Gonna bury my face
Gonna look out of place
Gonna bury my face
Gonna look out of place

I'm alone in the wind
And I'm gonna blow it
Out of proportion
Like a wartime poet
Feel like a weather balloon
That's exploded
On the lips of a phantom
No one ever noticed

You're a glittering empire
I'm a simple idea
You be the timing
And I'll be well hidden
Feels like a match made
To strike me stupid
So don't pick me up
I'm a rabid kitten

Gonna bury my face
Gonna look out of place
Gonna bury my face
Gonna look out of place

I added the following: Hofner bass, harpsichord, Hammond-ish organ, 'virtual' strings (violins, violas, cellos) and flute, and additional backing vocals.

In other words, I went a little crazy.

By, by the slowly flowing river
The skyline is a tangled sheen
My soul is in the hands of my love
She smiles with one eye weeping

By the velvet lights above us
Like cosmic candles in plastic boats
She is just like I imagined
We smile with both sides burning

La la la lapis
La la lazuli

Finally I
Finally I hope for what I have
Finally I
Finally I am not profoundly sad

You can't buy love
So I was told
Just sell your soul to me
And I might keep you warm
Warm with the fire
From the bridges
You've burned down for me

I fumbled through
The hems of her clothes
And followed my nobody nose
Until I heard
Why the sound doesn't go
With the face of your voice
And so it was time
Time to go

Now I shake time loose
With images by
My unopened eyes of you
When you said
I cry 'cause I'm worth so much
Is that not enough for you

I bask in the glow
Of the teacup, I know
My ambition is small at the most
But still, I hear
I believe in you so
Don't forget what I own
And so it is time
Time to go

Why am I
So easily wrapped inside
Why am I
So sensitive
Why do I fall
Why am I all emotion
Why should I try to care
When I'm scared

You can be
So hard to make believe
You can be
My enemy
You laugh at me
You have to see me crawling
You make it all seem so fair
Well, I'm scared

Why do I fall
Why am I all emotion
Why should I try to care
When I'm scared

Coughing at the moon
Trying to get to you
Often will I lie awake and
Count the fishes in the lake
Count the boyfriends that you make
How long do I have to wait

Strangling my heart
Thinking of my art
Memory's all blank and gray
Messages are all erased
With hope I had today
How long do I have to wait

Love is alive and well
As far as I can tell
I know it all too well

Sick of feeling screwed
Sick of wanting you
Sick and tired of the way
You promise me about someday
When you will, you can't say
How long do I have to wait

Love is alive and well
As far as I can tell
I know it all too well

The original title, "Veille L'sanctifier Enfant", translates, roughly, as "Behold the Holy Child". Very roughly.

Lyrics:

We fall in love with our own shadows
Soft and hollow by the moon
By the ants crawling up our knees
They're so ambitious
And oh, so vicious

Halloween and baby Jesus
The deep, dark truth is coming soon
Life itself is but a smoke we breathe
And what exists
But the space between us all

We fall in love with our own shadows
Halloween and baby Jesus
Soft and hollow by the moon
The deep, dark truth is coming soon

Oh, I can't stay
When you say
Please go away
Whisper it to me
With a kiss
How our love can
Cease to exist

Please don't say it's only something in my eyes
Please believe me, oh, I didn't realize
Please, I'm begging you, don't make me tell a lie
Please, I'm fine

How can it be
That you see
The ghost in me
I've thought about it
Far too long
Something's holding me
In it's arms

Please don't say it's only something in my eyes
Please believe me, oh, I didn't realize
Please, I'm begging you, don't make me tell a lie
Please, I'm fine

Once upon a time, there was a fellow named Frederic Hanson who released a song called "Astrid". Sean Lennon heard it, and thought it was pretty cool. Sean suggested that harmony vocals would sound good on it, and recommended that maybe I could do it. This is the entirety of my attempt, which became its own little composition independant of Frederic's song. I ended up sticking it onto the end of another song of mine, though I don't remember which one. Still, I figured I would post this on its own.

