This is an album of songs and music from the site that I found and enjoyed.
first track on album 'spilt milk', but copyright shmoppyrights. right? rights.
and someone asked for the lyrics:
drag your feet, keep your life strapped to your shoulders.
if you don't carve your age into your belt, you wont get any older
it's a mixed up masquerade, a penniless arcade
every face a frown, oh what a crazy town
hang your head, they'll steal the toes right off of your feet
you're lucky to count all ten, when you're living on the street
its a story thats been told, a body thats been sold
'round and around and around. oh what a crazy town
(see) joy around here comes in a little pink balloon
and if you got out of here yesterday it wouldn't be too soon
it's a cardboard palisade, a pocket change brigade
every way is down. oh what a crazy town
I was humming this in the shower, and I decided to record it. Here are the results. Let me know what you think.
I liked this song quite a bit so I added a couple of instruments, some hand claps, and a bit of vocal harmonies as well. Yay!
I saw Meta posted the stems for this to Albert, and I noticed that he might want some male vocals in the song. All I did was sing along with it, not really any fancy harmonies or anything, so I can post my vocals alone if you happen to want them. Or, I can even record different harmonies if you like. It might even be best if I wasn't singing the entire time. All just an idea, nothing big. Let me know. :)
once upon a time, tia fischer asked me to work on her song, so i added piano, strings and bells. the end.
I uploaded the stems if anyone needs them!
I left this version really simple, so there's plenty of space for anyone else to add some more instruments or vocals. The chords I used are C, Am7, F and G
Lyrics:
The wind came
And blew the trees
Turned the meadow
Into a golden sea
Dandelions flew
One seed at a time
Floating away into the sky
You laid your head
Down next to mine
We watched the circus
Marching across the sky
Dandelions flew
One seed at a time
Floating away into the sky
words:
like your chemistry a hollow you like in your chest where you hide don't fill it up; you might be left outside cold on the tips warmer as you move in taste the salt on my lips your salt is so different hope that we shared in a station somewhere that's a long way to go without someone with you there skin me right up with the words that you spoke i'm a veteran oak and you are my virgin steel i like your chemistry
Added some harmonies, hope they are alright! <3
non dimenticare
[don't forget]
non dimenticarmi
[don't forget me]
io troverò
[i will find]
un luogo dove
[a place where]
mi possa ricordare
[you can remember me]
Non perdermi
[don't lose me]
Non sbagliare
[don't make a mistake]
Non sono un foglio do carta che
[i'm not a piece of paper that]
Si può archiviare
[can be filed away]
Non ignorarmi
[don't ignore me]
Sto qui per amarti
[i'm here to love you]
Non sono come il vetro che
[i'm not like glass which]
Puo rompere come il cuore
[can break like a heart]
Non dimenticarmi
[don't forget me]
Sempre ricordare
[always remember]
Io troverò
[i will find]
Un luogo dove
[a place where]
Posso vivere per sempre
[i can live forever]
This is me singing along with Megan's beautiful piano cover of wirrow's 'the atom song'
Here is my first stab at remixing Joe's performance at BFI. A big thanks to everyone that REcorded the performance.
while working on a REmix of "the prize," i got this riff in my head. so i put prize on hold and worked on this.
sampled a bit of Lava Tornado and another tasy find from GwenInterrupted's trusty loop collection.
Guitar, Bass, Arrangement ~ meeeee
rather than sit around with it, i'm sharing it in its "rough draft" state. or whatever.
i'd love to get someone doing a nice hip hop flow to it. or something of that nature.
tbc.
this is why i hit RECord.
<3
This RECord can now be heard on the HitRECorderly #3 Vinyl (released Summer 2012) as "Diamond in the Rough"
check it out here:

To sum it up, This track is amazing and I wish it were longer. <3
Ease up on the pains
of being so caught up in chains.
My shackles fit just fine
At least I know they are mine.
My heart is too heavy to burn,
My heart is too heavy to burn.
A short song by a 3-year-old boy and his father about getting dressed for the day.
Into Midnight beautiful song by Sarah with lirics by smweed. The only thing I could think about when heard it first time is train obviously and traveller (starring The Man in the Herringbone Hat by JacksonBlack) heading somewhere. Thanks to everyone - we have such HUGE library of footages here on HitRecord.
Added some harmonies to Pasiv's remix of Vickie's tiny song.
great original RECord by Vedder...
I'd like to point out this whole undertaking has only gone ahead with the approval and support of Rainey [themetafictionist]!
DianeFT asked me if I would sing a long to Blake Fischers "Ukelele=Happiness" to the tune of the ditty I wrote called "The Girl Who Looks Exactly Like Me"..but use her lyrical adaptation of TheMetafictionist's story.
So, here it is! I hope it's OK <3
For some time now he 's been stalking me
I hurry to get home cos he won’t let me be
I run up my steps and what do I see?
