Oh, man, I hate skipping re-RECs and then coming back to them after a week, but last week I was really sick with a bad cold, so I spent most of Sunday either unconscious or liveblogging the Emmys for work. Which reminds me, we probably need to have a talk about my work, hitRECorders. I know, I know, it doesn't pay me, but I like it quite a bit. And it is based around the TV season because I write about television. So in the summer, I have tons of time to be all good citizen-y and active and whatnot, but when the television season is just starting up, I have no time. Like, I'm not even joking. The amount of TV I watch (and then need to re-re-re-watch) is a truly distressing amount. Like, at least three hours a day, and that's assuming I don't also have an article due or a doctor's appointment or... you get the idea. The point is I'll be around a little less, but that doesn't mean I don't love you guys, okay? I just have a kid from my first marriage called Television, and I can't be expected to not pay attention to my baby.
Generally I'm guessing this will impact you all very little in your day-to-day lives. The only way it really effects mine is that I no longer have time to go through every RECord on the site. And that makes me sad, because I used to take a lot of pride in going through everything and finding some hidden gems, but alas. It's become too big a chore. So since I can no longer do that, I'd really, really appreciate if everyone could help me maintain my album of Copyright Violations. Just leave a comment with a link and I'll look into it if you see something. Heck, if you see something you're not sure about, leave me a link anyway. I'll figure it out for you. (Another way you could help would be not to violate copyright laws, but if you're reading this chances are you haven't been, so well done, you!)
And now that that's out of the way, re-RECs.
Resource Recommendations (Great RECords that want to be remixed into a big final product)
For Image Remixers
Fingerprint Heart by SIANGR (great to either use as a whole image or just to yoink the texture from)
Planet 04 by dgroeneman
Claw by dkonstruxion
lattice of pearl and sea by rejjie (J'ADORE J'ADORE J'ADORE. I want to wallpaper my room with this.)
For Video Editors
Pan of Amoeba from 2nd Floor by MikeK (Not just good for whatever Amoeba summation video, but just really useful footage in general)
Cafe by Mr.Green (Gorgeous stock footage. Just utterly gorgeous.)
pride & joy by InkedCanvas
For Audiophiles
Songs of the Night by TheWayTimMoves (Amazing instrumental track that's begging for Dispatch meets Dave Matthews-esque vocals. I'd prove them, but I know when something's better served in someone else's hands, and this definitely is.)
open your heart by megancarnes (Eventually this will be great for a video, but first it needs something layered over it, like a poem reading or something. Megan's also apparently looking for an orchestra, so you should check that out.)
Mostly-Finished RECords
I know nothing is ever really "done" on hitRECord, but in this section is stuff that's done-ish. IE: it doesn't obviously have stuff that needs to be done to it right away.
Untitled 2 by ThePole - Ugh, this is gorgeous. So gorgeous. So, so gorgeous. I have a real weakness for weird love and weird love confessions.
cut out formal by wirrow - Everyone and their mother has re-rec'd this, and for good reason. It's perfect. Marke doesn't even need to make a poster, it's already done, and gorgeous. And take my word for it, dudes, the fact that wirrow made purple work is pretty impressive. Purple is a really, really difficult color to work with, for me, at least. It's up there with green on "can go wrong so, so easily".
Graveyard Blues by Spacebassoddity - Uh. May. Zing. If you like Johnny Cash and wish there were some secret lost b-sides, it's like your wish has been granted! Go! Revel in it!
The Box Challenge by Proi - I love seeing how artists work, and this was a great little challenge Proi set up for herself. More artists! Show how you do stuff! It's awesome! And Proi's end result is amazing, too, and great for photoshop remixing.

Let's grow old as idiots. Let's bide our time, doing nothing we're supposed to, until the kindness of strangers dries up and we die stagnant in our own filth. Let's discuss the beauty of our unr... |

you guys.. make me so happy <3
If you ever feel like you're down on your luck or something, listen to this song and hopefully it will give you a little boost.
The trip over wasn't as bad as he had thought it might be, but it was still longer than he had gone in his life. He had been left alone for the most part, the sailors had their work and he had his thoughts.
The fire had left him alone with his thoughts, except for the guitar his parents had gotten him as a wedding gift. "We can't afford a piano, but here's a start."
One of the sailors asked for a song, asked to hear his thoughts.
Shot with Canon 5D MARK II.
been inspired by some really awesome paper cut out designs i've seen lately. so i tried putting similar paper cut outish type things together and then it started turning into a fall formal scene. in the end i think it's a little bit boring for a poster but maybe someone can make sthng else out of it.
irrelevant question : do you like artists that keep trying new styles out or artists that have a distinct style that they stick to?
I challenged myself to do a drawing, start to finish, in the time my camera battery lasts (a little over an hour.) The only set concept was the series of boxes, and the only time I erased anything (or did anything in pencil) was in the initial layout.
Music is Metaphorest's lovely "Oh, Captain."
