This story, in my mind, is an animation, but since I don't have the first clue how to do animation, I attempted to capture something of the story this way.  Maybe someone ore talented than me can run with it.   The story behind the drawings (as opposed to the story in the drawings)  is this: 

In another world, my dad, instead of being a civil servant all his life, would have been a film maker.  So, he came on part of my Adventure with me this summer and at one point I showed him this tiny music box that a friend had given me as a good-luck charm.  It's just a cylinder and tines with a little crank, rather than an actual music box as in the picture.  Anyway, I'm rummaging around my hotel room, repacking or unpacking or something, and I realize that I've been hearing the song--"You Are My Sunshine"--playing for a long time.  I stop what I'm doing and look at my dad, who is sitting on the edge of the bed with this tiny music box on his hand, raptly turning the little crank and with that look on his face that he gets when he's winding up to tell a story.  He catches me watching him and says: "There's this old trapper's cabin in the deep woods, half-buried in snow, and you can hear in the clear night the sound of a music box.  Inside is a huge, hairy trapper sitting in the firelight carefully turning the tiny crank and listening to the music.  Then we fade to a flashback of him as a young man, a Doughboy, in Paris, and the rest of the story is about his adventures and how he came to be all alone in this cabin in the woods." Of all the great moments on my Adventure, this one was among the most meaningful to me, because that's my dad, right there, a music box in his hand and a whole film in his mind's eye.

I had some major computer issues this week and my editing software actually completely crapped out on me so I had to use a different program. Because of that I couldn't edit in the video clips that I had planned to for 2 of the records here (sorry!). Also there are a couple sound issues...so sorry for the bad quality and hiccups!

*I'm adding this to the re: childhood collab after some reflection, because it details a dark experience I had as a child--one which continued in various forms for years--and which shaped me as an adult. It veers into adulthood toward the middle, but I still thought it relevant because things like this do happen to children. Childhood isn't all games and ice cream and innocence. But, I did try to keep it lighthearted. ^_^

ANYway. :) Maybe this is a story about karma, or schadenfreude, or maybe it's about learning to not give a goddamn? Either way, you can watch me tell the story about the time I got stabbed repeatedly with a hypodermic insulin needle, how I (mostly) got over it, what became of the stabber, and watch me walk into a tree.

I don’t know how I feel finding out that he is a sad, angry, lonely, tragic man, plucking around on earth aimlessly and trying to dig up something he knows he can never have. He’s pissed off at women because he can’t “keep one.” He hasn’t ever known love. He’s decided to “become a bastard” so that maybe women will love him.

Dick, YOU STABBED A LITTLE GIRL. Perhaps you’re already a bastard. Maybe that’s the problem? 

But it’s both tragic AND comic to read his status updates.  He just got out of jail, yet again. He still calls himself “the Blind Man” too. Poor, miserable, sad creature. I think I forgive him.

If you hadn't noticed, Spaceship (Mr. Spaceship? I dunno) laid down some awesome vocals on my "Synth-o-rama" instrumental track. He was kind enough to get me the dry vocals so I could dump them into my original session and work out a new mix. Here is said new mix. I'm very much into this vocal part...It's perfect and I couldn't have thought of it myself. 

I plan on re-recording this song, as the original demo is...well, a demo, which is fairly self-evident. But I added a string quartet-type sound toward the end that I hope to expand upon in the final version.

I love buttercup's beautiful photo "as you wish", of her grandparents sharing a dance at their wedding. I knew I wanted to REmix vintage REmix collab. When I saw Jaded12's "Stars on a String" I got the idea for this.

Here's a new mix of the hip-hop tune "Downtown 81" by Kenneth Masters. A few elements have been rearranged here and there but I was able to loop part of the instrumental and place the bars right in the middle so now, if one were so inclined, a new vocalist can add in their verse pretty seamlessly.

This one took a bit longer than the previous 2 drawings in the same series because I couldn't make up my mind on which  screen cap to use for reference and the after effects on the film from which I got the screen caps from have made it harder to get a clearer look at Lawrie's face but I was too embarassed to ask him to upload the raw footage.  There were several times during the process of drawing this when I felt this looks more like a portrait of a character from a horror movie (for all I know, it probably still does)  Though challanging, I really enjoyed working on this piece because I got to draw the rarebear suit and the mice treats designed by jenyffer.maria, which was ENORMOUSLY FUN! 

Now I need to figure out on how to draw Mr. Morgansen...

A good man and a prominent Canadian lost his battle with cancer last week. This was the last few lines of a letter he wrote that was released after his death.

I was listening to Metaphorest's use of Garageband loops on "More..." a while back and I thought i'd give it a very amateur bash!

on the return trip back to Los Angeles from San Francisco - driving down the CA-138 at night. It was one of those dark straight highways, so I took the chance to record some eerie dark driving footage.
this trip has opened up some pretty spiffy RECording opportunities, this was certainly one of them. And I got more on the way.