A brown bag that I open carefully
Ooooh Oh Oh!
It’s a blue dildo
I sneak in with the package in tow
How will I explain this to my bro?
It’s a blue dildo.
I’ve got the package safely hidden
What an obscene gift to be given
Despite my terror and horrific offence
I have to save it as evidence
Ooooh Oh Oh...
It’s a blue dildo
I sneak in with the package in tow
How will I explain this to my bro?
It’s a blue dildo.
It’s time for me to open up and put my shame aside
I’ve done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide
It’s time to ask for help, in my mom I will confide
She hugs me and we laugh, as we both feel a vibe
In walks my bro, who’s not that dence?
“What is that” he asks. Unsure I exclaim:
“It’s evidence!”
This piece is inspired by Lawrie Brewster's illustration Joe VS the Copyright Bots. You can see it here; http://hitrecord.org/records/488242 . Originally, I wanted to score a battle scene, but it turned out to be a pre-battle theme. Maybe for both sides? You tell me...
I added LizRECord's blackbook illustration, because a similar image was also in my head at some point writing the piece... it came in toward the end.
everything flows sweetly when you slow down
unwind all your tapes and dance to ghost sounds
i'm in another world, and you're breaking up
but i'll call you soon.. if i make it back
Second track off of 'Spilt Milk'. Have at it!
lyrics:
Nothing like a good ol' beating
to make a proper fool out of me
I've taken a torch to everything i own
and shamed my family.
I keep a will in my back pocket.
Another one is tucked in my boot.
And if you're lucky enough to see me coming,
don't hesitate before you shoot.
But I'm gonna go to church on sunday.
Make a proper fool out of me.
Lord, let me make it to sunday.
To wash all of my sins clean.
I'm gonna disappear in the evening.
Take flight before the sun bleeds.
And don't ask the sky for no reason,
or shake me down by my trail of rosary beads.
There's nothing you can pray I aint prayed for
nothing you can say I aint heard
no morning I don't wake up shaking
God damn I hate that mocking bird.
But I'm gonna go to church on Sunday
-make a proper fool out of me.
Lord, let me make it to Sunday
to wash all of my sins clean.
I love Chigwinkle's acapella take on "It Starts With A Glitch." And I really like that he covered the song in its entirety. But in the context of a whole album, I thought a shorter version would best serve our pace. This version's abridged, but Mr. Chig's ebullent spirit comes across in no time flat.
I added some harmonies tonight and made the oooohs more prominent. I listened to it a few times before I released it; sometimes I like them and sometimes I don't. Again, feel free to add your own, either to this first or the first.
Like I said to Rainey, I really love that song. And yes, I first heard it in the Coen Brothers' "O Brother", which is very cool !
I added the harmonies that are in the movie's song, a higher and a lower.
Hope you like it, Rainey and everyone !
I love the combination in TongueCutSparrow's song between frantic punk mania and the seemingly sweet cuddly subject matter that gets a little dark. And I really love a bunch of people in different countries meowing together!
I had to add my own cat vox as well. Mostly I just trimmed it down in length (you know, GarageBand isn't a half bad audio editor for stuff like this) and rearranged some things, not to change it really, but just hoping to accentuate its virtues.
(Also, I'm gonna upload a ZIP of the uncompressed version of this file, plus stems of the song without my vocals, and my vocals isolated.)
lyrics:
i ain't got a fuckin' cat.
i have no cats
i got no kitty litter
i have no cats
i have no ball of yarn
i have no cats
do you see a fuckin' cat?
i have no cats
do you see a fuckin' cat?
I don't think so.
okay.
i admit it.
i have some cats.
but don't judge me!
they're my best friends!
oh i have some cats!
oh i may have some cats!
meowmeowmeowmeow
i have some cats
i don't know what they're doin'
i have some cats
they follow me into the bathroom
For Ally. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed making it in your honor.
Thanks to all the people who I have resourced below for their wonderful meows, both real and simulated....and thanks again to Rob for being the conductor of the meow symphonies.
Alpal...who said to me, in no uncertain terms, that she has no cats. (and that she wasn't going to fart.)
Me at my poppiest. Do feel free to join me with singing or clapping or whatever pleases you!
You never show your black spots
You blind us with sunspots
You’re a glitter ball that keeps spinning
When you’re not winning
You wake up
In full stage make up
You’re a ticking bomb with a smile on
How’d you hold it so long?
Gotta let it all out someday, dear
And I’ll be waiting patiently right here
You’re making me feel nervous
With your perfect surface
Did you know that I’d still stick around
If your smile was upside down?
What’s the use of friends for just fair weather?
