, my heart will never degrade
Wouldn’t it be nice to go outside?
Wouldn’t it be nice if I didn’t have to hide in your basement?
In your basement
You got me in a living trance in this flawed romance
Although my brain says no well my mouth says oh oh oh
I’ll be your doll if you want it
Love you all night long if you want it
I’m begging you, baby please don’t deflate me
I’m a little superficial but please don’t hate me
Oh oh oh
Continuing my journey through unchartered musical territories...
This sort of happened by accident..when you've got one thing playing on iTunes and one thing playing in a browser.
So yeah, decided to play with it..me rapping is hilarious but oh well! ^__^

A song about a one-sided chipmunk relationship. Trying something...err...different!
(Ps. I can upload the non-chipmunk version too if anyone wants!)
Today he wore purple, my favourite shade
And that was my favourite song that he played
I know that he winked at me when he walked by
Although you say it was just dirt in his eye
His friend's sister's boyfriend said my hair was lovely
And that's how I know that he loves me
We're like Romeo and Juliet
And just cos he doesn't know my name yet
Doesn't mean that we're not meant to be
It's so easy to see that he loves me
He wrote me a letter, anonymously
Put it on the internet for all to see
He's so understanding, he knows that I'm shy
You ask why he left out my name – well that's why
He likes to be cryptic, so he writes me stories
And that's how I know he adores me
You gotta look between the lines
He'ssending me love letters all of the time
If you just read the seventh word in every tweet
You'll see that he's swept off his feet
He could call if he wanted, but phones are passe
And, anyway, he talks to me every day
In our own secret code only we understand
Us modern day lovers don't need to hold hands
See he threw a big party and I was invited
So I know that my love's requited
Wanna dance like all the cool kids that are too cool to dance? Listen to this song then.
a remix of my favorite song in the whole wide universe. :]
i used to fly with peter pan in videoland and i saw people coming out from underground. gather up you silent searchers and lets go loudly into quiet churches lets surround the walls of guarded buildings and make our sound. lets invade palaces, they are always around when we sing out their anthems but not when we drown in video lala
It's rough, but I hope you like it and that someone can make it into some kind of video!
Any animators out there - hope this can add something to one of your creations :)

Here are a couple of takes for the Fall Formal intro video.
Just a possible audio track for the Fall Formal intro I cut together after looking through all the great submissions to the collab and watching Tori's v1 cut. I want to try to remix my own intro video with this audio, but I may not have the time. So I figured I'd put it up here and see if anyone else wanted to cut something to it.
Have at it editing gurus! :)
Reading of Kate's Robot/Fall Formal script combining Kates audio with mine.
Anyone want to animate this? :)
It took me almost 8 hours to write two minutes worth of music....
Just a little something I put together that compiled a lot of the VO's being RECorded, inspired by the Hit RECord at the Movies intro! Thought a little old school record player style would suit the intro nicely.
This is a step up from my earlier mix in terms of clarity, balance, and drive. I added an additional drum kit in the climax to push the beat, and various EQ, pan and mix tweaks. I have created stereo audio tracks for each of the parts and put them in a zip file which I will attach to this record. FYI, I figure I have 16-20 hours into this project. I look forward to hearing what you think.
Hope Mr. Shallow likes it.. Song lyrics are about someone else entirely so pay no mind. :)
oh josephine
open the shutters
and throw on some clothes
we're getting clean
we're driving and driving
away from the places we know
oh josephine
don't look so somber
we've almost arrived there
and you'll ask me
how did we stay so
long in that place that we
your poor heartbeat
it looks awful tired
i watched as its fire went out
don't fall asleep
concussions like these
are liable to lead you aground
Dulce Bellum Inexpertis
Thought it might be fun for everyone to edit the Fall Formal Intro to this here drum beat.
It's been a while since I've written a song with just piano, so it's about that time. This piece makes me think of a Jane Austen novel, which is where it got it's name.
Very film-y. Definitely think some cool images could be put to this, as well as some guitar or percussion or whateva
ah, so lovely :) public domain references: http://www.archive.org/details/EDIS-SRP-0196-05

I love the idea of doing a cover collab! This one of my favorite hitrecord songs and I wanted to give it a kind of folksy, singer-songwriter treatment. I also transcribed the lyrics by ear, not realizing that sparrow did them in the original record so I got a few of them wrong. Oopsie.
I love the Idea of a song that would sound the same played backwards or forwards.
Sorry Its been so long.
This is one of the first songs I wrote for my band "French Films About Trains". My favourite feedback was that the listener "felt scolded". :) Have at it folks! xo
i love TCS's little vocoder RECord. Slowed it down a little. Cut & Pasted. added the main vocal from eaneikciv's tiny tune, to fill the space.
there's plenty of space to have fun with. follow the groove.
REmix production, drum programming, bass: meeeeeeeeeeeeee
Happy REmixing!

