Rarely has a RECord struck me as emotionally as stargirl1013's "Starlight Drive-In" vignette. The camerawork was raw and seemed like such a personal perspective of what remained of a local movie drive-in she had just discovered.

Her reflections were so striking to me and she had matched her voice over with the perfect companion in amferraro's "careless young." Normally in a remix containing voice over I may ask for the track separate, but I was able to trim and rearrange it with the music in tact. In a way it preserved the precious timing of the original.

Drive-in footage was tough to come by but I think the visual emphasis in the cutaways is more about the people themselves that used to sit in their cars watching movies together rather than grandiose cinematography of the drive-in experience. Besides, stargirl1013's piece was really about what remains of what once was.

I love drive-ins, and I'm glad that some are still around. I hope more will be built for future generations.

This is only simple and not really sure on it myself, but I shot this on my phone this week and thought I'd create something out it.

I really liked Fractaldust's haunted hallway.  I had to simplify the effect a lot so that my ancient PS program could handle the gif.  Never uploaded a gif before?  Fingers crossed!

I want to shoot whatever it is that you need shot :) hey guys so if you need some stock footage shot for a record you are working on let me know.. i really want to start filming a lot more so i am taking requests :)

also please let me know of any tiny or short stories you think would make good short films.. id like to do more of those as well

Carved pumpkins with my daughter tonight and I thought we'd do one for hitrecord! I took this photo before shooting a little video (coming soon!) and I kind of fell in love with it. Happy Halloween, hope you all have fun at the show!

Baby shadow wants ups, apparently. Companion of sorts to Ghostbreath.

 I'm so scared of heights but I can't help but be transfixed when I see videos of parachutists/cliff divers/ sky divers. I guess that's my way of grasping for courage, that ultimately isn't there, while seeing people do what I'm afraid to do.

Raw material: The view from my mom's couch, looking out into the back yard.

Captured in "Composite" for iPad.

Stylized beyond recognition in "My Sketch", "Sketch Club", "Filter Storm" and "100Cameras".

This was produced at an office in Hollywood while awaiting a job interview.  I don't like to sit idle.

It was made in an iPad app called "Composite," which lets you draw with pixels captured from the camera's live video feed.  It's sort of a cross between photography and finger-painting.  The world changes while you work, and a simple brush stroke is usually enough to shift your camera angle, so that keeps things pretty dynamic.

I guess "remix" is the right term for this.  It's built entirely of Garageband loops (mostly from the World Music Jam Pack), but I think these odd pairings represent me just as surely as anything I've built from scratch.

I haven't done anything like this in a long time, but I'd like to now, using mismatched stems from a bunch of different songs here.  Got any to recommend?  =)

She Waits:

Waits to woo him, and wants his warmth, but watches her wrist-watch and watches time waist, her want isn’t waning, cuz he’s worth the waiting, but what’s with this writhing that’s worthy of writing these words of her waiting…for him?

Ambulating to address his evading of her admiration, abandons the waiting, and all the while arming her ardent frustration and asking the angels for assassination then finding the answer in Rx sedation...for him.

Idle introspection involves contemplation, invokes indignation, the invalidation, when all she desires is intoxication from his incandescence to glow in his essence imbibe in his presence and be there…for him. 

Tick-tock as time’s ticking her patients is slipping and all of this waiting’s suddenly degrading, she tallies the Tony’s (poor substitute trade-ins) and totals her targets of tawdry temptation. She thinks of time’s tocking and feels herself tiring contorting to something that’s too terrifying. Toward taking action she starts to gain traction so loud’s her disquiet she can justifies it and toward him she tip-toes she’ll make sure that he knows she waits…for no one.

A brief glance at bats' mansion on Halloween Night.

This weekend I decided to learn how to animate. Just in time for a wee Halloween snippet. Music by my little brother Dylan.

GET IT!? So, I thought we could use this for the intro/warm up video/ lead into the show.

