All hearts given this week.
Inside the 24-armed machine that made 600 Wirrow masks for the halloween show.
So this is very much a work in progress but I wanted to put the first draft out there and get some feedback and also spark up some interest in this project. I need way more footage to complete this. I know not all of the EX3 footage has been uploaded and Joe still hasn't uploaded his footage but I know that there are still some users out there that haven't uploaded their footage of the parade either. So I urge you all to hit record and upload your footage of this amazing mob of HitRECorders.
Also if you were planning on editing this footage as well, I stongly encouage you to do so. Who knows if we could maybe combine both of our edits together or maybe your edit is just better than mine. So happy remixing and get to work. :)
So, after writing that "Cookie Apocalypse" song, I've had this itch in the back of my mind to see what the song would look like if it were expanded into a Christmas musical. I haven't worked on it especially, but when I heard J_aime's instrumental "Rain" it inspired me to tinker a bit and see what I could come up with.
To give you the setting, this song would come around or after the midway point in a musical. In my mind it is sang by a female lead rather than a male (I had to make due with what I had, that's why it's a guy's voice, lol :P) and the woman is engaging in a sort of musical monologue about her worries over the impending doom that might be portended by a cookie apocalypse. I know, it sounds far-fetched, just listen to the song, lol. If you like it feel free to work with it. I think it would sound good if it were extended and additional lyrics were added in. Oh, and J_aime's original tune is better than this b/c I did fiddle with it to make it longer, so check her's out to hear it in all its true grandeur!
As a sort of disclaimer, I am not a musician. My voice sometimes sounds good when I sing and sometimes doesn't. If I hurt your ears, I apologize in advance. Also, just to announce a milestone, I downloaded Audacity last night and this was my first attempt to use it :D Anyway, I hope you all enjoy. Cheers!
PS- The image I chose for this is "Frosty Pines" by jaw521 :) Here are the words to the song, in case you want to see them:
The snow keeps on falling
Regardless of the morning
Regardless of the darkness
It doesn’t… even care
Covering everything
It all looks the same
Desolate and blank
Bleak and drained
We have no signs to find our way…
The sky is so imposing
A rock-gray monochrome Thing
Its flakes are fit for stoning
All of the world to death
We’re buried alive
Beneath its landslide
You’re safest inside
Can we exorcize
The wintry demons in time?
I feel the cold stare piercing
As white consumes me fiercely
The ivory jaws are gearing
To be dappled with red
@J_aime: Thanks so much! It makes me extremely glad to know that you enjoyed it! It's the first time I've put lyrics to music that already exists so I was hoping that the words would be good (and the vocals). Thank you for reassuring me :D If you have any other instrumental material that I run across I might use it (I'll be searching for stuff like that to do other songs to) so I hope if that happens it meets your approval as well! And certainly feel welcome to make suggestions on music if you think there might be any I could use :D Oh, from looking at your stuff I got the impression you do film. Have you ever thought of doing stuff to sell at Dragon Con? Just curious. Take care and thank you again!
@all: Thanks _buttercup, Day Glo and InkedCanvas for taking a look at this! I appreciate it and I'm glad you like it :D
~got an idea you're working on, but you've hit a brick wall because you need something your own talents aren't geared towards? don't fret! go to the Help CompletRECord Project and put in your work request for people to review and submit to! check it out by looking for the collab by name in the search option. thanks and take care!~

DEAD PINE BURNING IN A BROWN-SNOW FIELD
Well, the sun used to shine with a purpose
But that purpose was cast like a stone
Onto a black liquid surface
That swallowed both it and its heir to the throne
And the reason for breath, now it too has left
And all I'm left with are these rusty lungs
Every word I wish I'd said to you tastes like blood
From all the times I chose to just bite my tongue
We cling to these moth-eaten habits
And we tire our sinews in rows
Like two enemies shouldering a casket
Through thistles in December snow
And though your red blooming curls are fiery swirls
And beneath them your eyes coyly burn
I'm gonna step back from the window 'cause now it's your turn
To turn your back on all the lessons you've learned
We've hummed the dirge of autumn for too long
Let's sing of winter scarecrows coated in frost
And how those pink and blue flowers that grew strong
Through spring and summer all have been sold or lost
Each fallen leaf is a blank cardboard piece
Of a puzzle I'll never complete
Well, this maze is too much so I'll follow the lead
Of my footprints to the start and retreat
I slightly tweaked the audio track on this one so the music is slightly quieter, and Joe's VO a little louder. I also used PonderGoblin's suggestion on the clip to use of her (I actually love it even more now-thanks for the tip!)
I made this about a year ago, and I didn't know what to do with it?! Thought someone here could do something cool with it, I originally wanted to use it for a film but that didn't happen. Hope it's enjoyed! Live Long and Prosper!

