Neither knew who killed the balloon when the monsters tore through the wall. "I admit, I never told you" talking to herself again. "Sometimes the monsters escape without any notice."... |

The early bird slept in,
So the worm decided to seize the day. He rallied a worm army to march upon the cities And nothing was quite the same after that. |

This is how I REmix, which is a wonderful aspect of hitRECord. I love getting my hands on work, twisting and tweaking it. I espcially love finding that special record that can be developed/adapted to suit a collaboration.
I am always adding records to a REmix album I've created for myself (and for others to pull from). It's far easier creating an album then scrolling through all my RECommends (although I totally do that as well).
First I pick a RECord I am really diggin' and say "Hey RECord, Ima gonna remix you right up!" Then I assess my time, focus, tools and quantity and quality of coffee available.
Second I watch the collab. video/read the curator text again to get in the zone, think about my take or direction I want to go in and reassure myself "Yeah, this is a friggin' good idea Clare!" Then I punch the air and freeze frame for a sec to mentally capture the moment.
Third I REmix the shit outta it!
For example... REgarding Kids vs Monsters I took a text record from the collab. and saw that this text had referenced an image record. I reread the text, got to know the image then suddenly remembered I had a big box of crayons. I then punched the air again and mentally noted another awesome decision. I then made a coffee and grabbed my crayons (that sounds dirty, but they're just crayons people).
I wrote out the text whilst considering how the character in the image would write it - spelling, grammar, the situation they are in when writing it etc. Yeah, I totally 'got into character'.
I then made it ol' school craft style (which is what was required to get the desired outcome rather than vectors and shiz for this particular REmix) then scanned it, tweaked it in Photoshop (Illustrator is my bff as well) and uploaded it. Then I high-fived myself after which I told myself to calm the fuck down and pack up my crayons.
And thats how a REmix is born! Taa-daa!
P.S I usually hitRECord on my bed when I'm doing computer based things but for this crafternoon I commandeered the dining room table. The towel was insisted upon because 'I'd scratch the table'. Bullshit, I would never have scratched the table but now we'll never know.

I have been wanted to REmix this great illustration (a tiny story in its own right) for ages! I apologise to my fellow countrymen for the Americani'z'ed spelling however I didn't want something as trivial as spelling to stand out over the image : )
A small request while you are here, for the purposes of REmixing please upload as high res as you can images and remove any watermarks. Saves going in an photoshopping it out and helps create a cleaner image : ) Ta!

Love JenniferChittenden's image Wandering Heart and edited the heart for use in another image. Here it is for others to REmix.
I've been waiting and watching these past few months (much to my mounting frustration) for the perfect image/s to REmix for rajasoup's tiny story and then, finally, I stumbled across this amazing little guy by darrylfletcher (check out his other RECords!).
It was well worth the wait. The style reminds me of those hard cover little story books you used to get at the supermarket check out (it was the 80's for those youngins playing at home) and I miss them.
Download for better quality and size.
It's a big image so download for better viewing
High on their roof tops they plotted revenge
down to the very last detail of how he'd meet his end
Although clever and cunning they were sadly unaware
that a whispers preferred means of travel was naturally by air
A gush, a flurry, a whirlwind, a breeze,
could carry one for miles if it should please.
So when escaping their lips these whispers took flight
and fell on the ears of whom they had set in their sights
Shocked and alarmed, unsure if this was the truth
their intended victim gathered his pennies and hire a sleuth.
Yet after considerable private eyeing all was confirmed,
he did indeed have a date with the potter's field worms
Without hesitation, he took off like the wind,
leaving those high up on roof tops in quite a spin.
How did he guess?
Who was it that told?
never once considering that whispers have a mind of their own.
This is REmix is a REmix of a REmix of a REmix of a REmix.
I REmixed tdolans illustrations into a photo I had, Metaphorest wrote a tiny poem about this gorgeous couple, then R_sarrAzin REmixed Metaphorest's tiny poem into a different version, then I REmixed those tiny poems together and created this. Whoa, bit of a REmixception huh?
Hearts to out Metaphorest, tdolan and R_sarrAzin for bringing my favourite couple on hitRECord to life : )
Madly in love with Metafictionists enuendo doo wop/pop Ice Cream and Lollipops so I thought I'd do my own dirty karaoke version. It's a bit well, less restrained than Raineys, this one kinda loses it in the end : / Hahaha so fun to RECord!
I stumbled across the video 'I Am Revolution' MattConley put together for the 'I Am' collab which was before my hitRECord time but I really like the idea of declaring oneself in this moment as a historical RECord, defining the times we live in for not only ourselves but for future audiences. Jerry Rubin's words also resonated with me not only within the context they were spoken but also as a remark on the times and how they are still applicable today in a variety of spheres.
Those words that have been milling around in my head so this is my image REmix representation for your consideration.
Oh and it's my 1000th RECord :D
