Animated RECollection Cover.
Edit: Sorry for the weird way this looks in the icon, something about the compression makes it look all wonky but there's nothing I can do about that.
first video i have made/finished with movie maker :D (it was such a bitch to make cause it kept crashing but so much fun) dammit the end was cut off!!! - -;;; (this was also such a bitch to upload...not so much fun...)
haha... dont expect anything spectacular... remember this is sort of a first for me....
with captions for the hard of hearing :D
sorry for the cut off ending.... i didnt know that it would cut off the last few seconds when uploaded.... might redo this... maybe...
I had wanted to make a visual representation of my story, Oliver and the Confidence Wig. This is what I came up with. However, that wig isn't quite what I had in mind in the story, I actually kind of like it so I used it.
I love this drawing and discovered it today through Larsene's re-recs... I spend all day on this...not that happy about it....but still wanted to post it because I wont be able to post anything for a little while because I'll be on vacation...
*I was inspired to write this as soon as I saw WhenIWasLittle's beautiful drawing. It took me a few days to get around to it and I must admit I totally forgot to post it until I saw Niki's remix...
A young girl came across a baby bird
Taken at just 32 hours old .... my daughter, Stella Mary, is already a proud hitRECorder:)
Thanks again to rejjie for making this adorable hat!
as interpreted by me for the "out of character" collab .. i mentioned to penelope that her poem made me think of reciting this in a "tough guy" persona kind of way... and thought it would be cool to try to remix RECords that might seem "out of character" ...you know, reading or acting out records in an unexpected way... i don't know. it might work :)
You called me fragile.
I don't know what to say except this tune has been in my head for 3 days. It's yours, mes chéris. Again by heart.
Oh sweet, tarty chip how I love you so.

I have a habit of remembering every day I spent with you,
I added this to the Amoeba poster collaboration because initially it had a good response.
It seems to capture the essence of looking forward to looking back at our past accomplishments.
I tried to add the information Joe wanted but I am not saavy enough this morning. Perhaps someone might work from this original record and create the knock out poster Joe is hoping for????
I fell in love with the empty glasses shot by tudo47 and I had a concept but my photoshop skills were lacking!! Sooooo.... my husband hardwired helped me out!
I think it turned out pretty cool. Yay for husbands!!!
So here's another of TotallyJamie's cut outs animated. I had a little trouble figuring out how to animate this one, but it worked out.
Ok my first silhouette animation done in after effects! Please be kind. It took me 3 days to go over tutorials and figure things out.
If you like this, I will do more of it in the future. I think this format is great for shadow caste and many more..
PS: thanks to Day_Glo for doing the voiceovers.

This video started out being one thing and then I ended up riding it right off the rails. Hang in there ;)
I need your help; though I've tried to keep track of resources, I KNOW I'm missing something. One of them is the first dancing person...
So, if anyone notices what I'm missing here, (or if it's your record), please let me know so I can properly resource it.
My reREC video this week. With special hip hop bodhran! (aka Proi is a goofer)
5 re-recs and a suggestion that we make REEL videos of our own favourite pieces.
A couple more backgroundish, textury things from my latest trip to the swamp. Maybe they'll be useful to someone. The rest will be in the album if anyone wants to poke around.
Taha...I'm just so clever with my title here aren't I? *cough* Anyway...I must stop using graphite. Honestly, I'm convinced my hands are going to forever be stained a weird silvery-blackish -.-
I really liked the song by Ryan Patrick, and its lyrics that reminded me of Joe Jackson's "Happy Loving Couples".
For my voice and the rest, I think I can call that self-mockery :D
I used Marke's Trash Deco font to create this template for the reREC videos. These are 1-10 and there is an additional slide labeled Bonus. Hopefully these will be useful to someone.
Don't worry if you don't see all the numbers when streaming the video. I don't know what's happening. If you download the file, you will have all the numbers plus the bonus.
I believe I have everyone included, if not please tell me- I want to include everybody.
oh, and funny story!
just as I was about to post this, a pop up came up and I accidentally closed out of my window, so I had to re-add all of the resources again. eek~!
there may be an easier way to do this, however- but I am a noob, so I'm unaware of all the helpful little tricks. c;
hope you enjoy. <3
Alright here are my ReRECs for the week. Please enjoy. Bare with me as I resource all of the records. But if a few days go by and you notice that I still haven't resourced your record, please let me know and I will gladly give you credit.
Metaphorest inspired me on this notion and I would love to see more people do these Katydid/n'ts, especially since my doodle is not as... far as I would like it to.
Eff you viddlah for making my video slow again.
an alternative Lorna, who has many flights of fancy.
having trouble finding the landscape i used...the file is called "landscape" and it's an older one i downloaded last year...???
(the font is called "tangerine" and is a free-for-commercial-use font.)