Lyrics:

The tomb of a millionaire
The doors of golden fame
The secret behind
You're gonna find
They're one and the same

Come from your lonely room
And find another way
And maybe you will find
That love is on the firing line

Out of the wilderness
The lap of luxury
Will come and destroy
Comfort and joy
And all you believe

Out from the watchful eye
You'll find another way
Surely you will find
That love is on the firing line

Lyrics:

When I met you
Was when I lost you in the rain
That's when I guess you
Were dreaming of the sun

I tried to rise above it
I even made a model of my heart
But you tore it all apart

When I loved you
You were busy with yourself
Nothing above you
Could tell me what I'd done

I tried to rise above it
I even made a model of my heart
But you tore it all apart

When I left you
There was nothing left to leave
The more that you promised to me
The less I could believe

I tried to rise above it
I even made a model of my heart
But you tore it all apart

I tried to rise above it
I even made a model of my heart
But you tore it all apart

I even made a model of my heart
But you tore it all apart

The foundation of the Hey! A Hit Record! collaboration. Listen with your ears, preferably, even though the eyes may have it, the nose may know it and the tongue may lash it.

Hi! I'm Spaceship. Everyone say, "Hi, Spaceship!" ...Or not.

I recorded a upbeat, 1960s-influenced song many ages ago and never got around to putting words to it. It has acoustic guitars, organ, piano, drums, tambourine, timpani, and hand claps. Here's hoping someone will have an idea of what to do with it.

So...download it now! Hurry! Listen to it, then proceed to either a. fall asleep, or b. fall down this rabbit hole of a collaboration.

Some background info: when I thought of the tune, I was on the EL train in Chicago, listening to a lady talking about all of the layoffs at the steel mills in the 1980s, and how she had been there with the picket lines. I kept looking out the window of the train as she talked. I wasn't ignoring her, but as it was such a beautiful day, all I could think was, "Today is as nice a day as any to get laid off." And thus, a song was born.

Anyway, I'm picturing a short music video, of sorts, as the final result. Perhaps an entire story told in the span of three and a half minutes. Whatever you can think of, do it and send it, if the spirit moves you. Inject a bit of yourself into the mix and see what happens.

So! If you feel inspired, send any and all lyrical, musical and visual ideas this way. Let's do this thing!

A song about the willingness to give oneself for another, a willingness that doesn't have to be self-destructive, but rather regenerative and life-giving. Either that, or it's about the black market. I choose the former, thank you very much.

I plan on re-recording this song, as the original demo is...well, a demo, which is fairly self-evident. But I added a string quartet-type sound toward the end that I hope to expand upon in the final version.

Let me know what you think, or what needs work, or if you'd like to put this over your fireplace. ^_^

Question: Despite the fact that this is free for the taking, would you actually pay to download a song like this? Because, if it weren't for the fact that I am on it, I would.

Spaceship: music, lyrics, vocals, piano, rhythm and slide guitar, synth bass
Metaphorest: lyrics, vocals
Monkeychow: vocals, bass

"Sean" is the first track on the album As the Head Turns (Amazon, CD Baby). HitRECord is the first place I have chosen to release the track for free. I may even post stems soon...

Please, please, please let me know what you guys think! And remember that half of the proceeds from the album and its songs go to the NAEH (National Alliance to End Homelessness). Thanks!

(The wav. version of this wasn't working, so reuploading as an .mp3!)

I am planning for my next project to be a multimedia movie musical. It will be both a visual and audio experience that would work both as an album and a video.

"Be Careful" is a flying shard of a song fragment that will perhaps become part of this loose collective of jumbled poems that hum. And by perhaps I mean most definitely.

All forthcoming uploads of this sort will be limited to guitar and/or piano and vocals. No other frills, no other spills, no other cheap thrills, no electric bills.

Any creative contributions you would like to make to this or said future fragments may feature on this faintly fully-formed final folio. In other words: I'd like for you to be on this endeavor with me. That is, if you want to, maybe.
