It's early morning in my neck of the woods, and it's supposed to be a glorious (albeit humid) day. So here I am, getting this done faster...

This week's reRECs include:

Audio

1. Adelic.67 by Malicore. This reminded me of the theme for "Miami Vice" a wee bit (I shall freely admit that I used to love watching that show). I really like the sass.

2. The D Drop [Little Wonder] by Pamagotchi. Take a perfectly funkified track by Malicore & add some pammy= serious fun.

3. Peppery Paper Beat by theboxsets. Short & sweet, with timpani.

4. Before I Died (Remix) by PASIV. Rich, beautiful additions like this are so classically PASIV. 4b. then Metaphorest comes along and makes you wonder how the song could've possibly been complete without harmonies :)

5. Into_Midnight_ Revised.mp3 by AboutGeorgia. 5b. metaweed Into Midnight by monkeychow. The contrast between the two versions is vast, and yet they tell the same achingly sad story.

6. Tangerine by Johnnyclyde. He's not happy with how this turned out, and I can hear the departure from his other music-- but I really like this. Since I'm on a circus kick this week, I thought it might be interesting to have it be cut & REmixed somehow, with other carnival-ish music or spoken word RECords.

Video

1. my current existential crises by hardlyreal. Hello, Ohio! People get this blank look when you ask them about Ohio... until you mention the bridges & colleges. I really like the feel of this as it is, plus there's plenty to use for REmixing.

2. temple again by bsmith. A little animation goes a long way :)

3. Revolution by crane_crafter. I love watching this so much. This is her first stop-motion piece. The process of getting everything into place is quite fascinating, and of course I adore the final result (a crane lantern).

Text

1. homemade (tiny story) by InkedCanvas. I can see a little drawing for this in my head.

2. Hinder III by Robo_j. whoo! He saved the best for last, here. The third in the series (thus far).

3. Market Butter by ManWithHat. This compelled a rather brilliant movie to be shown on the projector inside of my head. It's not so much about the butter as it is about the journey to the market.

4. This Sucks! by rstudios. It's a good thing that I'm a capable speed-reader. This is one of those tensely-written stories that you think you know what's coming, but you still want to know how you get there, and you still want to see if you're right about the ending!

Image

1. spider web by beatrice. As far as I'm concerned, it's already creeping towards Autumn, and I'm way too excited for Autumn colors & textures to arrive.

2. Captain by a killerwombat. I don't know what it is about these two photos. The cheekiness? The schnazzy shirt? The challenge to REmix it? :D

3. Horsing Around by chelsea.e my first thought here was "Circus pony!" even though it's not a pony.

4. two clowns (w/color & textures) by via. This RECord came a long way in REmixing already, but certainly there's a place for it in something else, or as an inspiration for another RECord? It is so richly colored & vibrant.

5. Somewhere (Lea Daniel coloured) by Metaphorest. Holy Crap, this is like having our very own Klimt come to life.

Collab

1. The mirtle REmix Collab by belcath1981. mirtle's drawings are so whimsical & inviting, no wonder people love to REmix them. I have been cutting out the characters & making little puppet-on-a-stick type things (it also helps that there are tons of random animals on here to print & cut out-- perfect for circus stories!). They are so wonderful for storytelling to kids! I am also determined to try to sew a pattern for one, to make a mirtle doll :D

On an aside, I think it would be awesome to someday have a little circus-themed animation (or such). There is a serious wealth of circus-themed RECords on here, and it seems like a wonderful opportunity to put something bigger together.

from The Featured

1. Into Midnight by Marielv. I like this interpretation SO much. I'd love to see a "people version," too.

Now I'm off to rustle up some breakfast. So, this isn't it, but this is it for me. Cheers & Happy RECording!

i've been way too busy with a summer job and my senior thesis film for school (which will be slowly killing me until may), but i've been meaning to find more time to hit RECord. looking through my old recommendations, I saw soupy's "temple" and thought, "i want to see that move" ...so here it is moving just because.

Absolutely disappointed in myself with this song. I feel like I could have done much better. Usually I at least feel alright about a song, but this is the first one that just feels like I failed

I was commissioned to make this lantern for a show in the Edinburgh Fringe festival and couldn't resist the opportunity to create a stop motion based around the making of. This would not have been possible without my very good friend and constant crafting companion, Sarah (freetobe), who sacrificed an (admittedly wine-soaked) evening to help film. She also solved all the technical hitches that cropped up along the way as I tried to figure out what the hell I was doing. And a huge big thank you to missamerica for writing such a perfect little ditty for this.

It is my very first stop motion and it shows but the overall effect is one of which I'm very proud. Hope you enjoy!

Dear smweed,

Sorry it took me this long to come up with something. And even worse: it's not even to the music of Pasiv and Amferraro. For some bizarre reason I couldn't make the words fit the music.

ps:So... still using the wonderful lyrics, I came up with something else. Hope you like it

pps: I'd love it if somebody would take this to the next level ;) let me know and I'll upload the stems

Into Midnight beautiful song by Sarah with lirics by smweed. The only thing I could think about when heard it first time is train obviously and traveller (starring The Man in the Herringbone Hat by JacksonBlack) heading somewhere. Thanks to everyone - we have such HUGE library of  footages here on HitRecord.

Didn't get the blues for this until I saw Marielv's brilliant "Into Midnight", "Man With the Herringbone Hat", Boxcar Willie-esque video.

I LOVE this track by Malicore. ^__^

Nameless, oh nameless little wonder

You're walking all over my heart

Lovely, how lovely you are

My reason, my thinking, my dreaming's all falling apart

Won't you come on over here little darling,

Won't you pour your sweet nothings in my ear

You're shining like a penny and you're my lucky charm

Oh little darling won't you sidle over here

Sleepless, sleepless nights have been passing

As I fill my head with dreams of you

Wishing, and hoping, for something

A look in, I'm longing, oh darling won't you please

Won't you come on over here little darling,

Won't you pour your sweet nothings in my ear

You're shining like a penny and you're my lucky charm

Oh little darling won't you sidle over here

Won't you come on over here little darling,

Won't you pour your sweet nothings in my ear

You're shining like a penny and you're my lucky charm

Oh little darling won't you sidle over here

This is a little video of clips of places of been recently soundtracked by Madrond101's "Nouveau Départ"...I'd be cool to have a monolouge being read overtop if anyone is up to it! :)I was thinking it would go well in relation to smweed's insides out collab!