Okay... I love this piece. Its so cute... Well, at least the way I edited it together. It uses Day Glo's and Michal's vocals, and an animated orchestration. I imagine this as a cartoon-like intro of some sort. With Nothing as a clumsy character walking in open white space, carrying a bucket of darkness... he trips and the universe explodes out into everything :) Fun.
Hooray! I found a book that i was looking for a very long time and now I'm incredibly happy. But still I am very busy these days and that is why did not draw a new graphic, but I already have a couple ideas that I want to bring to life.
(this is the original version of the graphic "3D movie projector")
My new illustration is a dream-girl for my friend Alex. He wrote a poem about his dream-girl and I decided to draw her for him.
P.S. Summer is coming... YYAAAAAY!
One year ago I joined HitRECord and, honestly, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I know I haven’t recorded so much, but that’s because it is the last year of school and I am really busy :/ I wish I had time to collaborate more, but everyday I try to visit HitRECord for at least five minutes to see what you have been creating. I’m glad I found this website and got the chance to see all of your fantastic records :D You, hitRECorders, you are great artists, so keep doing what you do, because it is pretty amazing!
With HitRECord I also learned to celebrate every tiny progress and victory. I’ve seen that something small can be remixed into something big, and that every tiny part is important, and that is why we must celebrate them… And, talking about celebrating, right now I am celebrating my first HitRECord anniversary with an ice cream! :D
Can’t wait to see your upcoming records… Thanks for everything <3
The cover art for a collection of children's stories I've been working on that revolve around superficial judgement. "Pinstriped Shelle" is one of those stories (see resources)...
This is a little story about a cat who can't find anyone to play music with until a friendly little bee boy tells him about a far away land called Hitrecordia.
Incase you wanted to record your own voiceovers for remixing this, I wrote out all of the dialogue here. http://hitrecord.org/records/467139
Also here is a version of the animation with just sound effects and music incase you wanted to edit in your own voice overs. http://hitrecord.org/records/467159
This was originally the intro to my ReREC video but I was asked to upload it as a seperate record, so here it is.
Oh and all of the sound effects I used that aren't resourced were all royalty free sound effects that I got when I bought the Final Cut Pro bundle.
Here is an updated version of the previous "Shadow Beings Collaboration (teaser)" with an added "coming attraction" title card, some sound effects, and less BFI audio toward the end.
Extra thanks to missamerica for providing some great constructive criticism on the first version regarding the audio at the end. I agree with her 110% in that it works best without the final sound byte, leaving more emphasis on the narrtion and its content.
Raise me up to the sky, lord,
This is the time for mine own heart.
Bring me to the shallows of the sea,
Bitter enemies of mine bathe here.
Here is some old footage from the Forth of July. I hope someone might find it useful
Ok, this is perhaps one of my wierder records ;D
I was playing around, trying to write a tune for hitrecord and realised the melody I had made was very similar to the MMM themetune, so I randomly made this. Dunno exactly what it could be used for, but hey, enjoy ;D
OK, so I would first like to give you a little bit of background to my reasoning in creating this. Yesterday, I found out that my brother has been accepted to Sandhurst. This is the British Officer Training Academy for the British Army. All of a sudden, what we have all seen for many years on the television was filtering into my my own life. In what might be as little as 18 months, my brother would be putting his life on the line, leading men into a warzone. There is no way that I can hide behind the flimsy shield of a television screen anymore. Although I may not support the reasons why I country may choose to go to war, I am firmly behind the people who, when the decision has been made, gather their belongings, say goodbye to their families and take a step into unknown peril. They walk, heads high, into the Inferno.
I studied Dante's "Divine Comedy" at university, and the horror that Dante describes as he descends into Hell leaks off the page into your mind. His words ring home even now, when we recall the images of war that have been broadcast over the past century.
"The woeful people who have lost the good of the intellect"
I really don't want this line to be misinterpreted. What Virgil is describing are the souls who could not put their faith in something in life: they are doomed to spend eternity chasing a white flag, unsure of where to go. I do not want people to think that I consider the soldiers "The woeful people", devoid of intellect. They are not. What I mean to say is: when the power of the word is no longer enough, primal instinct kicks in: and there are those chosen few who are designated to defend us. I do not deny that this video is depressing. Perhaps it is too pessimistic: I have always wanted to work with Dante's writings, and the horror of war is something that although we may have not witnessed it directly, we have all been indirectly influenced by it. It has, unfortunately, become somewhat of an everyday occurence.
"Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here"
These are perhaps some of the most famous lines written by Dante. The world is not a perfect place. And there are times, yes, when even the best of us lose hope. But as Virgil says; we must put aside our distrust and arm ourselves with courage: for it is up to us to be the change. This idea was partly inspired by Wirrow's "And a new earth". Wirrow's video challenges us to look beyond the 4 walls of what society deems to be "the norm", and look out, branch out. But to be the GOOD in the world, when there is so much distress, hardship and pain...that is the real challenge.