A song I wrote about intimate experiences.. Hahaha
Update: I'm rreallly not sure if this is a Public Domain melody...can anyone help me out!?
A Maori lullaby written in 1907 by Princess Te Rangi Pai. I have long been fascinated by the Maori culture and language, and this is one of my favourite songs...so beautiful.
It was published in 1907, which, from my understanding means it is in the Public Domain...if it's not, humblest apologies and I will take this to the Deletion Collab without further ado.
Anyway, this is Monday Night Lullaby...goodnight! <3
Ps I really hope I haven't massacred the pronounciation!
E tangi ana koe
[You are weeping]
Hine e hine
[Little girl, darling girl]
E ngenge ana koe
[You are weary]
Hine e hine
[Little girl, darling girl]
Kati tö pouri rä
[Be sad no longer]
Noho i te aroha
[There is love for you]
Te ngäkau o te Matua
[In the heart of the father]
Hine e hine
[Little Girl, darling Girl]

My first attempt at performing 'Alphabet'. Let me know. ps Thanks to MattConley for pointing it out in the first place.
After a little hitRECord tinychat….the lovely pamagotchi got me inspired to start singing again on HitRECord (can’t remember the last time I did) soo here’s me having fun.
P.S. I sound like an old ladyy bahaha<3
Nonsense is truth is nonsense is truth is nonsense is truth is nonsense is
I wrote this very early this morning before the sun began to rise 11/14/11. The sound effects I added were for visual purposes. It made me imagine alien ships taking off, and going back home after a visit.
toyed around with PASIV's beautiful tune. watch the video here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/388721
Did this one last night. This made me think of marching elephants in a dream.
and throw away the clocks
Had a go at improvising a song whilst listening to Ozie's "Lost Objects" piano score.
Some very chilled out jazzy bluesy tunes before bed time <3
Improvised Lyrics are as follows:
A star shining above me
Is no different to the light
That I see in your eyes
All my life I've been wishing
On that star
For someone
Like
You.
I recorded a very rough cut of my song "The Buzz" today...blah I still don't know how to mix blah I don't really care it makes me happy to sing songs into a crazy little box and put all the different parts together. Anyone who wants to cover/add harmony/drums/dub..let me know and I can send you the expanded audactiy file...or just the vocals or whatever you like. And Cam, I'm referencing your portrait because I test-drove this one on you and amped up the breakdown with you in mind, mon petit blondie.
----------------
And I’ve been here nineteen years, three months, seventeen days and an hour or so; I still don’t know my right from left and I forget things.
But when I’m crowded and lost and young and the notes bleed together like salt on my tongue I choke, I give up hope, and I find you.
You fold me up like a cardboard box- you turn the key and you check the locks and we play and write and we sing and holler (the only boy father will trust with his daughter_- I’m repaired again, safe on your side of the Hudson.
You tell me "everything you write is wrong," but then you raise your voice and you sing along. You said to "write what I know" so I wrote this song.
They’re saying “we think you’re in love with him," but I’m not in love and I’ve never been and least of all with you. I’ve seen what you’ve grown into.
And I am back on the streets of my island. I think of this new mess that I’m in and I resist the urge to call because you’re always running...
And I think of the other boys- what do I do? They’re never you (but sometimes they have your eyes) and I haven’t heard from you in months when like magic or fate you’re a buzz in my box!
And I put you together far worse to dissever like glue. That’s my only way of loving you.
...he raised his voice and he sang along and our lips moved together with words that I wrote....
They’re saying “we think you’re in love with him" and I’m starting to think they’re right.
"Everything you write is wrong," but then you raise your voice and you sing along. You said to write what I know so I wrote this song.
They’re saying “we think you’re in love with him," but I’m not in love and I’ve never been but I can change that....
this was made by me a while back while watching the news of the riots in England (6-10 August)
Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drums by meeeeeeeeeeeee
with the exception of the drums, bass, and piano, all the sounds you hear on this were created with my guitar. i would create sounds using my pedal board (Boss Slicer and Whammy being the most prominently used pedals), and pick the best little bits from the liter, then loop them via Ableton.
The drums you hear were all artifical/MIDI, created, programmed and modified by me via Ableton.
I've always loved the fun challenge of making the real instruments sound artificial, and the artificial instruments sound real.
Always try to think outside the box.
Happy REmixing