I’ll be here with ears to hear whatever
Gotta let it all out someday, dear
And I’ll be waiting patiently right here
Jared and I were just emailing about how excited we are that Words We're Wailing is coming along so well, and he generously said:
"Yo. What's that other Frenchy pub-song-sing-a-long from like 8 years ago? La La La La La, La-la La La La La... (you know the one) You have it? I want it."
So, yes. I recorded this in 2002 for a French literature class. The lyrics are from a 19th century poem called "Chanson" by Alfred de Musset. It's about a guy having a conversation with his heart, whom he calls feeble, and who tells him to man the fuck up because CHANGE, and its accompanying pain, is what makes life dear.
So no, WWW was not my first attempt at writing a waltzy singalong. And hopefully it won't be my last.
<3
Once again, changing things and adding things.
Ancient Rome and teen fiction combine to create this song - bah capitalism etc etc :)
Because dissent can be infectious
They will endeavour to protect us
From the power of the ranks united
From their battle cries
As long as we have dollars in our pockets
We dont see the boat so we dont rock it
Shock us, lock us in our bubble
Trouble us with lies
And the dilemma just below the surface is
That we're distracted by your bread and circuses
Oh their semantics can be so romantic
Noble causes with obsuring clauses
Of course its easy to accuse from
My cosy little life
In the middle of this pyramid scheme
We're not as comfortable as we at first seem
Cracks appearing, no one steering
Will we sink or swim?
And the dilemma just below the surface is
That we're distracted by your bread and circuses
Mind the gap, it's growing ever wider
Between the losers and the winning siders
The balance is forever broken
Outspoken voice hushed
And the dilemma just below the surface is
That we're distracted by your bread and circuses
Was so moved by Issa's words, hence the rawness...
This is so simple, but I wanted to do something with these words...it all came spilling out so quickly! I would love to hear this redone with something other than a garageband loop...if some cello could be added to this?
Slight adaptation of the text:
Last night I thought I saw
your shadow pass my bed,
and I prayed that if I closed my eyes
you'd pick me up
and take me away.
Away
Maybe you'll see how unhappy I've been
since you left since your soul was freed,
Maybe you'll realize how i love you so
despite the words…
I wish I'd not said
Why did I say them?
So please, come back to me.
I wish, I wish for you
I dream, I dream of you
I seek you, I seek you still.
If this is real, just let me believe.
Those passersby
stare at me and sigh
"What a tragic love, what heartache"
But let them see,
Just how much you love me.
Let me hold you once, once more,
Show you what these lips are for.
So please, come back to me.
I wish, I wish for you
I dream, I dream of you
I seek you, I seek you still.
If this is real, just let me believe.
Fingers intertwine,
this sad love's behind.
But I cannot be freed of the tears
Join with me if this tragedy's real
Let stay, let me drown in your seas.
Let me die here.
So please, come back to me.
I wish, I wish for you
I dream, I dream of you
I seek you, I seek you still
If this is real, just let me believe.
Don't let me be,
Don't leave me,
Let this all be
Don't let me be,
Don't leave me,
Let this be
Let this all be a dream.
So this is something Pasiv and I have been working on - I sent him a vocal track that needed some magic, he provided said magic times a million and here is the result!
(Will upload separate vocals too)
I've got a letter in my head for you I'm sick and tired of playing dead for you I've gotta come back, I've gotta come back to life Turn the clocks back, turn the clocks back, I'm alright My lips are frozen and my hands are numb The cracks are showing but I'm playing dumb I've got jump off, I've gotta let go this lie Let the truth out, let the truth out or let it die
thanks to Lizzie for starting this, Todd for editing all these voices together, and to everybody who sang. <3
I made this song by arranging and looping 12 tracks of little samples on garage band
Cool song, Joe... I added some drums, bass, guitars, toy piano, and a bgv. Enjoy!
Originating in Malibu. Written and recorded in the dead of night in Vancouver during a sleepless, enraged, stuck, and quiet moment. This gem squeezed straight from the heart is delivered as a an unpolished piece of privacy.
I really love "crashing" by wirrow, and it inspired me to make this tiny song... (I know my pronunciation sucks but I trust you still understand :D) Enjoy<3
Lyrics:
This is it, we're on the edge of everything
We ran so fast we didn't see it coming
We kept on making lies, it was easy to believe in them
Now it's the time to pretend we didn't se it coming
This is it, we're on the edge of all we know
We didn't look back when we could, and now we can't
We kept on making promises, and we kept on breaking them
Now we're gonna pretend we didn't see it coming
Ladies and Gentlemen, we're crashing. Please enjoy the ride.
Some say the only thing we've really got
Is that this world's a lovely spot
To watch it all rot, to watch it all
Rot before our lonely eyes
Turn into what we all despise
But eyes are never lonely and you ought
To know that a pair is better than one
'Cause two helping hands can catch me when I fall
Under that thumb
Under that thumb
Cause you are my brother and my friend
And you are my sister to the end