After a little hitRECord tinychat….the lovely pamagotchi got me inspired to start singing again on HitRECord (can’t remember the last time I did) soo here’s me having fun.
P.S. I sound like an old ladyy bahaha<3
Here is a mix of the live performance of "Patterns & Prayers" at the "Hit RECord on Halloween" show in New York City.
Note:
The spoken word audio on this version was taken directly from the Dr. Gory file. I just added a little reverb to it. There are some parts where the sound maxes out slightly and creates slight distortion. Once the ProTools files come out I can work them into this cut and upload an alternative sound version.
Some additional color correcting needs to be done as well as some mastering on the grain effects, so this is still very much a work-in-progress. Some video clips differ too much in overall quality so I may switch a few shots here and there to keep the look more consistent.
Removing the "cut the music" part during the walk to the podium is a possibility as well. I think it disrupts the flow and mood slightly (even if it was a part of the live performance in a sense.)
Also, this is the LOW-RES version. The high-resolution version exceeds 400mb.
I wouldn't call this a full-blown alternate version of my last video, more of a very slight adjustment. Per Matt and chariot13's suggestions, I did add some sound, though only Joe's welcome at the beginning. I tried clips from other segments, but they weren't fast enough and slowed down the pace of the movie. Plus, I liked the original feel, like you were almost fast-forwarding through the entire experience, and adding sound bits took away from that. I also swapped out more moon footage at the end for the gloam jack o' lantern, just because it's more of a unique hitRECord thing. They're minor differences, but I'm a big believer in listening to critique and trying anything once.
So the other night I RECorded a stomp/clap cheer-style series that I thought could make for some amusing REmixing for some people to play with. If you guys are diggin' this, I'm totally happy to RECord some more! Enjoy <3

I don't have anything to say about this, other than to say that Pammy and I had a lot of fun making this :)
Timelapse of clouds passing across the face of the Moon and the bodies of the stars
I produced a production of Twelfth Night which was performed a couple of weeks ago and this is the timelapse I arranged of the stage-build- it's a four metre manual revolve.
Thought it might be useful if anyone does any remixes around building/revolving/spinning etc.
I was browsing RECords the other morning and came across chelsea.e's Clap Series RECord, which I really enjoy. When I played it, Stella got a HUGE smile on her face and seemed fascinated. I played it again and the same REaction, so I had to get the camera out and RECord it to share. She just loves the way it sounds.
I particularly love this cuz the clap series reminds me of tap and I want Stella to love tap SO MUCH. If I had time and space to do it (I have a downstairs neighbor now :( ) I'd do some tap along with it.

I LOVE what's already been done with the Dusty Dance tiny story, but I thought I'd still share my take on it :)
EDIT: if this gets used for anything, i just realized that i forgot to mute one of the clips so there's a little bit of background noise for a few seconds (that's what you get for trying to edit video with a baby in your lap!)
I... um... That was awkward... But I tried.