Halfway through this I kind of thought that there's a lot of awesome footage for topics like freedom of speech, the role of media, police brutality and so on... but I decided to stick with my first thought - to make this a positive little summary of this movement.
Hope you enjoy.
Music for short/tiny films. Sounds kind of sad. Piano, strings, and harp. Enjoy.
A song for my friend Sherbethead. Mostly just a test for him. Enjoy
Lyrics at the request of Barush :)
You see me here, why you why you pass me by
Eyes glide to the side, looking petrified
Like I'm petty, you pretty girls are so pathetic
Showing no empathy epidotic automatons
On automatic cold hearted
It's like you want to stay departed
Are you leo, its as clear as your ego
Self absorbed like sponges if they were emo
Atleast they emote remotely with some cutters
cutting up more than the kids in South Park excuse the knife Butters
She turned around; my heart fluttered
My hands tensed up and her mouth mutters
Like a mumblecore film, all duplass
Our time together is over, no mas
Like truth you ruined christmas
But she'll never know what she likes if she keeps walking by
If she keeps walking by
Letting vanity rule her life x2
No amount of drugs could fix you like Coldplay
Playing coy could destroy your mental for heaven sakes
I put stakes in my claim like gamblers
you lose fortune and fame no cameras
I gave you everything; you took what you want
Taking adderall to add up all the pills you on
Just concentrate see things clearly
Get some visine
You'll never be the same if you left me
You were right to miss me like married
Put my heart on the sleeves you carried
Your love seperately like toys and battery
Always charged for being too nice... the nicest
Gave you advice to handle all your vices
It's too late though, lost flattery
Ironically her name is Mallory
She was stuck up like middle finger
F U, See the decay dead linger
Thats your soul
How you feel empty in a nutshell
I've said plenty x2
I really enjoyed this song and what everyone has done with it so far. I wanted to contribute some drums into the mix so here you go. I'll also upload the stem for the drums for people to play with.
added violin, piano, and mandolin! :D i hope lots of people sing over this
Altered
There's a welcome party held under ground
For the salty girl from our sugar town
She's the chosen queen
Of our little scene
And she's back after the operation
All the girls and boys
Out there making noise
Came to show her a sweet time / Are in awe of the alteration
So very sugary now
We’re gonna make her feel secured (Can't shake off that sensation)
Protected, safe and re-assured (This feeling of sedation)
We've finally had her fully cured (Lack of orientation)
So sweet, from head to tit to feet (Can't shake off that sensation)
So holy, so right, so complete (She's lost in their translation)
So sweet, She's soon to have a fit (Succumb to desperation)
So very sugary now
She's the chosen queen
Of our little scene
And she's back after the operation
All the girls and boys
Out there making noise
Are in awe of the alteration
She's out on a limb
It's a broken dream
Caught in a chemical reaction
Now it all looks grim
And her lights are dim
Can't shake it off, shake shake it off OFF
MattConley kindly suggested I challenge myself and try out some different voice characterizations when I do a VO for HR, rather than just recording one version. Anyway, there's so much amazing stuff going on with the Shadows project already, but I thought I'd just jump in anyway. So, this is just the first paragraph of the Prologue, read in ten different ways, each one a bit weirder than the last. Would love to hear back, especially from Attilee and Soupy, if any of these are remotely useful! Here goes:
1. Low, restrained, medium pace, 'normal'.
2. Slightly faster, less low, and more expressive.
3. Upbeat; slightly singsong. Faster, higher.
4. Expressive, fastest. Wide-eyed: kids' book/movie.
5. Low and slow like a wise wizard.
6. Slightly crazy professor.
7. Haunted vicar.
8. Wild-eyed gardener. (With apologies to everybody, from Plymouth to Poplar.)
9. Deranged schoolmaster.
10. Nasal ninny. (Best avoided altogether.)
Hey HITRECORD! Here is version 1 of the collage song that I made with all of your great audio tracks. It's pretty atmospheric with plenty of room for vocals - so VOCALISTS, RAPPERS, SPOKEN WORD ARTISTS, please add your creative skills!
There are about 30 to 40 pieces of audio in here and I will be resourcing them all shortly.
Thank you so much for having me remix your killer tracks and thanks especially to everyone for such great recommendations on which ones to use!
Deeply personal, very specifically written for someone.
with AH's. =)

I need to start RECording again. I WANT to start RECording again. Lets work together. |

Short guitar piece I improvised a while ago. Hope someone finds a use for this!
I wanted to Record myself ACTUALLY playing MY drums...but alas i could not book a studio in time...so what i present to you here(produced in Ableton Live) MY ACTUAL drums sampled/programmed in the verses and a loop of my ACTUAL drumming in the Chorus , i programmed the fills and reverse crashes and what not ...hope you like it.
Much respect to all others involed on this track and all songs on hitrecord.org
- Dubwizenheimer
I went trough the contributions and mixed them into this, just for fun :) I fell in looove with all the accordion tracks people have uploaded!! (most of the stuff starts after the first chorus-thing so if you're impatient and busy, start from 1.10! :))
I would have wanted to add some more stuff from here and there, but since everyone haven't uploaded the stems of their contributions yet, I couldn't...
Like you can hear I dropped out the 3rd bridge/chorus thing, firstly 'cause I forgot I made it in the first place, and secondly 'cause I think it might be too much... but this is still in process! :) I got this idea for the ending from Robo_J's rough mix.
Please, let me know what you think! Do you think we should add more vocals or drop some accordions or percussion or something else? I thought about this song for a while and I personally think it would suite the song better if we'd keep it as fresh and "poppy" as possible. Because of the melody and the "i-don't-give-a-shit" -way it has to be sung, it's really easy that the song might lose it's energy and start sounding lazy or "angsty". But again, that's only my opinion, let me know yours! And as always, feel free to remix this! :)
Thanks <3
