Sundays are for... working! Now that I'm off of work, I can get this bad boy done.
My apologies for not making a reREC last week. See, I was going to make something "really cool" to celebrate my 200th RECord (seeing as how I spaced my 1st anniversary & all), but as the week(s) progressed, I'm realizing that "something cool" could take me an eon. Or at least 21 more RECords. So. New goal: 222= schnazzy cool thing to celebrate how redonkulously slow like molasses I am. Good? Good. Plus I still need to sift through all of the San Fran RECords! What a blast you guys had...
Now then... Heavy on the audio, 'cause you know how I am. Descriptions for some, but not all, to save on time.
Audio
1. Sweet Skin by zMorris. Wateringpot alert! This became part of my 'Double-Dog Dares to be Repeated' collection right away. For me, it's a heart-wrenching song of "goodbye," and in the most tragic, painful way possible.
2. Blankets by Johnnyclyde. You know, looking back at the writing I post here, a lot of my work is written to Johnnyclyde's music. It makes my brain get-up-&-go, in such an easy way. Love that. This one had my brain juicing about in water: sea turtles, mangroves and dappled sunshine :D
3. The Grind by AlmostSound.
4. Chasing a Dream by Vedder.
5. Ragnarök Song by ManWithHat. heh.
6. We Stand Together by TheWayTimMoves.
7. Give by ruary.
8. Once Upon a Tiny Tune (added vocals) by eaneikciv. So, I have absolutely no singing talent & I cheerfully sing this at the top of my lungs anyway. Good thing my neighbor's dog is deaf! Oh wait, that still leaves my poor neighbor...
9. The Steps Between Us by Malicore.
10. Nightfall by HaydenArp.
11. Bird with a Human Heart Remix by irregraceless. Oh, what a little gemmy-gem. Love this.
12. Uke Chords (rmx) by Sir_Frog.
13. Big Bad Wolfblood by MadisenMusic. Now REmixed into something also very schnazzy by Malicore, I just about flailed when I heard this-- it was what was in my head when I read Metaphorest's poem for wirrow's image. Whoa!
Image
1. Blindness by djnamelis. One of many stark, painful portraits REleased as of late... I thought of Icarus when I first saw this, but I don't know why.
2. Infatuation by messyowl.
3. starwielder on fire (wirrow remix) by adhgraphicdesign.
4. Hevn & Stars (Lea Daniel Remix) by Metaphorest. Holy Crap! An absolutely beautiful image to begin with, Metaphorest's REmix of Lea Daniel's work makes me want to go create a Hevn & Stars mask, right now.
Text
1. Mary Margaret & the Silver Tree (parts one & two) by Metaphorest (yes, it's a multi-Metaphorest weekend!) The mental imagery for these stories made me smiiiile. I have parts of them memorized, so that cranky-arsed children at my store get an impromptu story to re-direct their attention. Works every time. Oh, for want of little drawings that I could make into stick puppets. Some animation (erm, not by me!). Or a fabulously condensed tale that's written into a song. Or, or... you get it. I got so excited when initially read these, I forgot to give the first one a heart! pfft.
2. Mind-Altering Substance by AeB. You know when your brain plunges forward, screeches to a halt abruptly (complete with an impressive plume of smoke), gloms onto an idea & then wants to do nothing but toy with it? That would've been me, after reading this. Short & sweet brain fodder possibilities, whoohoo!
3. The Apothecary's Daughter cont part7 by ruffedges. Gushing with Words, I am! It takes me a long time to manually search through about 100 of my fave RECorder's updates every week, and I still miss stuff left & right. Grawr. SO glad I didn't miss this!
Continuing a tale that's been in the works for a long while (I want there to be drawings/animation for this so badly, you have no idea), this nicely fits my idea of a long-term, in-progress fairie tale/fable-y story (of a sort). I have had music in my head for this from the beginning, but I have no idea how to compose it. It's similar to the styles of Gustavo Santaolalla & Hans Zimmer :)
4. Crazyhot by TawdryHepburn. Unabashedly in-your-face & feeling full-on uhh-- frisky--about it, I couldn't help but to giggle & appreciate this for the writying style alone. The subject matter might make some shy away... but that's what REmixing can be about. The Challenge: how do you honor something such as this, without taking away the snacky goodness of it? :)
Video
1. Dream Song Film by Lawrie Brewster. This is like... being able to covertly ogle a surreal film-within-a-film. I freely admit to wondering what a skilled/determined editor could make with this...
and now... that's not it, but that's it for me. I'm off to do something creative :)
Cheers & Happy RECording!