"where i live, it's pretty awesome. " -- that's what i keep telling my friends back home.
for the past few years, Wellington has been my second home. dubbed the coolest little capital in the world, everything about this city just amazes me.
excuse the rough editing...first time making and editing my own videos....

I've been working on this since I first heard the beautiful music that is the whole of Strawberry Bootlaces... I love it!!! hope it shows in this record :)
sometimes i work really hard on my music. other times i slow one of my old songs way the fuck down and add a few effects and release it as a new RECord.

Me and my headphones and only one song playing.
It's called "the sinking ghost" by Johnny Clyde
This is what I saw, when I closed my eyes.
In my mind it was also moving.
The ghost was still but the world around him was sharp,
moving and full of cold wind.
But it wasn't depressing, it was irritating.
That is why it is out of balance.
It should be a little bit irritating and if it's not,
then I didn't deliver.
At least from my perspective.
What do you see?
(I've had a single line of this written for awhile, but was still trying to figure out where to go with it, after reading through Joe's lyrics to "Nothing Big" again, I got inspired and knew...
Two of my favorite collaborations at HR right now: The Chibirecorders and mirtle's drawings, this is a remix of the crowd awaits by mirtle, the chibis by SandyNgu and regular joe :o)
Today I had an idea. The idea was a man who found a way to create winter. He would make electric snowflakes, electric blizzards, elecrtric ice, all using his invention to create a winter wonderland whenever he chose. This song is about the first time he ever turned his machine on
As soon as I saw Wirrow's image, this popped into my head.
BTW, sorry that it's so huge... I wish for once I could get the image size to be at least somewhat normal-ish. Ah well...
i've been way too busy with a summer job and my senior thesis film for school (which will be slowly killing me until may), but i've been meaning to find more time to hit RECord. looking through my old recommendations, I saw soupy's "temple" and thought, "i want to see that move" ...so here it is moving just because.
So I've been working on this for the past few days.
Got inspired by a random song I heard on the radio :)
Maybe someone can give her a proper story..?
It finally worked!!!!
I've been on here for a year on monday so this is to celebrate that :oD
I remixed one of the photos I am working on for a show in my home town. I have finished 60 pieces so far and this is a remix of one ;)
There are cities made of iron, and cities made of clay
I had fun playing with my brush pen today. I love seeing the texture it brings out. Also cloud shapes are fun to mess with as long as you keep'em simple and not too busy they distract from the image as a whole.
Doh - was sure I'd already uploaded this - oh well - here it is now! <3
Alice, I never thought you’d end up like this
When you went down the rabbit hole, you had soul
Lately you’re ragged round the edges
Barely maintaining your public face
You feel out of place
In this world of full stops
In this rigid rat run
You can’t connect the dots
Cos it’s already been done
Darling, your empty eyes are so disarming
As the train rattles to a stop
You don’t get off
You say it’s all about the journey
Some way, the motion makes you feel at ease
You’re difficult to please
In this world of full stops
In this rigid rat run
You can’t connect the dots
Cos it’s already been done
(Here is another one of my old poems that wasn't doing anything except for sitting in a folder so if you want to play with it have at it :D)
yours was smashed with simple stone
your tiny fingers touched the other realm
and i knew you were gone the moment i had you
the moment i held you
and now i hold this stone
the words hard to read
but i can feel them with my fingers
the lambs head is gone now
sick joke by sick boys and girls
and i know you're there
in the atmosphere
past the blank
white oblivious silence
its bright and glowing and
so easy to get to
NOTE: GIF GLITCHES UNLESS YOU VIEW THE ACTUAL RECORD-- click & view please!
happy vinyl RECords day !!! the golden spiral that appears over the image at the end is a public domain one -- HOWEVER !!! i did not use it or any outside help to make MY golden spiral or rectangle, i measured everything by hand with the help of a good ol' calculator. it took like 10 hours to put everything into place, but was so worth it.
PHI (1.6180339...) appears in this RECord as follows:
- Ratio of Height to Width is approx the Golden Ratio.
- The "Golden Rectangle" underneath the RECords was made using the Golden Ratio.
- The Golden Spiral was constructed from that rectangle.
And please note that the actual spiral (blue curve at the end) passes through all of the centers of the RECords because I HAD TO MAKE THIS PERFECT !!!!!
I added in that public domain spiral at the end so you could see how this turned out... pretty accurate, huh :'D I should probably be ashamed of myself for being so obsessed with math. It is truly embarrassing how many times I have hand-measured the golden rectangle/spiral for hitRECord now...
Also sorry for all the exclaimation points I get really really really excited when I talk about math :'0
This is another remix with the fantastic mirtle's drawings, I can't get enough of them, there's so much possibilities with this drawings that my head is full of ideas, ohhh and also I am on vacation so who can blame me? hehe :o) Hugs guys!
This one my friend added the background music. I wrote this tune on guitar while I was sitting in the rain on my balcony.
