Double-Dog Dares to Be Repeated has become a bit feisty to manage, so here's to starting album number three, whoo hoo! *clink*
To say it like I said (twice) before: Inspired by a soundtrack compilation that cerebis set up, I am going to rustle up an ongoing collection of some of "the embarrassment of riches" of music that I find on hitRECord that I listen to when driving, dancing, cooking, and (especially while) writing.
I am very much a "write the scene of the music that I hear" type of person. The mood I'm already in, coupled by the interpreted mood of the music, can produce all sorts of stuff-- I call it the movie projector inside of my head. Sometimes all I do is loop music, so that a particular mood might stay in place.
This is the music that dares to be repeated :-)
A piano melody that was stuck in my head that I wrote a cello part for. Cello is courtesy of Lindsay Wilson. Maybe can be used in an animation or something?
I wrote this very early this morning before the sun began to rise 11/14/11. The sound effects I added were for visual purposes. It made me imagine alien ships taking off, and going back home after a visit.
Here is something a bit different from what I usually upload on HR. This track was co-produced, mixed, and mastered by the good friend Jean-Gabrielle Hajjar http://soundcloud.com/thesilex/ - check out his work.
Just learned how to make a wobble bass today 11/25/11
i
am uncomfortable
with the way you say my name
cause i
do not belong to you
though you call me something strange
i
can't seem to stay awake
and i don't know what that means
for i
am an astronaut
i have nothing under me
you
are really starting to
climb inside my head
we
are like a negative
hung to dry above my bed
keep
me on this canyon floor
i don't want to venture out
your name
it sounds so strange to me
it's an unfamiliar sound
I made that song a few years ago. but it never felt done
didnt know how to name it but i was always reminded of a deer running through a forrest with the rinsing sun in the background ..so ( HAHA very cheesy )
Had a spontaneous moment chatting online with Johhny Clyde (http://hitrecord.org/users/Johnnyclyde) about education, career path, music, networking, and story telling through composition.
So I leave you with an impromptu soundscape about winter and hibernation. All of life enters a mode of hibernation as it braces for winter and hardships. The will to survive solidifies resolve as crystalline structures emerge to brace winter's whipping winds along the landscape. Freezing, thawing, dripping, blowing, shimmering, chaotic. A slow and steady pulse stabilizes as life surrenders to a state of suspended animation.
this song i made on the same evening like Deer with the same programm and also never knew what to do with it
maybe you can use it :)
Hi, here's a very recent track I've recorded - any collaborative action/interaction welcome. Hope to see some fascinating results.
Thanks,
Martin F.

From the soundtrack of PANOPTICON
A high-flying, instrumental nostal-jam.
ghosts of you are
singing softly
through the walls and
under floorboards.
goodnight sweet princes and princesses,
may flights of angels with umbrellas shield your sacred heads from rain
as you flow sweetly on your way.
our lives will never be the same..
Had a moment of inspiration and recorded this today. Came up with the arrangement on the spot, and hit record, mistakes and all!
She has it posted under her account as well: http://hitrecord.org/records/591052
Arranged by Erin Maughan and myself. Inspired by the beautiful version that Eva Cassidy played(go listen to it!).
Erin on Viola and Violin. Me on Bass and Gutiar.
Ps. Keep listening after the first verse, its not over! :)
Toyed with calling this "Wibbley-Wobbley Chimey-Wimey", but I'm not sure everyone would get it.
Stems on demand. I'd need to re-record it if this is going anywhere, this is pretty rough.
I hope you like it.
A while back I was working on some tracks with my friend, Ralph, for my side project "Lydia Rollins".
He made the track and mixed in my vocals. We are working on some new stuff. :)
and this heart
it only beats for you
and this love
i release is true
for two weeks
i shut myself in
to find a place
i could call home
but there you were
haunting my dreams
would you follow me down
the rabbit hole
if you knew it would take you
somewhere you'd never been
let it call you home...
I didn't know what to call this song.
For my friend.
(A remastered version can be found in the results)
I've been working on a song for quite some time and kept on having all sort of problems and what-nots with it. Needed to clear my head for a couple of days. So I took this cool instrumental by Noah Richardson and had some fun with it. And it was very therapeutic indeed, I must say. :)
The lyrics were written (and recorded) pretty quickly, the guitar riffs were mostly improvised on the spot and the mix was done pretty hastily as well. The whole thing may be a bit messy, but all in all, I'm quite pleased with it.