(I'll be posting this in instalments to encourage me to actually finish it!) The Silver Tree had stood on Silver Hill for a long, long time. Ages. Longer than a piece of str... |

Mixed Metaphorest's Bird With a Human Heart with Malicore's The Steps Between Us. Inspired by Mirtle's original art, Bird With a Human Heart. :o)
It was incredibly spontaneous.
just an improv song about a memory one night. : ]
thnx
A piece I made a very long time ago and am now uploading. Made to reflect the mysterious magic of the later hours.

Mary Margaret was the sort to stifle her sneezes for fear of offending people. As it happened, the chaotic squeak, snort and choo she produced was, in fact, infinitely more offensive than the pl... |

Kinda inspired by the opening scene of wild strawberries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3n4TxNeaPg and Lizzie Mackies beautiful music.
Perhaps somebody would like to write a piece that could be read over this?
She loved you for the constellations on your neck
The way her eyes connected
The way her eyes made lines
The way they'd trail down down down
To your tailbone.
And she felt a little naughty
She felt a little sick
For loving you cause your eyes dont focus
Cause your minds like a snowy tv set
Cause your eyes have purple rings around them from maybe
Endless nights of endless awake.
And she was infatuated with this idea of being
Loved by something that couldn't love.
And thats why she loved you.
Can ya dig it?
I truly love instrumental guitar music...

There are no love songs on the radio
But there's music in the street
There's so much more to know
And nothing is complete
There's no heads or tails,
We're all just somewhere in between
All of the stars are visible
And all of the world is green
And on Friday night, the library
Stays open until dawn,
Serving drinks in silence
'Til the whiskey has all gone
Is this the end or the beginning?
Nobody's keeping track.
This is my kind of Ragnarok
Where the tail fights back.
Betelgeuse's supernova
Has turned night into day
But nobody is freaking out
They've all come out to play
'Cause everybody understands
Basic astrophysicsAnd the incongruities
In Apocalypse logistics.
And on Friday night, the library
Stays open until dawn
Serving drinks in silence
'Til the Kafka has all gone
Is this the end or the beginning?
Well, nobody's really keeping track,
And on Saturday night, the library
Stays open until dawn
Serving drinks in silence
'Til the Bronte has all gone
On Sunday night, the library
Stays open until dawn,
Serving drinks in silence
'Til the Gaiman has all gone.
Is this the end or the beginning?
Well, nobody's really keeping track
This is my kind of Ragnarok
Where the tail fights back.
And nobody has really found
What they're looking for
But we're on the road to get there
So nobody is keeping score
So raise your glasses high
While we ring in this new age
Maybe this time all of us
Will earn a living wage.
A fun instrumental song of mine that includes harmonica and acoustic guitar. I am looking for someone that would like to put their own vocals over it. DO IT!!!
A rap to the words of Metaphorest's incredible poem, (below) that she wrote for Wirrow's amazing image. :)
"Meek boy, weak boy, frightened little lamb, boy.
Eat him up, beat him up, wham, bam, slam, boy
Wolfpack, lashback, put him in his place now
Little mite, first fight, fast went down
Bloodstains, mudstains, in his little limbs, pains
Choked up, broke up, hollow-heart and numb-brains
Toughen up, button up, chin held high, child
Knuckle down, shuffle round, wolves run wild
Months pass, maths class, picking on their victim
Gathered round, floorbound, punched him, kicked him
Can’t breathe, gotta leave, little lamb is broken
Never known, all alone, all unspoken"
Walk home, stalk home, slinking through the old park
Red eyes, dead eyes, spying in the dark
A wolf, boy! Run, boy! But he stops dead, see
Stand his ground, this round, finally
Meek boy, weak boy, shed his little lamb’s wool
Strong boy, wrong boy has his little belly full
Dead wolf, bled wolf, wear a suit of wolf hide
One of them, one of them, on the outside
One of them, one of them, on the outside
I thought Ryan Patrick's new tiny tune was a lot of fun and just couldn't help singing along a little. And now I'm officially jealous of your tiny piano.

The unknown man raised himself to his feet, Shelley was struck by the size of him, he seemed to be even bigger than she had thought at first. The better that she took him in the more she realise... |

He shot himself in the head. Again. It is becoming a bit of a habit with him. This is the fifth time in a month that he has loaded up his gun, put the barrel to his head, and pulled the trigger.... |

Perhaps this is unexpected. Hope you like. Could use some more remixing.
