Pictures of graphics, illustrations and artwork of any kind that I found interesting and remixable.
Mmkay so at the request of featherpetal and CreatiffMotiff - here we are! Base image to my illustration for The Tiniest Story. I adjusted the colorization a bit so it'd be a little brighter and what have you. Andf I just now noticed that for some reason it pixelated a bit because of that so I'm super sorry! But here you are - enjoy playing with her!
...that sounded dirty. Totally wasn't meant to - heh.
This has been an idea tootle-ing around in my head for a while. I wanted to create an alphabet of light painted letters.
Btw. I put this together in humble old Word, (due to lack of photoshop) so forgive any inconsistencies/uglyness pleasies :)
I've put all the photographs/letters/numbers/symbols I took in an album for recorders to remix. You know you want to: http://hitrecord.org/records/379519
The world of tiny stories pattern background. This pattern is seamless and you can tile it to make even bigger pattern.
*********
Just something to sum up our work with tiny stories. :). If I left out your work on the resources, please let me know.
Do check out how this pattern can be applied on a book cover - http://hitrecord.org/records/456624
"Her heart was lighter in the shine of the stars. She released the balloon into the darkness, from whence it came".
That is my line up above but feel free to add your own or help me make this picture better! I drew this with colored pencils and I had no idea what I was doing because I usually paint, actually. I am forced to abandon painting for the time being. Eventually, I will do some paintings when I can and post those too. But I think it turned out ok ...
Story behind the picture I drew: Yesterday, someone told me to not "get my hopes up". I am sick of hearing this from people. My Doctor told me the same thing just last week. Just not in those exact words ... Well, I am not faulting him because he was telling the truth. But someone told me not to get my hopes up on my dreams. And that is just a no no ... This is my response to all those nay sayers out there.
a.k.a The Story of How I Accidentally Poisoned My Cat With Chocolate and Love, But Mostly Chocolate
In memory of Pickles Sarmiento y Escober, who died a bonafide chocolate lover despite its dangers to his species. I honor you whenever I eat chocolate, you are sorely missed.
P.S. This happened when I was very young. The scene of the crime was my study area, where we often shared those moments of chocolate-y bliss ;_;
A pencil sketch of Destiny from the MMM2 short film and a part of something bigger I have in mind of doing in the near future
First of all, I'm so sorry Lula! I FAILED so bad at drawing you! *head desk*
It has been some zillion years since I last drew with pencil on paper (I actually had to pop into an artist's supplies shop on my way home from work to buy a new set of drawing pencils because I couldn't find my old ones), and the fact that the only portrait I could draw that would actually resemble the subject is my own (I swear I'm not a narcissist) have made this a rather challenging piece to do...
Hopefully the next few pieces I wanted to do will be easier >_< *fingers crossed*
"Urth replied, "forgive me love
our playtime here was bliss
our hugging time was harmony
and though it will be missed
the mystery of what we are
is more than i can stand
but through my stories said and set
will i learn who i am.
i must let go and join my tales
and with this merging seal
a sacrifice so soon forgot
will make the stories real." "
''Soll ich dir was vorlesen?'' is german and could mean something like ''Do you want me to read a tale to you?'' in english. It's the foxy fox and the little bunny merlin. This is the first good piece i've done for many weeks so I want to thank hitrecord because somehow you pushed my motivation and creativity :3
~ download please for fullview <3
Okay, so the story behind this picture is actually quite funny. I was sat on the loo texting my friends my new number, I had just got a new phone so I was experimenting. I admit I was on the loo for quite some time and decided to take a picture and try one of the effects, and this is the result: the toilet door! Haha
Enjoy
:)
8.5x11 sheet. Be sure to chop them up so you have room to write your name on them! The plates are all the same size, so it shouldn't be hard to do that. Rubber cement or some other suitable adhesive will stick these in your books! The ones you want people to give back to you, anyway. ;)
These are really basic. Please play with them if you want to spruce them up.
I RECommend using the logos according to your books - e.g., coffee table photography books should get the image logo, dictionaries and such should get the reference logo...
Cornelius the cat was an eccentric fellow,
Dressed in all the colours from blue to yellow,
With patterns never seen on a feline before,
Clothes colourful and brash, he did so adore!
He was shunned by his peers for his curious dress,
And even his family thought his style was a mess,
For his taste in loud colours went beyond what he wore,
Bold colours could be seen on his walls and his floor.
No visitors came calling, or rang on the phone,
So Cornelius spent most of his time all alone,
“I won’t change who I am for anyone ” he said,
As he played with a ball of bright orange thread.
He did have one cousin who’s taste was the same,
Cornelius kept his portrait in a colourful frame,
But his cousin would hide his penchant for loud colours,
Dressing plainly in public to be just like the others.