Or just as a spooky HR short :)

Even though I'm not going to the Halloween show I thought I'd make a wirrow mask anyway :)

So this is what the "final" for tonight looks like (mainly b/c I have to go to work tomorrow, lol). I plan on doing a few more panels and adding a second half tomorrow or over the next couple of days. And then the BIG plan is to try and continue doing images and such for the entire thing and make a longer movie for the total original poem. We'll see if I do end up doing that :)

And out of thanks to bloemday, OhPattyG and ErinKauffman for showing interest in this project over the course of the night, I'd like to add them as "Resources" in honor of the resources of encouragement and inspiration that they are :D

What is needed: everyfuckinperson please record yourself reading the poem! (Which, incidentally, I am calling Song of Midnight, just 'cus, yo.) I would love it if for that part we could have an enormous choir of people chanting softly. If someone can come up with an actual melody for it I am almost willing to part with some sweet love, yo.

Call it New Age, call it wailing, call it Lisa Gerrard..I really have no idea what this is or where it came from, but I thought it sounded kinda cool.

I loved alpal's mesmerizing video Reverse Snow and JohnnyClyde's beautiful Snow Song. Metaphorist did a lovely reading of Fractaldust's text Cosmic Significance, And My Lack Thereof and set it to Snow Song.  I used trapeze here to try to echo Alpal's original video of snow falling upward.

I did a second version that is set only to Johnnyclyde's Snow Song. It's called SnowSong Trapeze.

This trapeze piece is inspired by johnnyclyde's gorgeous SNOW SONG and alpal's video Reverse Snow. It's my best attempt at trying to look like snow falling upward.

I did another version set to Metaphorist's lovely reading of Fractaldust's text Cosmic Significance and Johnnyclyde's Snow Song. It's called Cosmic Significance Trapeze.

I like both versions for different reasons :)

The idea of "losing love" made me think of the risk and gamble of Love, so a playing card seemed like an appropriate treatment. And then I thought, "How can you make sure that you 'never found it (love) in the first place,' other than by blinding yourself to the world?"

I reMixed erikabyamaguchi's illustration (blinded) for kait-allen's tiny story (lost & found.) Hope you both like it.

You contribute one line or thought, they are then edited in to a much larger piece. I want to make something truly collaborative, not just a remix - not just a choir section - anyone with creative lines they've held dear to themselves but don't have the balls to let them into the wild. These lines will structure, stylised, sung and spoken alongside a score of everyone's doing. I will edit the text below as things progress, with the updated lines people have submitted. Not all lines will be used, as is the nature of this sort of thing. The chord progression I'm currently working with is: Am, F, C, A# After the sound all pulls together, I'll be looking for exactly the same idea for video. You know that fantastic shot you've held on your USB stick for a year but belongs arsewhere? Yeah, that may be good to use.

I think I'm on an Edward Shallow kick as it turns out. This has many uses and the writing is that of a mastermind. The whole piece is so eerie but also hauntingly beautiful. 

Finally, Finally got around to colour this (nearly done on Samhain night, yay). :D

This time I spun and dyed my own yarn (kolaid 3:1:1/8 cherry:strawberry:grape somehow is almost identical to the rec button colour on a cream coloured base yarn). The main part of the scarf is a modified version of the sunspot stitch (from one of the Barbara Walker stitch treasuries) – it knits up a lot faster than v1 cause it's worsted/aran weight on size 8 needles and has a repeating stitch pattern.

And this pattern shouldn't be that difficult to write up if anyone is interested in making their own... please let me know and I will do that and add it as a result:)

I'm still debating embroidering “hitRECord” with one letter in each circle... but I think I might leave it as it is to be more subtle... or maybe knit it again without the heart and then do that...

i love absolutely every element of "CosmicSnow Trapeze" by PonderGoblin & wanted to add another layer to it & give it an extra cosmic feel!

I have loved the narwhal as long as I can remember! When I saw JollyRoger's illustration I immediatly wished it was I on the back of the narwhal, so I made it happen with annejumps illustration of my face. This is me as a child cause I have no boobs :)

A pen and ink interpretation of the "Patterns & Prayers" performance at the "Hit RECord on Halloween" show in New York City.

I remember someone yelling out PREACH! and had I not been recording at the time I probably would have died laughing. 

Really enjoyed seeing this live finally. I dare say it was my favourite performance of the night being as it felt the most powerful out of everything that was done.