Hi everyone. I don't know how appropriate it is to share a sentimental and personal story as a RECord so forgive me for being sentimental & personal...it is hitRECord related!
My girlfriend has been pregnant now for, erm, I'd say about 9 months give or take a day. Our due date was the 7th Nov 2011, now hopefully you understand when I say that I got excited, probably for the wrong reasons, but since March I have had my heart set on the birthdate 11.11.11.
Some people understood my excitement and anticipation, others were like "What you on about, it's just a date?". My whole life I have had a weird affilation with certain numbers (as you can probably tell from my hitRECord name) & even before hitRECord was in my life the date 11.11 has always been special. My Mother, who is a twin, was born on 11.11.55 (also a cool date because it is one of the actual days that Michael J Fox went back to the past in 'Back to the Future', 5th Nov - 12th Nov 1955 fact fans).
My sister was then born on 11.11.88, that in itself was pretty cool. So hopefully you can see why I was so excited by the prospect of having my son born on 11.11.11.
Now lets cut to the chase, I'm sure you can see from the image above that he was in fact born yesterday 10.11.11 (perfectly healthy & very cute, thanks for asking). Apart from being ecstatic, proud and many other cliches, I was slightly disappointed at him missing out on the full house of 11's (which is also my lucky number by the way because I was born on 11.08.81). But then something else astounded me, something I had never actually considered because I had been so preoccupied with the birthdate.
After an hours hard work by my girlfriend, the baby's head popped out and the midwife exclaimed "Oooo the baby's head is out, 12.42". Now obviously she wasn't a hitRECorder and was not referring to me, she was referring to the time.
Baby Ethan was then born at 12.43 (check out the time on his band!). Now I'm not really religious but I do love the idea of fate and/or extreme coincidences & I loved that.
My conclusions...Ethan is a future hitRECorder, who once I have taught After Effects & Final Cut will be known as '12.43 son of 12.42' or 12.43 for short...but I'd give it a couple of months, he can't even talk yet. <3
for you, Pammy! Thanks for a magical 11:11 11/11/11 idea.
p.s. look how hot that image is before you press that play button. oh, god. hahaha. sweet.
For Pamagotchi's wish request <3
A day like 11.11.11 seems like a good day to release this film about repetition based on Wirrow's Tiny Story 'Proposition'. <3

This is my "I wish video" for Pammy!
Happy 11:11 everyone! Enjoy this special and magical day!
I really liked Joe's reading of this piece, but I felt a female VO might be an option to have as well.

my contribution to pamagotchi's 11/11/11 RECord!
So, I kinda vanished after my initial posting a few weeks ago. I've been experiencing an endless string of technical difficulties these last few weeks, and it took some time until I was able to finally record some new stuff.
This one is the latest out of 3 short tracks that I've managed to record during that period. It's probably the simplest song I've ever written. Wrote it very quickly, and recorded it in one pretty short session. I'm not sure it's actually a finished song, though. I guess it could benefit from having an extra verse, if anyone would be interested in adding it...
Cheers.
Choose sides
Time to form an opinion
It's a battle between good and bad
By now
They've established dominion
Over hope and dreams and jellybeans
And all the things that make you glad
Beware
Of their false advertisement
They're not in it for the common good
(No, no)
Let's share
Your 2 bedroom apartment
And make plans of revolution
Find solutions for our neighborhood
Take, take
My words for what they are
Oh hell, let's just get into my car
And drive away
On our own
Where we'll end up
I couldn't say
But fuck It, we'll be together
Hey Guys!
This is an animation thingie I've been working on for the last few days. I feel it's unfinished, but I figure to upload what I have so far so people can mess with it. Anyway, enjoy!

A Story in Wishes
When I made the request for 11/11/11 wishes, I genuinely thought I would have a handful of responses to play around with in the short time I had available. To my utter delight, nearly 90 responses later, I have cut together what I hope is a fitting tribute to the words and wishes of a varied and talented group of HitREcorders.
In the end, the success was my downfall: I simply didn't have enough time to fully carry out the idea I had in the short space of time. But the more I edited the wish videos, the more I realised that in fact the videos speak for themselves: they speak of hope, courage, remembrance, sadness, fear, happiness, determination. My little collage, my little fingerprint in bringing you all together in a single picture became an after thought.
To everyone who contributed, my very deepest thanks. Your courage and inspiration were truly wonderful to work with.
My 11/11 wish is for this community to keep spreading it's wings, and to forever endeavour to create, achieve and inspire.
I hope that, even in some small measure, all your wishes come true <3
PS: on a lighter note, I hope no one is creeped out by my red stained hands [paint] and the fact that I have lots of your faces on a wall gathered round a bright red circle! <3
PPS: currently trying to resource LOTS of names, some of whom sent videos by email and I wasn't sure of their HitREcord name. If you sent me a video and don't see a resource, please let me know! I used every single one I received :D <3