While Cornelius could envy his cousin at times,
Getting phone calls and visitors would be so sublime!
But changing who he was simply to get along,
Going against his true nature just seemed so wrong.
For Cornelius the cat enjoyed being unique,
Looking like everyone else wasn’t such a feat,
For what was so special about all being the same?
Cornelius thought not standing out was a shame.
So Cornelius will stay in his colourful home,
Without any visitors or calls on the phone,
And wear colours with patterns that are both bold and brash,
And continue to be different from all other cats!
You know how you see all those character posters/banners at cinemas promoting upcoming movies? Here is my take on a MMM2 version of those, inspired by the poster of "Horrible Bosses" ...and I just want an excuse to slap those fantastic words from the MMM universe onto the drawings
The drawings were actually done for another purpose, but one day when I was walking home I saw a double decker bus with the "Horrible Bosses" banner on it and I just thought it would be fun to have something similar for the MMM flims~
I uploaded a different version of this awhile ago, but this one is a little clearer. Does anyone have any tips for capturing pencil drawings? My attempts to scan have been less than optimal and my camera, which is my usual method of making the digital image, has trouble with the fine bits. Any advice would be gratefully accepted!
Immediately upon seeing wirrow's gorgeous “mountain tops are lifting,” I couldn't get the idea of doing it in stained glass out of my mind (I also thought it could be cool as a quilt... anyone want to take that one on?). Anyways, I most desperately wanted it hanging in my window. And now it does:) And I only bled a very little bit in the process (glass, as one might expect, is rather sharp (as are the edges of the copper foil tape, which was more of a surprize)).
Making of video coming soon! is here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/494472
A tribute to the hitrecord fantastic four: Jared, Jo, Marke & Dr. Gory.
I have work on it like Julian Opie for the Blur crew portraits
I'm feel really sorry for El Doctor, my drawing is really awfull but i was unable to find a proper picture of him!! His always behind a camera or in the shadow or in a strange face-profile position.
So i want to start now a hunt, with the help of all recorders, to get a good picture of him.
This was going to be something relating to a certain Tiny Story about Long Distance Relationships... But it's taking a while and I'm get frustrated and really eager to post again, so I'll post where I'm at... I actually kinda like it like this :) I'll finish it later.
Made in Photoshop using scans of Paperchase paper, my own photographs of buttons and RoadieGirl34's photo "Chicago Time"
been inspired by some really awesome paper cut out designs i've seen lately. so i tried putting similar paper cut outish type things together and then it started turning into a fall formal scene. in the end i think it's a little bit boring for a poster but maybe someone can make sthng else out of it.
irrelevant question : do you like artists that keep trying new styles out or artists that have a distinct style that they stick to?
I was chillaxing Sunday afternoon browsing images on hR while watching football games when I came across a cool scan of a painting by Jaded12. The sign in the painting inspired me to recreate the sign in 3D.
This is my first RECord inspired by someone else's work, so I'm hoping I did the resource thing right.
I haven't released a RECord in a long time so I might be a little rusty. Let me know what you think! Feel free to edit this as much as you want. It's an honor to be REmixed. I think this one could be really cool if you crop it off along one of the waves and make it a cool pattern of ground for some new world. Just an idea.
i was playing around with photoshop and this is the result.
some of you may already know hannya masks, but for those who don't:
»Hannya (般若) mask is a Japanese ritual mask used in Noh theater, representing a jealous female demon. It is used to represent the malice or sublime emotions of human beings. It possesses two sharp bull-like horns, glaring eyes, and a leering mouth split from ear to ear. (...) In the Tale of Genji the story goes:
"The shining Genji's wife, Aoi, is possessed by an evil spirit and confined to her sickbed. An itinerant mountain priest is summoned, and while he is offering incantations and prayers, the protagonist, the spirit of the shining Genji's old girlfriend, the Rokujo lady, who is jealous of his affection for Aoi, manifests. The priest wages a bitter spiritual battle with the Rokujo lady, and at last the revengeful ghost is vanquished by his prayers and attains Buddhahood. It is noteworthy that the evil spirit never takes off the hannya mask throughout her transformation into a Buddha. The Rokujo lady is still disturbed, but in the releasing of her madness she discovers a path to salvation, thus demonstrating that madness and sanity, suffering and salvation, are not unrelated to each other".
(...) The word hannya is associated with madness, but in Buddhism it signifies wisdom of enlightenment.«
(-wikipedia) sorry, much text, but i think it's a very interesting and inspiring story. at least for me!
...by the way, i am not a jealous demon
Here's a different color scheme version of the http://hitrecord.org/records/407465
Please note that this pattern is perfectly seamless and can be tile-able over and over again to form even larger infinite pattern in photoshop.
