This is one of the first songs I wrote for my band "French Films About Trains".  My favourite feedback was that the listener "felt scolded". :)  Have at it folks! xo

I am rarely {never} the life of the party, but one of my absolute favourite things is to find a quiet place in the room to watch.  Sure part of me wishes I was the one dancing, but overall, I am content to observe.

It was from such a place and time that I sat there with my Mango beer (that I had been thoroughly teased for choosing) and I smiled as everyone moved around in front of me in a blur of colour and cell phone flashes.  I suddenly felt full to the brim with contentment and began to write a song in my head about this incredible weekend in the woods I had been invited to.   Old friends coming together again at last, along with lovely new friendships and bonds made.  So much nostalgia and even more kindness.  A much needed break from the daily grind.  All the ingredients for a memory-filled weekend; gorgeous autumn weather, fall leaves, northern lakes, bourbon, cigars, good (and bad) music, dancing, pranking, eating, crying, sleeping, togas, confessing, dreaming, skinny dipping, and looooottttts of laughing.  

So, natuarlly, there came a song....

p.s. even a little Simpson's reference in there for you Simpson's fans.  I still don't know what I'm refering to as I've not seen much of the show, but it was the joke during the weekend.

I love the idea of doing a cover collab! This one of my favorite hitrecord songs and I wanted to give it a kind of folksy, singer-songwriter treatment. I also transcribed the lyrics by ear, not realizing that sparrow did them in the original record so I got a few of them wrong. Oopsie. 

Here's a story of a girl. She tries to drown herself in the Ocean. She walks into the waves and submerges herself under the water. She eventually opens her eyes and finds an underwater world a million times better then our own, and she decides to live there instead