We Are Illumination
We're all fractions
Of an endless whole
Just tiny specks of light
But we are the world itself
When we unite
When we mash
We can bring a change
And make it all right
Can you hear
All the voices turn to one
So loud and clear
Lose your fear now
See that light
Feel the change
Join in the fight
We are magical
We are brighter than the sun
We are boundless
We are illumination
Elevation
One big nation
This is my first post to hitrecord. so this story goes...By the sounds from the night I awoke to this dream about blue people. The very next morning I recorded this track. Very cool...
feel free to use the clip in a video, add artwork, and or write a story.
I broke out the accordion again :)
Sorta a slower song then I intended
thanks for the recs glad you like the track YENİ MÜTLÜ YİLLAR(happy new year)tj
Short guitar piece I improvised a while ago. Hope someone finds a use for this!
Dub/Ambient music
This is my first waltz, hope you like and have fun with.
3 Vocal tracks, 1 guitar, lots of reverb, lots of mellow. Background music
I'm having trouble describing this.... it's just what I made today.
Acoustic guitar (x3)
Distorted vocals through guitar pickup
Claps
Leg Slaps
A Fork.
I recommend listening with headphones.
There are some Greek thrown in here....from the Seiklos epitaph. The translation on Wikipedia reads:
While you live, shine
Have no grief at all
Life only exists for a short while
And time demands its toll.
working on making a hiphop beat sampling "memory fade - Memory fade"
Vocal RECordings by Metaphorest & The Morning Hollows (RECorded 4/2011)
Bass Gtr & Drum RECording by Albert (RECorded 2/2011)
Drum Kit sample & Keyboard RECording by GwenInterrupted (RECorded 5/2011)
Cymbal crash RECording by thisishowiroll (RECorded 10/2011)
EBow gtr solo by me (RECorded 2010)
2012 REmix arrangement & production by meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
This REmix contains only samples from the RECords resourced. No outside/extra RECordings were used.
---------------------------------------
this took nearly a full year after the original bass line & 'Ravens' RECords were released for me to 'crack' the idea for an arrangement that worked.
back in April 2011, i downloaded the audio stems that Albert, Sarah, and Matt uploaded to the site, and after trying some ideas that ended up not going aywhere, decided to put this REmix on hold until I could think of something suitable. Sometimes the best ideas come much later. Sometimes, it's better to put your impulses aside and allow time to pass...
in January 2012, I came up with the idea of looping Matt & Sarah's ending vocal lines which created the proper foundation, along with Albert's bass, for the song to move in a cohesive, structured direction. Everything else, the drums, guitar solo, format, followed suit.
And there you have it.
many thanks to Albert, Matt & Sarah <3

intimacy
is not something you can give
it is not something you can give away
intimacy
is only something you can share
with someone else
when you are children for a day
intimacy
is not something you can yell
it is not something you can yell alone
intimacy
is only something you can shout
it's only something you can shout
with someone else when you find youth inside your bones
A little something I worked on for a few hours tonight. Will do more on it over the next few weeks...
I thought this would fit-in here. There's some bass tones that computer speakers might not pickup.
Added some percussion sounds this this tune!
The weather has been amazing.
i wish i was special
in your mending heart
but you've simply taken
my fragile soul apart
i know it's not your fault
you did the best you could
some blameless superstition
negated if you should
my heart is always yours
Anne challenged me to use her writing as lyrics and Mrs. Tibbs challenged me to use her tune (Ocean's Calling). I combined both into one song. There is an orchestral intro followed by a nice groove that starts at 46 seconds.
give me all the flickering lights!
tiny specs of fluttering rays
and city glitters shimmering
but only from far away.
i want them all it's an addiction
i want the christmas lights buried in snow
and the blips in science fiction
films from years ago.
give me all the night sky's twinkling sprinkles
and the red pulsing eyes
on tvs that standby
fading, flirting in and out
like a game of cat and mouse.
bits of foil in the distance
blowing kisses from the sun to me and
showing no resistance to the photons
that consistently pass notes on
from one lover to the other
like cupids tiny brothers.
give me all the flickering lights.
light every candle and wave every phone
glinting and bleeping and
imprintining glowing circuses
that linger while I'm sleeping.
an orchestra of weeping light
swan singing like star crossed choirs
who play themselves to me
all night.
