So here's the story!
I was feeling quite despondent about making music. It seemed a superficial means to an end, and ultimately a waste of time.
So! I had an idea. Do something for charity. Therefore, I went to work on an album wherewith half of all the financial contributions would go to some particular charity. After much debate and research, I settled upon the National Alliance to End Homelessness, or NAEH. (http://endhomelessness.org)
The wild thing about this project is that the titles of the songs for this album were all contributed, as well. This added a twist to the challenge of writing songs. But it certainly helped, I think! In fact, it led me into musical territories I would have not have readily gone into. (e.g. "You Smell Like Winter" is the first instance of me writing in 5/4 time.)
This album, As The Head Turns, is going to be officially released online very, very soon for purchase via iTunes and all that. There are a few more tracks that will be available, but are being withheld for the grand opening, so to speak.
So, with that, I thought I'd just collect the tracks for this album as they are released on HR. Plus, it's going to be hopefully helping to end a major and growing, yet sadly ignored, problem in our country that is happening more and more often.
Let me know what you guys think. ^_^

I loved Metaphorest's mix of Escape Artists! I asked her if I could make her vocal addition part of the final mix, as I plan to include the song on a new album entitled As the Head Turns. And she said yes! And passed along the isolated harmony tracks. So again, here is my song. With Sarah's help, of course. :)
A track for an album (yet to be released) titled As The Head Turns, which (I hope) will benefit the fight to prevent the causes of homelessness.
Instrumentation: vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, cello, violins, piano, droning tamboura, handclaps, tambourine, and church bell chimes.
By, by the slowly flowing river
The skyline is a tangled sheen
My soul is in the hands of my love
She smiles with one eye weeping
By the velvet lights above us
Like cosmic candles in plastic boats
She is just like I imagined
We smile with both sides burning
La la la lapis
La la lazuli
Finally I
Finally I hope for what I have
Finally I
Finally I am not profoundly sad
Acoustic and electric guitars, Hofner bass, drums, harmonica. And lots of reverb.
I made some slight adjustments to this! Let me know what you think it needs, as your input can change the final result. The album "As the Head Turns" drops on November 22. ^_^
"Sean" is the first track on the album As the Head Turns (Amazon, CD Baby). HitRECord is the first place I have chosen to release the track for free. I may even post stems soon...
Please, please, please let me know what you guys think! And remember that half of the proceeds from the album and its songs go to the NAEH (National Alliance to End Homelessness). Thanks!