Hello again, everybody. It's been a long, long time. Hope you are all very well.
I found my mind wandering toward Stitchtown recently, and felt it would be fun to actually contribute something. I've only ever added the initial sketch, and nothing beyond that. However I've had some thoughts on the old place.
I should preface the follwing few documents with the confession: I am, sadly, in no way up to date on the Stitchtown canon. Sorry. If any of the following conflicts with it, then by all means ignore it.
The main thing I had been thinking about was not Stitchtown per se, but the world it exists in, and the rules of that world. I'll expand on that in a mo, but in the meantime, here's some Stitchers hunting clouds in the dawnlight.
drawn while watching Waltz with Bashir, which is a very powerful animation. not for those uncomfortable with war and the perception of it versus reality, but personally I'd recommend it. :)
anyway, I was left feeling bereft, and wanted to draw something for the creation myth collab anyway, so I was inspired by one sentence from the movie: "civilians are seen on balconies: women, children, and old people watching as if it is a film"
Moi's gorgeous RE: Creation illustrated inspired the layout of words. <3
so i was playing around with saintmaker's amazing photo & somehow a scary red wolflike demon with a conveniently wide open mouth emerged subtley from the background... surely a sign from the photoshop gods that i'd gotten a chance to redeem myself for that last LRRH REmix i did. hope this serves as an interesting poster for our little red collab! <3
When i first saw Joe's Occupy Wall Street collaboration,, Robo_J's Weapon REmix instantly started playing in my head! So I was pleased that Metaphorest and Robo_j added their RECords to the collab.
I reread Metaphorest's lyrics and the words in the image are from her song but I rearranged a few to make another statement.
This is a transliteration of “hitRECord” into hieroglyphics. The ancient Egyptians believed that when something was recorded it became part of eternity. They therefore recorded everything like crazy, at least the good stuff…famines, plagues and military defeats, eh, not so much. (On the flip side, if something wasn’t recorded it never “really” happened. Due to this belief they tended to “forget” to record the above mentioned defeats/etc and were also big fans of defacing the artifacts of people they didn’t like, in essence erasing their enemies from existence.). Language was art and art was language. Everything in their art and language had meaning and significance because it rippled into eternity.
Some notes for those who might enjoy it:
Aesthetics were very important to Egyptian writing, more important than spelling and grammar even. Shifting around letters and words to make the writing look pretty was completely acceptable. “Pretty”, in hieroglyphics, meant “in nice little boxes”. I’ve written “hitRECord” vertically because it looks prettier this way.
Egyptian writing left out most vowels so there is no “i”. Signs, in order from top to bottom, represent a courtyard (h), loaf of bread (t), mouth (r), double reed (long e), basket (k), lasso (o), mouth (r) and hand (d). The last sign is called a determinative. Because of all the missing vowels, and the rearranging of letters for pretty’s sake, Egyptians added a type of idea-sign (determinative) at the end of each word that hinted (helped you determine) what word they actually meant. This determinative, a man and woman with three plurality strokes, is used for “community”, “family” and the like.
I think that’s it.
(The gads of extra blue are just to keep this record from resizing into something ten feet long. ;-)
Saw this little bit by JGrimm, and I just thought of this piece.
The little story reminds me of something hopeful and happy being melted away, broken down. So I had some bright colors fading away, streaming away to the bottom, and the colors at the bottom are a little duller and everything.
Yup, there ya go.
I added this to the Amoeba poster collaboration because initially it had a good response.
It seems to capture the essence of looking forward to looking back at our past accomplishments.
I tried to add the information Joe wanted but I am not saavy enough this morning. Perhaps someone might work from this original record and create the knock out poster Joe is hoping for????
Thanks!!
I fell in love with the empty glasses shot by tudo47 and I had a concept but my photoshop skills were lacking!! Sooooo.... my husband hardwired helped me out!
I think it turned out pretty cool. Yay for husbands!!!

For this year's Secret Santa collab I got CMSChelsea, and since I LOVE physical RECords I decided to take one of her adorable illustrations and bring it to life. I really have no good excuse for this being so late, I'm just a terrible at deadlines. I hope it makes you smile despite it's late arrival!
Merry late Christmas Chelsea!
megancarnes' piano duet Daydreams inspired this. :)
Was planning to post this record as a remix of other people's great pieces but I haven't found my way to the remix yet and thought I might as well have this floating about in the lovely atmosphere that is HR. :D
(Random thought: my longest title to date, I think. Oh and my dad just gave away our rabbit - although I drew this way back and I don't have a particular soft spot for Bunny the rabbit. But still.)