This is such a cool song! I added some fuzz bass and a fuzz lead to round out the mix.
I think this would suit an action-packed thriller maybe?
I. waves & shores
II. passtime while the rain pours.
III. farewell/fading
to S. 4/2010
all sounds created, composed, and mixed by me
Decided to combine Johnny's AMAZING flickering lights score with mine! All I had to do was speed up the tempo of mine slightly, change the key, adjust some levels, and add some stuff at the end! I was actually surprised at how well they worked together.
i supposed i could have had only one wirrow voice, but i thought this sounded cooler.
added synth, vox, guitar and some drum stems. hope it still works for you guys.
Like curlyevan7 suggested, some rap could work well with this.
Me singing.
A piano composition. Apologies for the odd wrong note and the recording quality, I don't play as much as I used to!
I've decided I'm going to do a number of Dream Orchestra songs. Only the ones that sound really dreamy :)
something i cooked up recently. REmix & enjoy.
Just some simple piano and strings. I was looking through my music and I found this one and almost forgot about it. I figured someone might be able to use it for something.
It's been incredibly long...
i will find my wings
find my flight and wishful things
in one world i’ll stay asleep
but in mine i’ll live a dream
i will fly away
gleam and glow and dance and play
in one world there are no sounds
but in mine there are no bounds
i will hum and sing
make a wish a star will bring
in one world i couldn’t dream
but in mine my mind is free
i will shine above
laugh and cry and live and love
in one world i fell apart
but my world has healed my heart
Choked With Trees by ForestKnauff--Added some instruments onto there. Percussion is off in some parts, but can be corrected. Also made some album art. Enjoy!
Stems: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/743792
A frantic search.
Thru all of time.
Here's a little sentimental hip hop instrumental. Well it doesn't have to be hip hop but it's got a beat to it that someone could easily flow over. So someone should defintely remix this. It's got a lot of room for growth.
Even if you don't want to rap over this you could always just pick a part of the song and sing like a hook or chorus over it.
Also there's tons of room for more instrumentation as well.
If someone wants the stems uploaded let me know and I'll put them up.
Enjoy. :)
when i first listened to Expressionism by Mikeregannoise i knew i had to sing something to it. So this is what i came up with. Enjoy.
You’re a ghost in the sun
When the darkness comes you leave my side
I’m blinded when I’m left without your light
And if I cant see, I look to the sky
Hoping to catch your silhouette looking back
You’re my ghost in the sun
When the darkness comes you leave my side, goodbye.
I would have preferred to have recorded lots of real percussion/foot stomps/other stuff myself, alas, I don't have the resources. So I chucked this together with samples instead.
It gets a bit strange here
Cookies to the right...
I wrote this out with a sexy, jazzy, smokey vocal in mind. It is sketch for now, more or less.
Anyone that might be intersested-by all means.
Would love to hear what any vocalists or lyricist have in mind for such a piece.
Any or all musicians welcome!
I really liked the Bird Song (tiny story) by DianeFT, and then after uploading the Grind's stems and finding these synths by AlmostSound, this is what happened. Kind of like a song, but more like a spell or something...
I will upload just me singing later! Feel free to do anything you want with this :)
Enjoy! <3
Lyrics: (I remixed the original story a bit!)
When a bird arrives in the Hereafter It sings a song so sweet That Death will have to take a break and listen
This started out as a thank you song to finland for giving me a laptop for free! Then it kinda turned into this whole big thing, and then my good friend Shane added some vocals to it, and this is what happened. Does it still count as a thank you song?
I don't believe I've made a track quite like this one before. It's probably the closest I've come to trailer music.
This is a song I wrote a couple days ago. Feel free to sing over it. Pull from bands like The Cure, The Smiths, Beach House, Wild Nothing. If you want to add any other instruments over that let me know and I'll put up only the guitar or I'll take out what I did so you can put in your instrument.
Cheers!