No sound on this, since it would have sounded horrible with the wind and everything.

Putting WWW on piano was pure genuis, and I remembered this piece I'd heard from megancarnes (which is beautiful), so I wanted to add the two together in this really soft pretty piece. (Hopefully, I succeeded)

May seem a bit of a cheat I know, but there's more to it than just a date change. There are a couple of new text bits which I hope people can take, remix and do whatever with and also this is now 29.97 frames (to keep in line with all the americans!)

....that's a whole extra 4 frames per second, value for money or what!

A kind of rockabilly/swing/close harmony/babershop band called The Hitrecordettes (of course) !

The thing is I'm not a musicien, not a singer & my skills to write are close to zero...

Fortunately there are a lot of great persons here that can do that :)

First example : Alpal did a fantastique wah wah remix of the Wanderer, that's how I got the idea & also thanks to my recent discovering of the Andrews Sisters (never to late to « newly » listen to old music)

Hand Drawn olde fashioned classic pen and paper. Its like 1am, and kinda rushed the photo so its abit low quality,....sorry! the wings are drawn on the photo but ill try upload them separetly, or trace some new ones xx

Cleaned the Remix up a bit, fixed the spelling error, added in some elements of the ever dapper Morgan M Morgenson from screencaps, as well as some more Reccreatures.  Only 3 boxes I think don't have anything in them, hoping to get those filled in sometime before the deadline.

I enjoyed the poem, thought I'd have a go. My recording equipment hates me, hopefully the judges don't. 

Pure ridiculousness made out of …everything :)

OKAY.  Mixed together bits of various records that had been done of Blackbook 2, trying to get a range of different contributions in, and added some on top of each other...got a bit of something in each box.  Decided to do what I had done with the "Nothing Joe" minus that background.  I used a number of resources, but if I forgot one please let me know. 

Once agian a cute litte idea turned into pure ridiculousness :)

This is a picture of my brother that I drew. He spent a semester in Rome but got a chance to go to the Swiss Alps.

Shot with homemade (expired) red-scale film.

I used a bunch of other users' illustrations since I'm no good at drawing, but I do like squirrels and squirrelly people, so I took a shot at drawing them. 

I'm not sure how to attach the PDF files to this, but I'll try to figure it out tomorrow. It's almost 5 am and this is my third attempt at uploading! 

Thought I'd give it a go :)

Immediately upon seeing wirrow's gorgeous “mountain tops are lifting,” I couldn't get the idea of doing it in stained glass out of my mind (I also thought it could be cool as a quilt... anyone want to take that one on?). Anyways, I most desperately wanted it hanging in my window. And now it does:) And I only bled a very little bit in the process (glass, as one might expect, is rather sharp (as are the edges of the copper foil tape, which was more of a surprize)).

This is nicole.c.silver's picture - The reflection from the clouds captured in this photo - absolutely magnificant!! I wasn't so worried about keeping the person or trees sharp/clear so much because I wanted to exemplify the water also allowing that to be the ceter of attention. I mainly left the photo black & white with a splash of color left on the reflection and a bit of "reflective color" on the person.

I love this Tori's picture, so I decide to make a remix taking to Morgan and Destiny to a wonderful date near the lighthouse! :o)

Hey hitRECord, I'm officially a one-year old! I decided to make this video, first time doing something of this sort. I'm incredibly awkward in front of a camera and not very eloquent when I place myself on the spot. I just wanted to reflect on my year, the circle tiny story, hitrecord at the movies, the future, etc. I get kind of rambly (hence the random edits) so if you want quick entertainment, I left some random quick bloopers in the end (at approx. 5:50). I also tried to film this on an earlier date, but then the audio got messed up so I promise, I didn't randomly go change.

I don't know why but at the first moment that I saw this great picture of the moon, I think about the Shadows, so this is the result! I hope you like it guys!!!

Haven't used oil pastels in about 15 years but looks like they've bested me again...sorry it's so messy haha.

A teeny stop motion on the occasion of my second hitRECord anniversary. I love you all and am so very, very grateful for the amazing support I've gotten from this community for the last 24 months. I added LizRECord's blackbook illustration, because a similar image was also in my head at some point writing the piece... it came in toward the end.

Recently I found an amazing drawing of Lionel (MMM2) made by cat-cat. Before, I play a little bit with the drawing that she did of Destiny, and now, I decide to do something using both, cat-cat is extremely talented and we all love Morgan and Destiny stories, and I used as an adition the amazing R.M.S Metaphorest made by Lawrie Brewster, wich is amazing, so I hope you all like this! happy weekend everyone!!
